  • whoa! three hands!

  • Yeah, I bought one of this and is very effective.

  • I have a mute like this. I can play at like 2 am and its not even loud enough to wake my kids

  • I just realized that there was more then one person because it took three hands: 1 to play the notes 1 to move the bow 1 to place the muter

  • I have a big heavy metal mute like that but it does not not cut the sound on my violin as much as in this video ; I wish it did. I wonder what the difference is ?

  • Do you know exactly what kind of material it is composed?

  • how much does it actually mute? If somobody is sleeping in the next room about at about 3p.m. would he hear it??

  • i will buy one like this!

  • how could I get one?. im from Chile.

  • is that true?, i mean, the difference is awesome!.

  • the first guy with 3 hands!!

  • goodyo.

  • Thank you for posting this, I had no idea these metal mutes worked so much better than the cheap rubber ones.

  • Ive ordered one of these metla badboys similar to this so lets see how it turns out l :0

  • @dwaynedibbly hey, could you please tell me your opinion about the metal violin practice mute if you had a chance to try it? In my shop they had only the rubber/plastic version and there were almost no difference. If I were to order one from the internet I would like to know if it's worth it. Thanks

  • @inmauve sure, it's pretty much all I use now at home practicing. At first it sounded very tinny and buzzy like a knat but after practicing for a cpl weeks I don't even notice any more and it just sounds normal.

I was worried at 1st it would wreck my practice due to the sound differences etc. but I have been improving nicely with it on and have taken it off and noticed no difference in playing capability.

  • oh yes and if you are interested in the sound muting quality it is top notch imo. I also have a rubber one for an in between muting effect but just stick with the metal one. This badboy really dampens the sound!

I imagine for the neighbors it would sound like little more than a loud television if that.

  • @dwaynedibbly Thanks a lot. It really helps :)

  • wow this is a heavy duty mute :).

  • @dwaynedibbly Yes, I've never seen a violinist use such a bulky mute like this before!

  • Wow! I didnt realise how effective a mute is! I need one for orchestra and I wasnt sure if mine was actually doing anything

  • @iZiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii For orchestra you don't use this mute haha, this mute is for practising late at night or in apartments. For orchestra you get the normal mutes which don't mute much but only creates a muted effect for particular music. If you get this mute for orchestra you will be just covered by everyone else!

  • @CNFrostXY i think that is he want it to be :P

  • wow i have just bought a 15g heavy rubber version of your mute, will it be just as effective?

  • Very helpful video! Can you tell me what kind/brand of mute that is? It seems very effective and I need one to practice in my apartment without bothering anyone. Thanks!

  • Now that's a real mute.

  • Haha. What a perfect video.

  • thank you! You said everything without a word.

  • an actual comparison!

    Very helpful.

  • wow!! what a difference thanks!!!
