A friend sent me this video. I've avoided listening to this song since it came out because I remember it as extremely annoying.. I diddn't get the refrain. BUT if it's actually about Marilyn (whom I love), it makes a bit more sense. Still... I think she had a lot of enjoyment in her life, children or not. And she most certainly knew who she was, so what does "I've never been to me" mean?

Before I found this video, I never thought the song could be about Marilyn Monroe. Now I like thinking about her ghost singing it to some "discontented mother". It really makes for a good cry, doesn't it?

As I type this on Mother's Day, I feel terrible that MM never made her dream of having children come true. Who knows how she could've come to terms with that tragedy had she lived?

@MadameLil I think she had abortions... Muliple! Not trying to smear her image, just stating fact since it was brought-up that she missed out on being a mother. It was her choice. She had lots of opportunities. She's been married multiple times. She could've married anyone she wanted. I'm actually a fan... sort of. She was great in Bus Stop and Some Like It Hot.

She was never taught wright and wrong from anybody, something taken advantage of by anyone with a good mother or father or both, Monroe had weither. So if she was never taught abortions were wrong and everyone around her was doing it and everyone around her told her it was alright, she cannot be fully responsible.

@Iwtchutube She was taken advantage of and she was not able to be a mother because she was still a child and she was not ready at those times to have babies, no it was not meant to be and that is why she didn;t have children in the grand scheme of things, not becuase she was being punished for the abortions.. Why raise a child if you couldn't raise yourself? I feel that she knew this, it still doesnt deter her from wanting them.

And regarding her marriages, those were ligit. miscarriages, So that is a cheap shot with the marriage/abortion statement. She did not have children because she was going to be murdered and they would have been wards of the state like she was and she wouldn't have wanted that outcome for them. It was not meant to be period.
