actually for all those bashing his position and wearing his helmet inside. The position is pretty good, compact and aero. A lot of the time people can lose up to 20% power output by being to spread out on the bike (meaning elbows to far from the body).
Finally with the helmet on inside, I would suggest that if you are going to race with an aero helmet that you either get on your trainer beside a mirror or video tape your self for review later, seeing yourself in position can really help.
seriously, two major things need changing here. you need to invesst in a longer stem, and spend a little bit of time correctly positioning your seat to make your back more flat otherwise the money invested in that helmet was a waste, as they are designed for the tail to lie along your back! hope it helps
honestly I think your bike size is alright.. U could elect to get a longer stem..and push yur seat forward and higher to UCI limits. to flatten yur back..but bike size is ok
dude ur aero posistion is way 2 upright looks like ur bike is to small or summin and ur legs dont look comfortable wen pedalling summin aint right about ur posistioning dude
yeah nice gear....helmet is important in an closed room without wind...video sucked just like everyone else who need to pose on youtube with this shit....
But wouldn't that depend on if he is doing TT or Tri? It appears his video is linked to triathlon which would mean most Tri athletes tend to move their seat forward in order to engage less hamstring, saving it for the run after the bike ride.
I believe triathlons are not UCI sanctioned so it doesn't matter if the seat if further forward on the BB? I could be wrong.
Try sitting back on your seat more and lifting your chin so that you can almost feel the helmet touching you're back. Hope this helped !!! Happy Riding!!
has anybody noticed that after this guy saud theat he got a 9:26 time for the ironman (which is amazing) the texts saying that hes tt position isn't exactly good stopped?
maybe he's just comfortable in that position and in long tt like the ironman comfort is more important then aerodynamics because you have to have the legs for the 26.2 miles of running
i really dont wanna be a jerk, but i think that you should be using one size larger bike. Or maybe an inch longer stem- anyway right now your body is bent too much- it is very hard and exhausting to hold this position for an ironman distance. Also in this position your watt output is hurt.
but really, the helmet? lolm i would rate 5 stars if he fell off. haha. but really, the suit is for areodynamics, and if your not even moving...whats the point??
Yep nice bike, but are you sponsored by Scott or something - full long sleeved scott bike kit and an aero helmet - bet it made all the difference.......?
Yes I am sponsored by Scott. And it made a difference. New Ironman pb in Austria last weekend. 09.26.55 And qualified for Ironman Hawaii in october:-)
Hi, Thats an awesome time especially as it was such a hot weekend! Well done on qualifying for Hawaii! I was taking the piss cos of you wearing your helmet indoors on an turbo trainer, I was refering to the Aero helmet making the difference on an indoor trainer - but thats English humour for you - and if I've got to explain it....anyhow well done
:-) I got the humor. Video was taken to check out my position and optimise it. Changed it a bit after the video. Seat is now lower, aerobars more forward and wider apart. That made a difference:-)
bike is to small and you know it

just some advice
move your seat up a little so your not on the rivet. if you move your butt back youll get more power, your quads are strong, but you butt is stronger

Espen, you 9:26 Austria and 10:20 Kona? Was it so tough comparing to Austria?
spammax123 4 years ago
No it was not. My shape was a bit bether in Austria. It was hard training in the cold norwegian autum.
I swam 1.01 with wetsuit in Austria, 1.12 without in Kona. But Kona is tougher than Austria for sure;-)

@EspenWagener since what age have you been training for triathlon???
I can complete running, cycling but swimming is not for me xDDDD

Work on smothing out that pedal stroke. A Meteor2 and Zipps will not make up for power lost in sloppy pedaling!
