I study linguistics, and researchers have found there is NO known existing language that is linguistically related or a precursor to Korean. It's a real head-scratcher.

Sure, Korean has "hanja" which is borrowed from chinese characters, but that is just one subsystem of Korean writing, not the whole language it self.
