The entrance was Vince's idea. He asked Owen to do it, and even though Owen was terrified, he accepted because he loved his job. Own was afraid of heights and only practiced this stunt one time.

There was an accident with the safety release, which made Own fall to his death.

Some people may not know this, but the reason Owen Hart was forced into doing the Blue Blazer gimmick was actually a punishment by Vince McMahon. Vince McMahon had previously attempted to make Owen Hart associate him self with a sexual based storyline and Owen Hart refused to do it and requested for his release so he could join WCW and be with Bret Hart. Eric Bischoff already had a contract for him. Owen Hart hated the Blue Blazer gimmick, and this was his punishment, which killed him.

This was no suicide. It was a stunt-gone-wrong. A stunt which Owen didn't even want to do because of his fear of heights; but he went through with it because he feared being fired for backing out.

During a rehearsal, hours before the PPV, he went over that stunt and, to put it one way, he "white-knuckled" his way up there. Even getting up there and walking along the rafters terrified him.

When show time rolled around, his cable snapped and he fell. This was no suicide.
