  • The best waltz in C sharp monor Ip. 64 No. 3 that I ever heard in my life! That's the big pleasure to watch and to hear that. Thank you, you are great! Do the best as you can :)

Dziękuję :) Wspaniale jest usłyszeć coą tak wspaniałego. Gratuluję talentu! I zyczę wszystkiego co najlepsze! J.

  • Best interpretation I've ever heard and believe me, I heard many. But it is not surprising - who can play Chopin better than a Pole?

But I have one question: Why is he walking off the stage so fast? : )

  • @An2quamaraN hes nervous??

  • he brings out so many inner voices in this brilliant masterpiece; he certainly deserves 1st place

  • he looks so exhausted, let him go home and sleep - poor thing

  • starts at 1:59

  • how can 10 people dislike this?

  • Makes me wish I was Polish. I bow down.

  • Genetically he resembles to Chopin.. Maybe his unique interpretation and talent is explained because of that..like if he was made of something different as other piano players..The right touch, the right soul and genes to perform that way..

  • do they really applaud for 1 min and 39 sec? holy shit

  • perfecto!!!,

adoro toda la pieza, en especial en las partes 2:47 , 3:52 , y 5:02

    buen trabajo

  • @yourfriend7l este vals es precioso tambien puedes encontrarlo en mi cuenta de youtube interpretado por mi... no se comparan las versiones pero dime tu opinion

  • Washington must see

  • i enjoyed this performance so much that as if the video lasts for only a blink, and i have to watch and listen to it over and over again...!!!

  • What a gift!

  • the only thing i can say is WOW

  • I cannot imagine how Rafal Blechacz feels when he walks into a room where people stand up and admire him with such awe. He is has reached the peak of the mountain, people. I get the chills to see him! I get the chills. Bravo! Thank God for Chopin and this great pianist! I'd proud to be Polish just by Chopin.

  • This is the closest I've ever felt to Chopin. Amazing interpretation <3

  • great interpretation, so much feeling

  • This is seriously the most convincing interpretation of this piece I have ever heard. Everything it is perfection: the touch, the phrasing, the dynamic, the tempo,... He clearly deserves a standing ovation!

  • completely awesome!

  • after 3 years of searching, this is the best interpretation of this piece i have found...

  • I agree. It's so natural, so beautiful...

"I feel at home with Chopin" said him. I understand that when I'm listening to him.

  • @lifehappens imagine how you wasted your years!!! and you found just that! wow.

  • @lifehappens Didn't you listen to Rachmaninoff play this? I'm not derisive of Blechacz, he's one of my favourite artists... But Rubinstein, Rachmaninoff etc are much higher above!

  • i love playing this piece. its filled with so much passion.

  • first creators - they are genius. And they are one.Too many mans in our world can play indeed like that. But they cant make powerfull melody. If man replay somethin - he's sux.

  • Perfekt. Bravo, Rafal Blechacz!

  • na widowni widać pełną kulturę, ludzie wiedzą kiedy mają siedzieć cicho

  • this piece is like orgasmic!

I can play some of it.

I want to learn the rrest.

  • I can't play piu mosso well ^^

    Awesome performance

  • i love this piece so much which is why i find it so hard to study it myself, im so afraid to make mistakes..

  • He makes it look so damn easy!

    I play this piece.

    Love it!

  • Gentle. Chopin lives in Blechacz. Simply gentle.

  • I couldn't agree more! Just gentle, beautifully played, and not so much physical expression that distracts the audience from the beautiful music itself!

  • great!

  • When was this video taken?

  • Warsaw, Poland, Europe

  • thanks but my question was WHEN :)

I meant was it a long time ago or not?

  • 21 XI 2005

  • dziękuję ^^

  • I can't stop listening to this!

  • I love this so much, it tastes like toblerone!

  • Hello, let's see the fan site on Rafal Blechacz (winner or the 15th International Chopin Piano Competition) : rafalpianist.ifrance. com

  • i would kill to play on that piano. it's stunning..

he's not too bad either :)

  • ive played on a steinway before haha. though i am undeserving. because the keys are made of ivory, they tend to be slippery. but once you adjust, you really can make a unique sound - not like anyone else who plays it. steinways are famous for that reason.

  • I have played on a steinway too. They are beautiful, every note as clear as crystal, even when you play fast or with the pedal!

  • The first 1 min 30 seconds is applause... ...that's 25.9% of the whole video.

  • haha..u r too free

  • I start to believe that most of the people under music training have lost their true notion of music..Is there anyone here, without judging and criticizing, that is able to listen to this divine music, feel it's joy and be moved by it?? please everyone!!stop being ridiculously judgemental and start to LISTEN!

  • This is a very beautiful piece of music and Blechacz's interpretation is absoloutely wondferful! I agree with you 100%!

  • "Emotionally miserable"? Not all of Chopin is melodramatic and full of thunder. I think this interpretation was perfect and appropriate, not to say beautiful. If your piano teacher would have kicked you in the head for that performance, that would make them an idiot.

  • That's just what i'm saying,THANK YOU binblies! And next time kak2510, try not using technisisms to false out a completely valid approach. I WILL show you my interpretation and like I told you i'm not a concert pianist, and i'm sure I won't hear any good comments from you, but anyways i'm don't play piano so that people call it "romantic piece", I play piano to express my feelings, if you think that piece has any emotion whatsoever please try using something to clean our ears.

  • i think you should be 'kicked' for call a romantic piano piece 'song'. please let us hear your interpretation.

  • true.

  • absolutly this is the BEST part of "winner's concert"

  • This is the best time I've seen this played on youtube.

  • same here! after hearing this piece played by rafal blechacz, i just cant listen to anyone else play it

  • i've been searching through youtube versions (professional ones) of this waltz for almost an hour... i think this is my favourite so far!

  • I can't lsten to anybody else play it after listening to him!

  • One of the best versions of this waltz I have ever heard... A true master.

  • I think this is his favorite chopin piece cause this is the only one he plays meaningful during the whole competition

  • en el tercera parte le falta chicha pero por lo demas perfecto!

  • I'm like so much younger than him, but I have some stuff to say about this performance. He is pretty fast during the "Piu Lento" section of this piece. But his speed during Piu Mosso is pretty constant after the tempo rubato, not like me I play this piece more like the Minute waltz ;]

  • lucifer wow ur sorta rude there lol.. correction u were rude... the 3rd beat isnt "refined" its true.. but perhaps he intended it to be like that.. dont judge ppl by ur own perspective always

im about to play this in a competition in about 3 hours >.< im scared.. lol...

  • I like it how he plays it... great!

  • stop analyzing it and degrading it like that...he got standing ovation for his performance and won the competition...if ur so amazing y dun i see u competing. its embarassing how ur criticizing and downright insulting someone else;s work like that

  • Sorry fot that, but it seems your listening culture is insufficient. His performance is at the level of a real art! and those undermelody (as you said) are arts of polyphonic which are typical in Chopin's style of writing. These are basic which you should have learnt... my dear.

  • Ha ha - funny long distance online attempt at condescend!

  • Bullshit.

  • If you feel that voicing the thumb (like Godowsky did it) is not Chopinesque, then you don't know his music very well. Look at the markings in the l.h. of the D flat nocturne (as well as similar occurences in countless other works). It's actually 100x more natural here, than to emphasise the notes that he asks the player to bring out in order to imply lines within the texture.

  • I don't exactly find this playing overwhelming, but what is a 'refined' 3rd beat? That's a new one.

  • 3 beat refined with choice. His not well chosen, not what a waltz is. Stick out, clipped. Waltz regal dance of grace, restraint. 3rd beat must be less. Go to "1" then. Sorry if you not hear before.

  • They are short but very few of them are 'clipped'. That is something entirely different. 'Waltz' is a wide ranging term and there is certainly no substance to the idea that they cannot be played with short third beats. They don't 'stick out' either. If you use your ears you'll find that the 2nd beat is given more of an emphasis, quite consistently. Also, it has been widely stated that Chopin's waltzes were not designed for dancing to. He used the form in his own manner.

  • Nobody said anything about dancing (good try, different argument). Childish phrase "if you use your ears" not worth arguing.

  • Indeed, it's not worth arguing with somebody who makes the ludicrous claim that the 3rd beat is 'sticking out' here. If you can't hear properly then it's not going to lead anywhere. It's almost as amusing as your claim that the first bar of the thirds study should be played 'from the wrist' and not with the fingers. I didn't say that you referred to dancing, but you DID imply that with reference to short 3rd beats. Look at some of Chopin's pedal marks in the waltzes. Short 3rd beats are fine.
