  • Welcum to da secund edition of da alchemical guitarast column, now wher da fucks my whiskey!!!!!???$%^&*

  • I kind of get his overall theory here but he's very bad at explaining it. Basically what he trying to say if that there are certain patterns and that "once you get going" on a pattern it's easy to know which notes come next... but he does horrible at explaining this.

  • Never start a student on the nut.....got it.

  • Richard, could you do the same for a minor?

  • Richard is a genius.

  • i can't understand this logic

  • cant find the column typed out anywhere, that sucks!!!! very intellectual pattern recongition but the column would help visual learners.

  • Man this is probably the most important thing I have ever learned on guitar playing. I have usually learned riffs and this transformed my playing in a very profound way.

thanks. love Television. Love your sound. How did you get that great tone on Call Mr. Lee? thanks again.

  • from reading the comment not really anyone understands this.

  • this video is useless without a general knowledge of music theory. most of these videos are pointless because the majority of guitarists don't know fundamental theory. lessons on scales and intervals would need to take place to understand this even a little. also, whats the point when he does not really explain the concept or the use of what he just taught.

  • @punky246810 - the problem as I see it is that they print tabs which are useless if you can actually follow any of the videos. By the time you can follow the videos you can find so many songs by ear. It would make so much more sense for them to print lessons to get people up to the level of the videos...but I guess more people just want tabs than want any kind of theory lessons in print.

  • I didnt understand a god damned thing, eh oh well I don't need to know any music theory.

  • 5147362. 5147362. 5147362. 5147362. 5147362. 5147362. 5147362. 51473625 Oh God it's stuck in my head

  • This is only the second place/site I've seen the modes and their relative positions described in the way I think of them but I go by the mode names. Descending, it is LIMDAPL!

  • This is only the second place/site I've seen the modes and their relative positions described in the way I think of themm but I go by the mode names. Descending, it is LIMDAPL!

  • I wish I could understand this more but I think I need to be more adept at music theory and guitar in general, or something

  • @ANIM0SI7Y - the text would help actually. he keeps referring to it. by the time u see it online or on demand it's off shelves and u have to order from the guitar world shop :(. Thing is you want/need the column to follow. I'm convinced that with a lot of these lessons, if you can just follow along w/o the column there's a great chance you don't actually need said lessons.

  • I really like how he dissects the history as well, it makes theory make sense.

  • Jeez, lay off the negative and personal remarks and do some homework. Richard approaches the instrument and the physics behind the music in a novel and interesting way. Not the ONLY way, and maybe not a way that's useful for you. Have some respect for the man. If you don't want to explore this, or can't, , there's always Mel Bay.

  • This guy is very good. Brilliant, in fact. Don't let his quirky personallity distract you from that fact. It would be like Eienstien trying to explain physics to the layman.

  • 1234125453523532

    Get it guys?

  • the try tone or true tone ?

cuz it's not looks like true tone ..

  • @MetalMaleProstitute

    its "tritone"

  • Richard Lloyd had some serious drug problem during the 70's when he created magic with Television. :) Which explains his appearance here. Absolutely brilliant guitarist, absolutely brilliant band.

  • Richard has been my teacher for several months now and has taken me from being another mere"guitar player" to becoming a musician.

You mock what you don't understand.

  • @edwina9 very envious... wish I had the money, he's doing lessons via skype as well (for those of us not in NYC)... just can't afford anything right now :-(

  • @edwina9

You're very lucky ! I've made a giant leap in my playing since I followed his column in guitar world. How do you get in touch with him ? You just call ?!

  • @edwina9 By watching and reading Richard's lessons I was able to extend my musical knowledge.

  • WTF?!?!

  • Radiant Monkey has good songs on it. Especially "Amnesia", "Glup" and "Kapla Tree"

  • ya i understand that its theory but...this guy has to be drunk or high or something i dont know but this is fuck nuts lol

  • is this music?

  • @digtbk Its music theory

  • от сука алкаш)))))))))

  • I've read his articles and they're actually really good. I'm sure it's easier to follow in written form. Highly recommended. I don't think that the video necessarily does his column justice but GW thinks that everything has to be multimedia nowadays, though it might make a good supplement to the written material.

  • could anyone send me what ever videos there are on torrent!!!

  • huh... do only i get this?

  • Sounds intresting but i'm not willing to spend the money on this BS,time to check the torrents

  • hmmmm, no wonder he is the Alchmaical guitarst, y axe plays notes and scalse not BR1562156 and 6+335581645

  • I feel that this guy has not only smoked the marijuna !! Warning about mushrooms : don't smoke ! They lose their essential virtues !

  • This guys columns are kick-ass, so freaking helpful but...

...is he on weed? He's fucked up right now.

  • This borders on the incoherent.

  • i can't follow this guy...

  • Sicence cant follow this guy

  • Maybe it's because I'm fucked up on coke right now, but that made absolutely no fucking sense.

  • @DwayneJKing hahaha!!! re watch it later on, trust me, this is very important stuff this guy is saying

  • you get it. NO

He goes too fast, my brain only works at half speed. hehehehe

    Maybe I'll watch it again

  • uhh... what?

  • this guy probly knows things we cant imagine

  • i am depressed

  • Dude is on meds! Okay, so he said that was major scales? But what the eff is 8675309, BR549 junk? My guitar plays keys/notes. Who would like to break down what just happened here?

  • nic moc..... preklad... idiot

  • hes kind of a doucher. hes kind of a bad teacher

  • damn I need some weed to understand him

  • omg he makes me feel like such an idiot

  • @jetermd yeah but goddamn is he ugly lol

  • He got the drug

  • Is he drunk or what?

  • How's that acid treating you? Chasing them magic numbers.. Open Sesame agricup agricultural AGRICULTURAL the magic ins to the secret of music... who let this guy in the studio?

  • @JoeGuitarGuy this is an important step for many players to take,

  • @JoeGuitarGuy

your comment is ALMOST as meaningless as your bad guitar playing.

  • wow dude i want what hes on!

  • I'll have whatever he's smoking.

  • Really practical exercise.

  • the dvd probably worth the money i'd say

  • pointless lesson.that doesnt makes u a better musician as he says.these r just simple major scales.

  • it's not your phone number

  • that was pretty sweet

  • What amp is he using? Is that a head next him or a reverb unit?

  • very very old supro thunderbolt head
