Great video! I agree about coarse hair, perming for me is three times a year. But it takes patients and lots of care with your hair. A positive attitude and good diet also are key to healthy coarse hair growing. Your videos are wonderful keep them coming pretty lady! Always have that positive attitude in life it will get you further than you can imagine.
@alonso1232000 whats even more annoying is the fact that you had to tell me that it was annoying which was pointless! but hopefully it made u feel better about something smh idk
I have very thick and coarse hair and every summer (2 1/2 months) I stretch and my hair is never straight on the first relaxer. I usually get one either four or five weeks later.
Hey how long did it take for u to grow ur hair that long?was ur hair always long an healthy since u were younger?do u perm at home or salon?get back an let me know thanks:)
i have a question how often did u use the castor oil a week on your scalp is it just every time u wash your hair? and how long did it take for your hair to grow that long? also is the castor oil what sped up the process of your hair growing?
Castor oil is a great choice for growing out your hair. Also, it will make your hair much thicker and fuller and it works great for people with damaged edges. I prefer to use Jamaican black castor oil but just regular castor oil can work great as well. My hair is maybe 3inches longer than ULOVEMEGS, but I don't have a relaxer, I only get it flat iron if I want a straight look. For me, its best to use after you wash your hair, but you can also use it everyday, just use a small amount.
@TheRoyaldiamond I've never used african hot oil so I can't say anything abt it. I'm pretty sure the oil is great for hydrating dry brittle hair, almost any hot oil is great for that. Do alittle research on it before you try it. I've been using black jamaican castor oil for abt 5 months now and I CAN say it REALLY TRUELLY WORKS!!! Good luck to ya!! ;0)
@TheRoyaldiamond It depends on the style I rock. If I'm rocking my natural, I'll apply A VERY SMALL AMOUNT through out my hair and scalp every 2 to 3 days. I personally don't mix it with other oils and most people do that just to thin it out due to it being a VERY THICK oil. If I'm wearing a wig or a weave, I saturate my scalp and the ends of my hair because I usually go a month (I try lol) wearing that style just to give my real hair a rest. Now if I straighten my hair..... continue..
@TheRoyaldiamond ..... I'll apply a VERY SMALL amount to the ends of my hair, just to seal in moisture. I'm careful not to weight down my hair when its straightend. Now this is how I use the oil, but it depends on how your own hair reacts to the oil. Its important to know that this oil will most likely make your scalp itch when you 1st start using it. It took a while for the itch to go away from my scalp. There are diferent reasons why the oil make the scalp itch, do research abt it 1st.
@TheRoyaldiamond Thats no problem hun. My state don't carry the oil, so I have to order it online. I get mine at Sams247.com They have a variety of things, but I only order the oil. They carry the REAL jamaican black castor oil.
hey megz , i m trying to grow out my hair as i have suffered tremendous chemical damage to the middle of my head, would u suggest jus relaxing the hairline to give it that fresh look even when like 8 months have passed
I'm planning to do my relaxer on 26th March which would make me 18 weeks post relaxer. I used to go to the hairdresser, but my hair fell out at the crown the last time I went there. I want to do it myself, but I'm scared... which is why I'm 18 weeks post. Have you ever done your hair without Ashley? How did you feel about changing from Affirm to ORS?

Gorgeous hair , question ...have you ever had a color or dye your hair...mine started breaking what should i do or use to get it back healthy and what products do you use as far as conditioner creams and hair products.
I've read somewhere that after a relaxer, your hair is supposed to maintain some sort of texture. The "waviness" still left after you've relaxed your hair is a sign that your hair isn't being overprocessed and that it's still in its healthiest state for it to be relaxed.
i relaxed at 14 weeks post and it didnt come out as straight as i wanteded it too. how long should i wait until i relax it again because it looks texlaxed and that wasnt my goal lol so if you have any suggestions let me know thanks(:

u r the cutest thing ever & your hair is just beautiful. it's good you don't leave the relaxer on past the suggested time, that's probably why your hair is so long and healthy. keep takin care of that hair girl! :)
i am in love with your hair die hard bro!! im soo jelous. it is literally IMPOSSIBLE for me to grow my hair pass my shoulders and to stop it from breaking off. i might just cut it off and start all over again.
do you blow dry your hair every time you get a relaxer or air dry....and if u air dry how does you hair get so straight without putting heat on it? like what do you do with your hair to make it that way?
You have beautiful hair. I have fairly long hair... not as long as yours... I find that after using the same brand of relaxer for so long, my hair tends to get used to a relaxer (not straighten as well). I find that alternating between two different brands (I really like the Elasta QP and Olive Oil) every six or so months it tends to work out better for me.
Your hair looks nice, I think it's great that you stretch your relaxers and that you do not over process your hair...which is why you still have your edges...though I no longer use relaxers I do appreciate a channel geared towards women who still use relaxers so that they know how to do it right.
Now your hair is relaxer. Can you kindly show me what is your next steps will be like as your weekly relaxer routinue? Could you be able to show us your video what is your each day look like? I wanted to see how you do it as weekely basics. Am I making any sense?
I found the long hair care forum app and I was wondering how long does like ur hair grow cos I have like the same type and I want to grow my hair 2-3 inches.
@umemmy1 The most important thing to do if you want those inches is to keep your hair moisturized with a product that does NOT contain petroleum/mineral oil/lanolin. Then you have to keep those ends protected so wear a bun or do one tucked under braid. Limit heat use as well. But keep the hair moisturized and keep the ends tucked away. Hair grows 1/2 inch per month so if you are retaining the length, you should have your inches by July/August. Good luck!
We have the same hair type and i have been using castor oil, and my new growth has been thicker and it seems that the texture changed as well. And I relaxed my hair and it didnt take that well....so castor oil really works!
Pretty hair cont update on relaxers. I used to use ORS relaxer in normal for a few years too. But my last relaxer 2 months ago I used Silk Elements 'Lye' Relaxer w/shea butter (brown jar). My hair felt healthier, stronger, softer, shinier&"bouncy". Something my hair hasn't felt in a long time using ORS 'No Lye'. I did my research on-line&youtube to get clear info on the diff. No-Lye=harsh on hair Lye=harsh on scalp. Relaxers don't go on the scalp only NG/hair. Try this relaxer&see how you like it.
Hello...your hair is beautiful as always. Just wanted to say that it's possible that the reason your hair isn't processing as straight as you'd like or as it used to because you may need to change relaxers. Sometimes when you use a product too long, your hair stops responding to it because it is so used to the product. Don't worry, the change will not damage your hair as long as you do your research. My suggestion is to use a "Kiddie" relaxer such as Just For Me or PCJ Pretty and Silky :)
I have this theory, you've heard of scab hair. What if that same concept apply to castor oil, making the new growth a bit resistant to relaxers? This would account for the thickening and different texture. But I couldn't explain how in natural hair??
@bamsladi lol shes fully black, she said b4 ppl have this stereotype that mixed girls have long hair. But she said it's a myth and ANYONE can get healthy long hair if they take care of it. So yeah lol megan said shes black in a way earlier vid. :)
I do love watching your updates. your information is great and comes off very honest. after watching your videos and reading the comments I see people get so taken aback with the ways in which you do some of the things or hair products with the so called bad stuff but it works for you and thats what counts. I have now started staying away from the bad ingredients for about 2 years but growing up used the bad ingredients and had great results but time progresses and so does knowledge. THANKS
i luv u, u are too cute. thanks for tryin to show us your length. do you take hair vitamins like biotin? I love castor oil but the smell gets frustrating after a while
I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting your hair vids! :) I started my journey May 2010 and my hair has already grown 4 inches! I used a lot of your techniques mixed with my own and a couple other people's and my hair has done a complete 180! I think I watch your hair videos the most. I also learned your eyebrow technique which I absolutely LOVE (where you use concealer, etc). Thank you thank you thank you and good luck reaching mid-back length, I know you will! ~ Z
I'm not a licensed cosmetologist, but I've heard over the years that we should change the type of relaxers at times. Like back and forth. Maybe use one brand for awhile then go to using the organics root stimulator. That may help with getting your roots straighter.
@d35chae90 - I was thinking the same thing as I was watching this video. I've gone through this over all the number of years that I've been self-relaxing. There are relaxers I've tried that I absolutely loved, but after a while, the results would change. I would switch to another brand that I know works well on my hair for the next couple of touch-ups, then go back to my preferred brand. I still end up with my desired result!
I just brought the edge control today because i didn't leave my relaxer in as long also because I want to avoid over-processing my hair like i used to. And I can definitely say that I'm in love with it already.
Megz how do u feel abt hair color rinse...I wud think its betta than permanent Dye... do u know any Gud rinse in jet black I just found 1 gray strand in my hair n I'm in my mid twenties so I can't be having dat ...
@kodakgirl24 - Try either Jazzing or Beautiful Collections (both by Clairol). I've been using Beautiful Collections for years. It's a Semi-Permanent color that works lovely with relaxed hair.
I swear before you started talking about you using the castor oil I was like wow her hair looks thick! it looks great as always. and it looks like you are mbl

Can u do a video of how u put ur braids in for your braid out videos
arienne321 1 year ago
I have this theory, you've heard of scab hair. What if that same concept apply to castor oil, making the new growth a bit resistant to relaxers? This would account for the thickening and different texture. But I couldn't explain how in natural hair??

Your hair is gorgeous; so inspiring.
Do you want to leave your hair at mid back length or keep growing it?
and is the Organic Root Stimulator Edge Control the same product you use on your hair when it's in a braidout/messy bun?

I do love watching your updates. your information is great and comes off very honest. after watching your videos and reading the comments I see people get so taken aback with the ways in which you do some of the things or hair products with the so called bad stuff but it works for you and thats what counts. I have now started staying away from the bad ingredients for about 2 years but growing up used the bad ingredients and had great results but time progresses and so does knowledge. THANKS

That may help with getting your roots straighter.
d35chae90 1 year ago
@d35chae90 - I was thinking the same thing as I was watching this video. I've gone through this over all the number of years that I've been self-relaxing. There are relaxers I've tried that I absolutely loved, but after a while, the results would change. I would switch to another brand that I know works well on my hair for the next couple of touch-ups, then go back to my preferred brand. I still end up with my desired result!

I just brought the edge control today because i didn't leave my relaxer in as long also because I want to avoid over-processing my hair like i used to. And I can definitely say that I'm in love with it already.

kodakgirl24 1 year ago
@kodakgirl24 - Try either Jazzing or Beautiful Collections (both by Clairol). I've been using Beautiful Collections for years. It's a Semi-Permanent color that works lovely with relaxed hair.
