  • that's b.s.

  • So much technical incompetence >_>

  • Learn witch gpu s are for actual work and then talk 580 is for gamer nobody needs them even if they where 10 of them in sli try vfire or quadro fx

  • mac are way far ahead pc's for those who want to do actual work with demanding programs like autocad or so... pc's are for 15 year old kids that the most demanding program they use is warcraft...well i ve been using pc's for a long time and i dont want to go back to an unstable software that 60% of the time all it does is getting me a blue screen...

  • @kinnis0N you cant even have triple sli 580 with a mac good luck running demanding programs

  • The guy in this video is at least half tarded. Sending an obviously outdated Mac pro with 2 gb of ram into the ring against a fresh off the line vista machine with 6 gb ram. Are u serious dude? The Mac pro doesn't have a prayer. Post a video of a top of the line Mac pro vs. A top of the line windows 7 PC or STFU!

  • Hmm. My i5 mac mini beats that mac pro :S

  • Mac sucks does a apple have at least 1000 games on steam I don't think so but what it dies have is Craig products which people get to attached to apple sucks but nit the iPod

  • @thrd4me Tbh every time you buy a Mac you get free cake...That was the deal breaker for me!

  • @TheTechPlank ya i know i have an ipod and i got a small cupcake

  • @thrd4me lol, i better not start writing down all the professional software mac has.

i find it strange how a person that thinks that a computer is good because it has several games available. Games? Are you serious, LOL.

  • @teknoplayer so you just randomly scroll thro comments are you a stalker hold on im gona call the cops

  • @thrd4me So you just randomly jump to conclusions. FYI your comment was the featured one.

  • @thrd4me why cant ppl understand that macs are meant to do actual pro work while an average pc is for gaming and surfing... the fact that all hipster noobs buy macs because they are all shiny and all doesnt change the fact that macs target group are pros... so each machine has its own role... even in its basis there are hundreds of different proccesors so a pro might use a xeon proccesor and a gamer will use an i7 proccesor there is no need for someone to pay 3000$ to play crisis and l4d

  • @kinnis0N ok well i do get your point and i have changed my mine since i have put this comment i do see that most video editers like freddiew or most ppl but i myself am i pc user so i do see that pc is more for gaming and mac is for editing but both can be used as equal only mac my not be able to run the same programs they are great machines

  • a standard gaming pc would flog a mac any day, some macs have got the known parts as a standard computer. if apple started to make their own processors, hardware you name it they will fail at it but if they started when intel, amd etc maybe they might of succeeded but its to late now for apple to create their own.

  • mac pro is about expandability not voiding your imac warranty for just adding a esata cable etc

u can only add ram on a imac

on a mac pro you can add way more

  • Also, only running 1 benchmark is quite stupid, it may be biased.

You should at least run 10 different cpu benchmarks to get closer to reality.

  • how about duo core 2 i7 core is faster than that im i right??

  • how about duo core 2 i7 is faster than im i risght ??

  • This versus don't show nothing... why you don't compare the actual macpro (basic config is sufficent" with a new i7 980x ?. The macpro obviously have the best result. a macpro from early 2006 with this score compare with your i7 is the winner because your i7 don't show you a 14000 point but 8000 ... a macpro from early 2006 result 5000 "with 667 ddr" you in your i7 probably have a 1333mhz ram 2006 vs 2009/2010 processor. This show only that apple engineers are the best .

  • This versus don't show nothing... why you don't compare the actual macpro (basic config is sufficent" with a new i7 980x ?. This show only that Apple engineers are the best.

  • @whitefatdj mate i have to disagree with you on that...apple dont suuply their own processors and hardware, apple get their processors from other companys like amd ,nvida, intel. if apple started to create their own processors they will fail at it. and will lack the capacity's. A standard or a high end gaming pc will flog any apple computer on their market. Apple have to get their parts from other companys. so i dont think apple engineers are the best. its only the OS make it fast

  • @calvinchoe100 so alienware that are the best gaming pc's have alienware processors then? GET REAL... the thing that counts is the interior architecture of the unit and the stability of the software in coop with the hardware smthing that most pc's loose after the 1st year whilst mac's dont...and u can try mac os on pc also there is a way but even if it will be faster there will be many probs except if u have spended at least 700$ and taken care of everything....

  • This versus dont show nothing... why you dont compare the actual macpro (basic config is sufficent" with a new i7 980x ?. The macpro obviously have the best result.

  • my desktop uses a $150 amd chip and it steamrolls your macbook too. Roughly 7000 points

  • New MacBook pro beats this now ha

  • LOL. Fucking OWNED. Another OS X fail.

  • oh, sorry, i didnt realize. but i hope YOU realize that paying a grand for 12 gigs of even the best of ram is double the price you should pay. thats where you got ripped off. also, ok you have i7 980x worth 1000. with another 2500, you can make a KILLER machine.

  • upgrade the ram to 6gb or more then it will be more comparible

  • my 12 core 3.66ghz, 12gb ram, 2gb grafics, triple hdmi out with 7.1 surround sound pc well kick the shit out of every mac...only 3500$

  • @skaterguy1423 lol 7.1 surround, thats stupid to mention in your specs. i think you got ripped off if you payed $3500 for that pc. also, 12gb graphics, for what? video editing? your cpu speed doesnt make sense, im guessing you have an i7 9xx extreme 6 core with hyperthreading, but any i7 from 960 to 980x could EASILY be OC'd to well beyond 4.0 ghz. with $3500, i can build the best pc IN THE WORLD! including a 120gb ssd , 980x, and a 580 sli!

  • @dirty1smelly1turban WTF are you talking about?? 7.1 surround sound is how i game and watch blu ray movies on my TV. bro every computer that i get next better have 7.1 audio out cause its awesome. and how the fuck did i get ripped off?? the processor its self costs over 1 grand. the 12gb mem. sticks are for running multiple cod or minecraft servers at once. another grand, the gpu, video, audio, 2 TB HDD, and the 24' 1920x1200 was another 1500. so how the fuck did i get ripped off.

  • @skaterguy1423 . well, first off. i know 7.1 is good. 12 gb ddr3 for 1 grand? my dominator gt 2000ghz 2x3gb (6gb) 8-9-8-24 costs $200 (12 gb is $500). its probability the best ram out there, competing with the ocz reaper, muskin redline and kingston hyperx. what graphics card do you have? for 1500, you could buy WAY more. here is what you could get for 3500: asus rampage 3 extreme, i7 980x, 12gb ram, gtx 580, water cooling, 64gb ssd, 150gb velociraptor, 1tb caviar black, HAF X case, monitor

  • @dirty1smelly1turban there is no way in hell you got 12 x 2000ghz ram card that costs only 200$ i looked all over ebay i saw nothing that cheap....

  • @skaterguy1423 wtf? go to corsairs website and see. or go to newegg and search dominator gt 2000 they are $230 for 6gb. or go to canadacomputers (where i get my parts): canadacomputers(dot)com/product_info.php?cPath=24_311_312_614&item_id=032319

  • @dirty1smelly1turban thats 2000mhz....

  • @skaterguy1423 yes? what else higher would you like. the fastest ram in the world is 2400mhz (the ocz reapers) SO WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THATS 2000MHZ?... i dont think you know much about ram, or you are confused. please explain.

  • @dirty1smelly1turban your retard who posted 2000ghz bud

  • Oh my Lord... the only difference between the i7 and Xeon CPU's is the ability to run dual CPU's (QPI) and the ability to run ECC RAM.

Xeon's are not faster than i7's. Server's use Xeons because of their ability to run two chips. i7's can run all day long, just like the Xeon.

Im beginning to think that youtube has made the tech community a bunch of retards.

  • @pkerry12 It being a Xeon doesn't imply higher performance than a Core counterpart. They are, most of the time, built with same chips. For example, a Core 2 Duo E8400 and a Xeon E3110 are the exact same 3.0 GHz Wolfdale chip with 6 MB of cache. Same for the Core i7 960 and the Xeon W3565, which are the same 3.2 GHz Bloomfield chip with 8 MB of cache. You shouldn't expect any performance difference between them.

  • @NewLynxChannel I wasn't implying Higher performance I was highlighting the fact that Xeons are work horses, they run for ever at constant speeds with out breaks they maintain performance for extended hours beyond any home user CPU like Core 2 duo, and I7s, and i3s etc etc its not the same people need to get it into there heads that Xeons and home user shit like i7's are not the same, if they were organisations all over the world would put i7 cpus in there servers.

  • my overclocked i7 920 scored in excess of 12,000 on that lousy geekbench. Use 3D Mark Vantage or PC Mark for a legit benchmark.

  • @ImperialArmour and thats not legit either..... thats the problem with a cross platform benches every os handles instructions different tho every unix system feels like running faster even if it is on a slower cpu with less ram-- anyways the quad core macs do use intel cpus either.. this is nonsense

  • Just something from a Linux benchmark paper i read....

One of the biggest drawbacks was the overall inconsistency in scores. I tested Geekbench in all the supported OSs, namely OSX, Windows and several distributions, keeping the hardware intact across every OS. Initially developed for Mac OS, Geekbench still favours

that OS by delivering the highest scores on it. The claims of providing an OS-neutral benchmarking engine seem hollow,

and the statements are contradictory to the scores.

  • My Lenovo Workstation gets 30100. (Dual Xeon X5680)

    Where is your god now?

  • My Mac Pro gets 11749

  • You do realize that both mac and pc use the same damn computer parts! The only difference is the operating system. An 8 core mac though cant have whatever you want in it due to the fact they dont offer as much as any customizable pc. An evga SR-2 mother board is an dual processor motherboard just like mac finally jumped along and used. How well does mac overclock? Oh well, not to much at all.

  • mac shitssssss!!!!! suckssssss!!!

  • mac shitssssss!!!!! suckssssss!!!

  • this guy knows shit. Ofc the i7 would hack his old mac pro. HAHAHA the fastest at geekbench is a mac? WELL OF COURSE, cause I haven't seen 8-core i7 sold for normal people. At most we can get for now is a 6-core i7 and that'd cost me and other people 1000€. Still if I were to build a sick PC beating that shit Mac, It'd cost a lot less. All you buy from Apple is design and interface which PC can do too for less money and more brain. Apple makes people dumb, and it's not without its problems too.

  • MACs are a pc locked to apple shit buddy.

let see cpu's Motorola was first, then they went IBM(a pc brain in a mac) in the mid 90's, ten or so years later they went intel making them a full pc with unix LOL.

maybe only a mac in the moto days.

  • olle como va a tener esa nota tan callamapa el core i7 si yo tengo un core 2 duo de 2.8 ghz y tiene un 6.2 en nota

  • this guy doesn't know shit....

  • It's nothing to do with PC vs Mac, frankly they're both Intel based.

Mainly it's not the amount of RAM, it's how it functions in the same model & brands, pairs. CAS latencies and the speed of the RAM.

The 8 Core Xeon is going to be fast no mater what, it's a high-grade performance CPU that's meant for extreme situations, rendering in mega industries or just enthusiastic benchmarking fanatics.

  • fucking retard you dont know shit just be cause they put an intel cpu in mac dont mean mac is better dumb fuck

  • MAC is Shiit ?

    who need MAC ?!

    PC is Best.

  • @no1Reality

I use Mac when I make music.

  • that shows that core i7 is a good processor. Not that a PC is better.

  • the 8 core cost a billion pounds

  • @ForgeOracle haha!

  • nice spirit 4p's haha

  • but they both use the same architecture so it will depend on the person building a pc rig..

  • first off an 8 core mac pro means dual cpu.. second if you build a rig like for example an evga classified sr2 which can equip 2 5680 xeons which has 12 cores i bet that would eat that mac pro alive.. even the brand new mac pro only has 5670's on them so macs cant really match up with pcs.. add the fact that you can over clock the shit out of a pc which mean higher cpu, gpu, and memory speeds = higher score o a benchmark..

  • Its not a fair test? Its not even a reasonable test. The i7 is a new generation of intel processors. Heck, the i7 920 at 2.66 ghz beats the core 2 quad qx 9700 extreme edition at 3.2 ghz (even considering that the core 2 quad has 4 mb more L2 Cache)

in most of the tests. So there is no reason at all why the older xeon (which is practically identical to the core 2 quad) will beat the i7. Even if you bump up the ram.

  • yeah and btw there is no such thing as a geek or nerd that likes mac.

  • @floridabowhunter *Chris Pirillo

  • It's not the hardware, it's the operating system what makes the Mac the best computer in the world

  • btw the new one can be bought with 12 cores, 26 GB of ram, it can be expanded up to 8 tb of storage and quad graphics processers. Id like to see any microsoft computer beat that custom or not!

  • Comment removed

  • @sxfilms101 btw a windows pc could be made w/ this config: AMD: 48 cores, 16 tb of storage, 128 gb ram, nvidia 5800 that could kick the mac's graphics processor's ass. or intel: 12 cores, 12 tb storage, 96 gb ram, liquid cooling, and 2x ATI 5970s= quad graphics (2 graphics units on a single pcb) id like to see any mac computer beat that or not!

  • you need to take in consideration that windows vista was the worst os made ever. the second is most likely windows 97; it crashed on its debut. btw that macs memory is most likely filled so if it wasnt it whould kick that windows butt!

  • lol, who cares, the mac is fast enough

  • In the end is still a Intel cpu... The Mac pro use a Intel Xeon X5482 cpu. Which cost $800+. The Intel i7-920 cost $294.99.

  • @orioncheung i wonder why, can ur shitty i7 do error correcting and hav twice the cache?, can i7 use ecc ram? nope. ok i7 is public grade, and xeon is workstation grade. plus my mac pro geek score of over 10000

  • @TheGuiletech Yep, Apple Marketing deportment at its best. /facepalm

  • @TheGuiletech lets be real here. "NVIDIA GeForce GT 120" enough said.

  • @orioncheung lets be real here, gtx 285, quadro fx 4800 for mac, u just fucked urself bud :P

  • Comment removed

  • core i7 980x 3.33Ghz cost £800

  • Yeah, if you really believe the results from those benchmark tests. You can only find out this stuff by actually using the machines to do stuff that is useful. Or kind of useful.

  • The new iMac gets 8094.

  • is a 4095 score nice? i did on my quad core 2,66 ghz

  • The Core i7 is a SEX GOD a macBOOK pro now has an i7!!! and that little laptop will be blowing the desktop out of the water. EASY. still, we are talking about insanely powerful computers, and the mac pro should be proficient an any process you throw at it

  • @JAKExTHExRAKE The desktop i7 is 4 core/ 8 threads at: 2.66+ GHz on the LGA1366 socket and 2.8+ GHz on the LGA1156 socket. Mobile is 2.66 GHz 2 core/ 4 threads or 1.6 to 1.86 GHz 4 core/ 8 thread.

Apple uses the more energy efficient but weaker 2.66 GHz dual core version, so it will be at the most half as fast as the desktops with real i7s.

  • @frostyfireman Mobile i7 are simulated quad core??? Pullin' out the cloak much! I thought the i5s were the only simulated ones?

  • @JAKExTHExRAKE By "simulated" I'm assuming you mean virtual, it's the term that's commonly used with Intel's hyperthreading (HT) on the i-series.

I agree, the dual core i7 mobiles are essentially high clocked i5s. They still have on chip graphics and the same features as the i5s. Very lame and confusing that's for sure.

The Quad core mobile i7s have no Graphics on the chip to make room for the extra two cores and the 4MB extra Cache. They are the real deal.

  • Nearly a fair test ;) !

  • Does anyone know what motherboards takes two 6-core processors?

  • Sorry. Couldn't help you with that one. I've only seen one mother board with two CPU sockets but it was for the Core I7.

  • @TechTV111 I know Boxx sells 12 core workstations but I don't know what the motherboard is. I only know that it runs AMD.

  • first of all the macs run on Intel processors so theres not much to brag about there. Besides AMD is far better. Their cheaper, their faster, their cooler, and their easier to over clock and even unlock cores. get a computer with an AMD Phenom x4 CPU clocked at at least 3.0 GHz and Windows 7 64 bit and it will by far whip both of those computers.

  • @minibaby123456789 I fucking love the new AMD six core CPU! ATI and AMD FTW! Not that Nvidia and Intel isn't bad, actually they make really good products also. It is all about personal preference :)

  • 1:09 xD XD xD you look funny good video an and ovius i7 extreme are a best!! hyper threading turbo boost like baaa!

  • Approximately how much faster is the Core i7 than the Core 2 Quad?

  • @youngdones a lot damn!

  • i got the 8 core mac pro and i had no idea it was so fast : O

  • I'll keep my watercooled 4.4ghz i7 920, thanks.

  • @Pozzoooo

Intel Xeons are for servers. i7s are for "standard" home computers.

  • i get higher score and i run Q9650 on 4.30Ghz...

  • Get a tripod dude..........jeez

  • What was the original cost of the mac vs the total cost of the custom pc?

  • iMac is 9000 and the new Mac Pro is more than 10000 now what you showed is nothing.

  • what the fuck is the point in this video lol

  • @killswitcher That's exactly the point! There isn't one it's just a bit of fun showing how much difference only a few years can make.

  • Of course the eight core is faster. 8 core > 4 core. You put that in to a realistic scenario and the 8 core will show its inferiority. It can't communicate nearly half as well as a 4 core i7.

  • hand hell

  • HOOO BOY wait till the 6 core i7 comes out " COMPETITION WITH A CAPITAL C'

  • @Apsco60 What are you talking about, 6 core i7 980 was out like two month ago.

  • This is a silly test, the Mac Pro only has a 667 frontside Bus, DDR2... please compare like-for-like... CPU is only part of the equation, Get your hair cut!

  • mac is a pile of shit

  • @foladko Obviously have never used one

  • @gmaster45612374

trust me, I have and I never want to see one again

  • HEY people which is the Best i7 or core 2 Quad

  • @XyaKhan i7 and The i5 750 are better than most Core 2 quads

  • no vista goes up to 7.9

  • @seethootss 7 goes up to 7.9

    vista only goes 5,9

  • @xXxreallydontcarexXx Ok Ok sorry, you are right, i forgot about windows 7 thats what my other computer has and that went up to a 6.0 and i forgot it was 7 sorry.

  • don't mean to bash this video but intel just released a new processor not to long ago called the i7 980x, 6 cores- all at 3.33ghz and with hyper threading= 12 threads!!!

-evga just released the sr-2 that has !!!2!!! LGA 1366 sockets= 24 PROCESSING THREADS!!!!, and support for 48GB of +1333mhz ddr3 ram!! ow and throw in 10 sata III ssd's in raid and your score is through the roof!!!

now on graphic support.... 4-way sli anyone??? maby throw in a physx card??

now, about your mac.. it looks nice

  • 4 cores hyper threaded versus 8 cores? what kind of BS comparison is that?! show the same processor in different operating systems and then compare. and on top of that, maybe throw in a game or two *laugh*

  • My Mac Pro Nahalem quad 2.66 with 3GB RAM scored 8482.

  • i wish i had your accent.

  • yaaaaay mac : )

  • alot more factores go into those test then just the processor.

  • freak

  • Thanks dude

  • Lol, the new iMac's get even higher :p. Around 9600.

  • THIS IS FUCKING FAKE?!!?! 5.9 SCORE AT THE FUCKING SYSTEM RATING?! ON FUCKING CORE I7 920?!!? UR OUT OF UR GODDAMN MIND! core i7 975 extreme deserves 6.0 rating but the 920 sucks BALLZZZZZZZ

  • No shit, the 8 core mac pro has 2 CPUs. Run it against a computer which also has 2 CPU sockets and run it again.

  • An actual honest Mac user.

  • This video is a prime example on how technology evolves.

The performance you can have at your desk today is so many times more than, lets say, 10 years ago.

I run BOINC on my computers, and my new i7 920 (like in the video) has racked up 150.000 credits in about 8 weeks.

My 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo has racked up around 315.000 points in 14 months.

    Big difference.

  • my pc have 7.3 not like your pc i have phenuom II X4 3.7GH with 4GB ram and i have apower full GPU ATI 4870X2...

what is the software do you use to bonchmark?

tell me and i will use it

  • 8-core Mac Pro - WOW! 17932 points!

  • WINDOWS 7 is better........

  • first of all douche, you dont know what youre talking about, so dont try and think you do

second of all, read the first point again

  • 5.9 onlyy my 2 yr old super pc scores 7.9 dude

  • pay attention- 5.9 is the max it can go to, its impossible to go higher without a SSD

  • 5.9 score only? my 3 years old pc also score 5.9 but is runnig 2duo 3ghz.

  • i have an i7 in my hackintosh ^_^

  • 2GB DDR2 6GB DDR3 think..... that is NOT a fair benchmark.

  • Comment removed

  • I get 9100 on my hackintosh :p

  • i get 65xx in my hackintosh.

  • and to the cock biter that made this video, no we cant see the mac specs since you put text on the middle of the screen. Turket raping cunt

  • ohh GOD has the world become so free that good videos stop to exist? sorry buddy but the first person and shoot feels cheap and not reinvented. If you want to post and keep it real please; try to keep a good quality...or it just seems just like a waste of time

  • How could you compare 2 Macs with vista? This hurts a lot....

  • @Xbox360Trailerss

Mac Pros ship with outdated 512MB, underperforming video cards for double the price of a comparable PC, so......Macs are shit.

  • That has got to be one of the most ignorant things ive ever heard.

    1. "PC's" are not old technology. In fact, Apple is still offering low end outdated GPU's in the Mac Pro.

    2. Windows software is not slow and inefficient. Developers who make OSX and Windows versions of their software dont make either one more efficient.

    3. Apple does not make their own hardware. They use the same hardware that every other OEM does.... Intel, nVidia, Samsung, ATI, foxconn, etc.

  • So instead of trying to prove that im wrong, you've completely changed the subject with homosexual insults. You've done a great job at diverting from the subject, and acting like a true Apple drone. Congratulations!

Guess what?? Apple uses Intel processors. The same identical ones used in PC's. I suppose the apple kool-aid has brainwashed you.

  • Comment removed

  • This is a useless argument, Macs are easier to use, more efficient and I bet you have an iPhone or an iPod, so please Mr.Nerd get the fuck off my nuts.

  • Comment removed

  • Uhhhhhhhhh, there are 600 viruses actively attacking the Mac OS platform right now, little boy.

    Or didn't you know that?

And shit hardware? Hmmmmm, like GTX295 cards that Mac only JUST gained support for (and ONLY for the Mac Pro).

Where are the HDMI ports in the new iMac? Ohhhhh, I see. They skimped on an INDUSTRY STANDARD.

I don't think you know what you're talking about, and you've made yourself look COMPLETELY foolish. Congrats!

  • @MaximusCerberus Mac sucks, I've said it once and i'll say it again " Give me a new top of the line PC packed with all the wacky viruses out there over a clean running new mac." I've owned 2 macs and both have gave me hell.

  • theres a point in CPU power where it is simply pointless to get any higher as it would simply get bottlenecked by any other piece of hardware in your system.

That limit is somewhere between a Core 2 Duo 2.6ghz to a Core 2 Quad

The ONLY thing an 8 Core Mac Pro would be good at, for its price, is high end computing, something physicists might do. But, that field is now being over taken by Nvidia and their CUDA drivers where a videocard with some 300+ parallel processors would destroy any CPU.

  • @cr9527

I dont think that is completely true. If you run software that uses almost only CPU and not a lot of RAM or HDD, then nothing will "bottleneck" you except for the software design itself. For example, most software don't utilize more then 2 cores.

  • And which software would that be? Sure you can load office a second faster, but is that worth the money?

Transcoding, and encoding videos are the only everyday tasks that I can think of, but with CUDA becoming more popular, the CPU will simply be a non-factor.

  • @cr9527

Wow. Are you really asking me that?

How about extracting large archived files, converting files formats, editing pictures and videos, watching HD movies, multi tasking, gaming, etc. These are everyday tasks that mostly uses your cpu. Plus if you have a powerful cpu now, you can easily upgrade other components (RAM, GPU, HDD) over the years and still have a good computer. Upgrading your cpu (in most cases) is not recommended.

  • Upgrading CPU is never recommended unless necessary due to other factors such as Mobo. Why? Simply because for most people, anything above a dual/quad core is unnecessary, and GPU is in fact taking the place of CPU in a lot of the tasks that Mac Pro is good at.
