@WeenerMatt Fritz is not trying to be affective. He says it to the client. Rogers will seem more affective because that is the entirety of the theory.
@ThusSpakeDenise you need serious help. Whether you're just joking or your are serious.
@miteaus He would not give her empathy because that's not the style. Rogers did that. She was conditioned by Rogers if you must. I don't think he meant that she was phony as a diagnosis, but rather as a defense mechanism.
Gestalt is the best! A frightened person does not smile. His existential embarrassment diagnosis is straight to the point. Gloria resisted thus sucumbing to self-deception...sometimes the truth hurts
Jews are so full of feces. Perls is a swine cast before a pearl. No one should pay any attention at all to Judaic nonsense, let alone take those games seriously.
1965! he didn't appear to me to have been terribly affective. his provocative style just upset her and seemed to achieve so much less than the Rogers encounter.
i love how she is so able to speak up for herself. this woman knows who she is. he is POINTING at her. ive heard of this therapy style, and it is very effective in the right situation, but i have never heard of him. i think his approach is disgusting. i would have walked out of his room.
It is amazing to see the same patient with two different therapists become two different people. With Rogers, Gloria is relaxed, with no need to smoke, in fact I didn't know she did smoke. She touches on her problems, even past problems, recognizing in herself who she is, what she does and does not like, and what she truly wants. The Gloria with Perls is instantly defensive and spends her whole therapy defending herself, anxious, and smoking. Perls wasted a lot of precious time angering Gloria.

The phony diagnosis was a bit general. She wanted empathy and he just couldn't give it.
