Nice try by the film maker to make it look like World War II propaganda film but they had made a huge gaffe when they showed the American flag in the beginning and the end with 50 stars when it only had 48 in WW II.
Were there planes like the ones buzzing around him at the same time rigid airships were used in the allied military? Blimps were used in the navy. Airships would be prime meat to any WWII fighters. I think Allied rigid airship use was phased out b/4 the Hindenburg, &-though the Nazis were active-I think only European equivelants of flying tigers would have been fully in combat against the Germans of that time.
I think that everyone is missing the point, the film was to show what he could have endured during his fall from the plane. I am a WW2 Buff and found it interesting. I am researching some Victory Glasses from ww2 when I stumbled upon a link about Sgt Alan Magee, which brought me here. Thanks for taking the time to do this project. What an amazing feat to survive. What would you do, say or promise while falling 20,000 feet?
He had several broken bones, severe damage to his nose and eye, and lung and kidney damage, and his right arm was nearly severed. Oh, and he actually fell 22,000 ft. 22,000 ft = 4 miles
The German doctors were phenomenal :they made him fully recover from 28 shrapnel wounds - a punctured lung and kidney - nose and one eye ripped open - right arm nearly severed from his body - a broken right leg and ankle. Two miracles : from God and from enemy doctors!!
well considering that it was a small-ish derigible with the star of the US Army Air Corps on it instead of the swastikas prominently flaunted by the Hindenburg, i think it's safe to say that it was not the Hindenberg. in fact there were many other airships that were not the Hindenburg. most of them, a number probably in the thousands were not the Hindenburg.
this guy is my uncle, (haha but it's funny because my last name really is 'Magee') and i am greatly disappointed that people would abuse youtube in a manner that suggests mockery.
You guys probably aren't going to believe me, but Alan Magee was my great uncle. The story is definitely true, he told me it himself. This depiction isn't really that accurate though, he passed out for most of the fall.

It's fun but a bit retarded... I don't really see where the poignant and deep social commentary on warfare and american politics should be.

I assume you guys are looking for hateful comments? That was the most retarded flick I've ever seen.
