  • Really loving this vid bro.

  • @johnwoog thanks man. appreciate it.

  • @rileypatrickdeacon I'm so close to buying a 600d. It's between that or shelling out for a 60d. You happy with yours?

  • @johnwoog Very happy. If you have the money i'd go for the 60d but if you're on a tight budget the t3i is perfect. 60d has a faster shutter, better color depth and a longer battery life (which would be nice to have with the 600d). It all depends if you're willing to spend the extra cash on a camera that does everything a little bit better.

  • @johnwoog buy the 60D the size of the 600D it feels so bad in the hands

  • did you use 30 or 24fps filming this?

  • @senabrew the slo mo shots of the dogs were 60fps at 720p and everything else was 24fps 1080p.

  • Dramatic Dog gnaws his bone.

  • How do you make you're video look like this??

  • @Filayjay wide aperture, color correction and a widescreen matte box.

  • Evil black eyes!

  • this should be a SCPA advert :)

  • @skysailing100 haha yeah this would be perfect.

  • omg that tree thing is so sick

  • Hi Riley.

I Am About To Purchase A 600D Myself, Primarily For Filming But I Was Wondering About The Battery Life?

Assuming I Only Have The One Battery And One SD Card Around 16GB, How Long Will It Last Recording At Say... 720P?

By the way I only threw in those capitals to pull your leg. I just watched your 'Pet Peeves' video. All of your clips that I flicked through are great.

    Cheers,

    Ryan.

  • @RDiefenbach haha thanks. I've got one battery and one 8gb class 10 memory card just for video and that works fine for me, but if you're going to be shooting any short films for long periods of time i'd invest in a few batteries and memory cards.

  • Great job! I have the canon t3i to.

  • Normal EF 50mm f/1.8?

  • @3GO3US Yessir

  • @rileypatrickdeacon Great! thanks.

  • @dishafreestyle It's all in the tutorial I made, it's a bit lengthy but covers from filming all the way to exporting and what I do along the way.

  • @dishafreestyle It's all in the tutorial I made, it's a bit lengthy but covers from filming all the way to exporting and what I do along the way.

  • When you shoot the video did you use the manual focus of the lens or the AF of the camera?

Love the colors, the slow motion and the music you choose.

    Good job man.

  • @LouTheBlues manual focus. thanks man! if you want more info I just uploaded a tutorial showing everything from filming to exporting so you can check that out if you want.

  • Amazing work, beautiful dogs, nice lens!

  • wow bro how much

  • @rileypatrickdeacon yeah i really like the colour effects you have used.

  • @rileypatrickdeacon yeah, i really like the colour effect you used.

  • @rileypatrickdeacon please do!

  • @rileypatrickdeacon I am buying a Canon EOS 600D (Kiss X5 in my country) in the next few days, I would love to see a tutorial including the lens used if it is possible.

    That video was absolute perfection!

  • @GreenBlobFilm i will! thanks

  • @rileypatrickdeacon amazing video!! :) Want to watch the tutorial too :)))

  • @NekTLT Just uploaded the tutorial, go check it out.

  • dude, those dogs were the star of the show...wow...i felt they were gonna ask me a question. really liked your color correction\alteration on the first part....did you add contrast in the last portion? it didnt seem quite as pleasant....i like increasing my shutterspeed to get the falling snow...awesome vid

  • @jordanwilliam23 i thought I applied the same process to the last clip but I might have missed something. i love snowy environments

  • And now the 'MattHDGamer' Comments role in...

  • Wow!

  • Awesome video, Well done!

  • dat shit was raw! howd u do that shit wit the tree wen u were focusing on 1 branch at a time??

  • @MyRedHeadNigga that's from the lens I was using. it has a wide aperture so the depth of field is more shallow.

  • @MyRedHeadNigga aperture had high (reciprocal) value e.g. f/1.8 (this is basically gives the ratio of wideness of the diaphragm that controls the quantity of light reaching the sensor), so the depth of the field got shallow, and he rotated the focus back and forth to see different parts of the branches sharp at a time.

  • What's the name of the song? =)

  • @Carlit0Tit0 "indus" by taylor hayward. he makes some great royalty-free melodies

  • Precioso! :)

  • beautiful job! Very awesome indeed. Those dogs are great actors as well..

  • @dizzyupthecrew thank you! labradoodles are beautiful

  • The dog at 0:18 was like "No it's not worth it"

  • awesome... i LOVE my Canon T3i & my Canon Nifty Fifty - EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens...

you can do this type of stuff in iMovie too. people don't need to spend $800.00 on a video editing program... it's called letterbox... or you can crop in iMovie to get that letterbox look too...

  • hey there. Really beautiful video.

I have a question tough. i want to buy my first DSLR and i'm oscillating between canon 600D and Nikon D5100. Now the reason i was leaning towards Nikon was because it has auto-focus and that might come in handy someday. But seeing your video...don't now...you used manual focus right? is it difficult to use? or time consuming when you film a moving subject? Please don't laugh

  • @bittersweet1603 that's a good question. For me I probably wouldn't use auto focus even if I had the option because depending on the lens the sound of it focusing can be noisy, and I just prefer to focus myself so I can get the exact look I want. It's not difficult to use manual focus you just have to get used to it. Canon's EOS video system is much better than Nikon's so if you're looking to shoot more video i'd go with the 600D. Thanks!

  • @bittersweet1603 go for canon 7D if u have the budget nikon has a lower contrast with pics and its video isnt all that great!

  • 25 or 50 fps?

  • @Mois23 60 for the slo-mo shots of the dogs and then 24 for the others

  • bravo!!! Very good! Emotions...

  • Great movie! I'm going to buy myself a canon 600D too. I want to make these kind of videos, I'm not experienced however. How long did it take you to get nice videos like this one?

  • @BeatXtreme Not long actually, I've always enjoyed photography which serves as the basis of film, and video is just pictures at 24 fps so my knowledge of editing photos and taking pictures transferred into video perfectly. After you get this camera go take some photography classes and you'll be making videos like this in no time. Thanks!

  • Please can you share the link with the project file plz?

  • @Psipunisher with the premiere pro file?

  • @rileypatrickdeacon ohh damn... :S i use vegas :S

  • Beautiful video.. The music fits perfect! Btw What is the melody/song? :)

  • @Wonderclover "indus" by taylor hayward. downloaded under the creative commons license. he makes some great melodies.

  • its..so..BEAUTIFUL :'(

  • Awesome Cinematic video you have a talent bro :D

  • @Salebarale thanks!

  • Wow, amazing. This is my next camera.

  • Man i have canon 600d but my quality isn t like that i mean when i upload the vid on youtube the viid quality is bad what export settiings did you use what vid format , software pls help if you can :(.Thank you.

  • @Salebarale I use premiere pro, and for export settings I shoot at 1020p and export at 720, max 18 mbps target 14 mbps, 24fps, h.264 codec. i'm pretty sure thats what was used for this video. Let me know if you need anything else, thanks!

  • @rileypatrickdeacon Nothing else, Thank you :D

  • Beautiful

  • Any tips from your experience with color correcting?

And did you put your camera on any specific settings?

  • @jimmyji32 I start off with the basics - crush the blacks and get solid whites, and then go with whatever looks right after that. For me it's trial and error, I have a basic idea of what I want the footage to look like and then experiment with colors and hues after that. Magic bullet looks definitely helps. For my camera I use a picture profile called "cinestyle" (which is free btw) and basically what that does is expand the dynamic range so you have more CC options in post. Thanks!

  • This video is absloutely amazing :) great quality.

  • @HeavenBound107 thank you!

  • awesome dude!..like it...dogs are so cool!

    nice music to :)

    Jacques

  • @jacquesone100 thanks!

  • very nice footage

  • it makes me happy when people know how to use their canon 600D :)

  • @RubTheNipple thank you! might as well use the camera to it's fullest potential.

  • Haha love the beginning where the dogs turn their heads

  • nice tones
