  • Thanks Claire,

I am revisiting your vids as mine have got to harvest time. Got to check what to do. LOL

  • Enjoy the rewards from all your hard work.

  • LOL glad u said something about not eating turnips raw, cuz I would've probably bit right into one as I have never eaten one, hahaha...is it poisonous?? or just tastes bad?

  • They're not poisonous, but they taste much better when they've been cooked.

  • Claire, now that u have shown us how to plant all this, u need to show us how u cook it all up! I have never eaten a turnip or a parsnip..Got any good recipes?

  • When roasting parsnips about 10 minutes before the end of cooking paint on a little honey or maple syrup. Very yummy. May be it's something I'll consider for next year.

  • My leaves got eaten up by something tiny as they have tiny holes all thru them, i went out and bought a roll of fiberglass window screening which looks like plastic and laid it across them, the grasshoppers look sooo disappointed, lol =)

  • I never worry if the leaves get a little nibbled as long as they don't eat the vegetables themselves. That's for me!

  • Claire, are those turnips a sort of radishes?

  • They come from the same family. They are a root veggie, but take longer to grow and you can't eat them raw they are great in stews and soups. They are an autumn veggie where as radish are for salads and are quite spicy. When they are growing their leaves are very similar.
