I have had this pain around my tailbone for a week now. I played basketball a week ago and I started feel pain around my coccyx or sacrum. I don't remember falling down so maybe it was from before that event or sudden movements while playing sports. I am going to rest for a week or so and if there is still pain I will go see a chiropractor.
@TheLiveInfinity Noted. If the pain persists, it is definitely a good idea to get it checked out. If you are looking for a nonsurgical physician, you may want to see if there are a musculoskeletal/sports-medicine PM&R physician in your geographic area (physiatrist = a physician specializing in PM&R: physical medicine and rehabilitation). Wishing you well.
Ok, I am finally getting caught up on answering some of the comments, but for some reason my replies are not pairing up with the comments they are replying to. Oh, well.
Absolutely there are nonsurgical treatments (meds. by mouth, meds. by local injections under fluoroscopy, cushions, avoiding exacerbating factors, etc., etc.). But first an accurate diagnosis would need to be made. Wishing you and your mom all the best.
Noted. It depends on the pain level, etc., and some folks certainly do choose to just live with it if they are fortunate enough to have symptoms that are mild and not impairing quality of life. But it still probably worth getting it checked out to confirm the diagnosis. All the best.
I got an x-ray and there is no damage to the bone, but I am feeling pain in that area and have been for a very long time now... Do you know how long a bruise may stay on the tailbone?
As the my other videos point out, make sure that your doctors confirm that the site on the xrays or MRI actually include the site where you have your pain. It is VERY common that they do NOT include the tailbone (coccyx) at all. Wishing you well.
i have tailbone pain! I have no idea what it is from though. I did not hit it on anything. I stand for long hours every day as a waitress. I am speculating that it could either be from my shoewear, or the way that I stand. It hurts to sit down :( oh, and it's been this way for about a month.
i broke mine, it hurts. I cant get through a movie, getting my hair styled, driving for an hour, waking up in pain. It hurts, I broke it a year ago in JUNE. it still feels like i broke it yesterday. My boss was so incredibly rude about the accident she never offered to have me see a doctor, she ignored the situation completely. she pretended it did'nt happen? she was aware though. It was the most horrific exeperience i went through. No pain meds, i tolerate it, is it treatable?
The pain sounds really bad. It's been a while since you posted this, so hopefully things are doing better. If not, defitely you should seek treatment, since this is clearly compromising your quality of life. All the best.
Omg i am so scared because i broke mine at work. I fell right on the step. I was at the top landed on the bottom. My boss so rude, she never offered me any help. It was a year ago and it still hurt bad. Is it to late to treat it? I mean i can't get trough a movie, getting my hair done, driving for an hour. It hurts to sit. I mean the pain is crazy. I dont take any meds i did not see a doctor. I was embarrassed about the whole situation because my Boss acted like it never happend?
Thank you for posting this video. I am in excruciating pain. It just started suddenly and grew worse. I just had an XRAY and was advised I have DDD (Degenerative Disc Decease) which I suppose could have contributed to this pain. It's like a toothache that won't go away.

My mom has this. Any treatments, besides surgery?

PLISKEN12: ask your doctor whether you have a pilonidal cyst.

How to tell if you have pelvis pain?, don't you mean fractured/broken pelvis, but either than that i broke my coccyx
zupanata 2 years ago
zupanata: the coccyx is part of the pelvis, so some pelvic fractures involve the coccyx but many do not. All the best.

Not everyone has a history of trauma. If it persists, get it checked out. Wishing you well.

when you have tailbone pain, it's hard to run right? You can only walk slowly, right? How can you make the pain go away?
foreboy7 2 years ago
For many patients, running/walking are not nearly as problematic as sitting, but there are always exceptions.
