I was sad to hear that one of the Captains died. It was Captain Harris and I don't remember the name of his ship. Was it cornelis marie or something,..damn I hate growing old and not remembering things. In any case may God bless and keep the good Captain in paradise.
Very interesting! I cooked on the king crab boats back in 1978 thru 1980 until I broke my leg in town during the king crab season and had to get off the boat. I use to know who all these guys are but that was a long time ago. Thanks for the video!
And women! I am female and use to work on the crab boats here but I was the cook. I would sort crab and fill bait jugs and I even learned how to coil the line and throw the hook but the heavy work of moving those 7X 1,000 pound pots around the deck and getting up on the stack of pots to tie them secure I left to the men because that is a very hard job and really a man's job-it is very dangerous! Well said by you-crab fishermen are real men (or they don't last long at the job!)
Hi, I've also worked on Crab Boats in Alaska at the same time that you did 1978/1980 , we were based in Cold Bay, I started on the Factory Ship then I finally managed to go on the Crab Boats, put some money aside then went to the Big Island of Hawaii to rest, spended all the money then joined the French Foreign Legion, now I'm retired and live in the North of France, cheers to you.
these white fisherman attacked unarmed fishermen in the open seas that didn't belong to them, simply because they aren't white. even now the alaskan fishing industry is barred to whites only, 100% of ownership and 99% of workers are white.
nocorporateamerica just what reference do you cite for your statistics? I would like to know how the fishing industry keeps nonwhites from fishing on the high seas. The licenses are handed out by the government and inspected by the Coast Guard so how are the nonwhites kept out? Please give me real facts to support your contentions.
My opinion is that these fishermen are hard working people. The difficulty of fishing in those rough cold waters is stunning. This occupation appears to be very dangerous. If you don't agree with that then it is you who is in denial.
For these rogue alpha males to be roaming international waters with a canon and terrorizing other "hard working people" who actually work harder because they had to travel further is a crime.
The red necks are just lucky its the Japanese, had it been European or Middle Eastern fishing boats, they would have brought guns and canons also.
I personally would have no problem taking down these fishing boats with canons on them.
Hey calm down girl. There are no red necks fishing the waters off Alaska. Red necks are from the southern United States. Alaska is the northern most part of the USA. I have serious doubt that you would survive in waters off the coast of Alaska. Ha, ha you're such a fag.
If you must know, a lot of the fishermen here are from Norway. There are people fishing on these boats from everywhere. I don't know what you are really saying because it is so diverse here that I am a minority here and I am white-born and raise in America!
I live here and you don't know what you are talking about! Yea-the guys on the Deadliest Catch are white but that is only the show-this is a very diverse community and a very diverse fishing business!
I've been a crabber for 13+yrs, I have broke my hand,4 ribs, foot, fractured my hip, tibia, and and my wrist, I have a scar form being stabbed by a wire hanging on the pot in my stomach, scars from numerous other things, This job is Dangerous, but mostly mentally stressful for the green hands! It will break a grown man down as soon as 1 day. I have see men cry to get off the boat! these videos aren't bad..But when the weather turns, and gets stormy, people Die, but you still work through that!
everything is bigger in America, and then even bigger in Alaska

For one, due dilligence is a good thing, meaning, you should google questions you have.
its all there, including the historical event of the white fisherman against the "invading fisherman" despite it was international waters.
nocorporateamerica 3 years ago
Just as I thought. You have no clue.

I am sure Charide, you don't want the world you have set up in your mind disturbed.
Sorry to have sprinkled reality in your norman rockwell little world.
Watch some hollywood hype and feel better.
Or better yet, Bill Oreilly will be on tonight.
