Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was and is still my favorite Harry Potter Book.... but the movie is a big pile of EPIC FAIL. I will most definitely buy the DVD when it comes out in December but I'm still disappointed about how they butchered my favorite book.
horcruxes and btw when snape did the Avada Kedavra the flash was green not blue i went to see the movie all over again just to check that it was green they wouldn't let such an important detail out,and about the quidditch match in all the harry potter movies they only put in one quidditch match it must be difficult to film, and when Harry does the sectumsepra in the book snape was furious and asks Harry to bring his school books in the movie he didn't say a thing
The movie would be incredibly long if they added all of the details but i have to admit about the burrow being attacked they should've taken out that scene and added some parts from the gaunt'sif you notice in slughorn's memory tom riddle is like playing with marvolo gaunt's ring and it said so in the book but they should've said more about it since it was one of the
True, but when you think about it, The longer the hours, the less the views, the less the money made, thus the less the movies are made quality-wise. you really have to be in a director's shoes for this, but also be objective when criticising, I admit the film could have been better, but it could have been waaaaaaaaay worse.
Yep, scrimgeour, the gaunt memories, battle at hogwarts, dursleys ect all announced ages ago. The first screen test was in Chicago in September last year and since then we've known all about these changes. Don't judge the movies as translation of the books, rather as interpretations. Why does the stone in the cave NEED to be black? Wasn't the attack on the Millenium bridge much better cinematically than the Prime Ministers talking about an attack on the Brocksdale bridge.
cont/d..The movies are SEPERATE entities to the book. You need to understand that before reviewing a movie like this. You only judged it as a movie from 9:19 to 9:37. Sorry if its seems like i'm attacking you. I'm not! lol. I'm only saying book purists can never hope to enjoy these movies for what they are.
I don't know why people expect them to perfectly translate the books into movies. Yes, they needed more memories and they needed to have the battle, but sitting here bitching about the scenery and setting is stupid. Have you not noticed throughout the WHOLE movie series that Harry's eyes are BLUE? That Dumbledore has a short beard, that he doesn't dress nearly as flamboyantly or act nearly as kooky?
good review...yeah, i was like bracing myself for the big battle finale, and poof! its the end already!...i like the quidditch match though, looked way better, at least more screen time than previous movies...re: the burrow attack, i was thinkin they were setting it up for DH, coz now Mrs Wealey could have braggin rights to kill Bellatrix, coz she totally stole Neville's thunder when he didnt get his revenge...she could totally say now to Bellatrix: "this is for burning my house: die B*TCH!!!!"
What I was most pissed off about? THE MEMORIES. It almost seemed as if the whole Horcrux storyline actually took a BACK SEAT to the romantic comedy side of things. Establishing the idea of the Horcruxes is essentially the PURPOSE of HBP. Without this the whole storyline of DH will be lost. No wonder they need to make 2 movies if they have to catch up on all the crap they didn't cover in this one.
I think the cinematography was great and the acting was better than ever, but it just missed the point of the plot so completely for me.
They changed so many stupid small things that just left me thinking "dude, wtf." As you mentioned, the island. There is NO real reason that couldn't have been as it was described as the book. The avada kedavra spell. Slughorn - ever heard of a fat suit and fake moustache? The randomly added scenes that served no purpose in furthering the plot.
Wow, I completely agree with all of this. You have honestly summed up my feelings coming out of the movie almost exactly.
At first I thought myself and my friends were the only people who were disappointed with it - it turns out a lot of people actually are. As much as I'd like to love this film, as it was probably my favourite (or at least close second-favourite) book, I just can't.
i just got back from the premier in pekin and after looking back there were wayyyyy too many parts left out, but in my opinon it was a fairly good film. i just wish they would have had all of the good parts that were left out from the book.
What is your lip tattoo? I totally forgot about about the muggle prime minister! totally didn't notice the blue light, lol. Now that you mention it, I'm upset that the Gaunts weren't mentioned, either. And mad about the horcruxes, too! I'm pissed about the funeral, too, but I think they kinda "replaced" it with everyone raising their wands. I agree with most of what you say. I never thought Emma Watson was a good actress, and I didn't like Bonnie Wright's performance in this film.
I love you.

Also, with all your expectations the film would have been five fucking hours long.

Which would have been awesome.

They didn't include the battle because of repetition with the final film.

In touch with Harry Potter news? All of these changes were announced about a year ago. :S

I mean come on, there are far more important faults in all of the movies that should be discussed than the silver Felix Felicis.

Now there WERE some funny moments, but if I had to choose between these and the plot, I definitely choose plot.
(Apologies for 3 comments, I got slightly carried away, had a lot to say and unfortunately youtube has a character limit, lol.) Nice tattoos btw!
