Little known fact, Austria had an opportunity to have Prussia on their side. After Frederick the Great invaded Silesia he offered to defend Maria Theressa's throne if she would cede Silesia to Prussia, he even scaled it back to just part of Silesia. But Maria Theresa didn't want to give an inch. Funny if you look at a map Silesia is in Poland today.
