This kid so deserves this. I saw him "lose" a competition held at a small music school in a rural town, in his home country Sweden, against a local musician that no one has heard of since. He was remarkable then, when he came second, and just as he is now when he receives the prestigious GFA first prize. I'm sure that also the runner up in GFA 2010 has a splendid career ahead of her/him.
This is really beautiful! While he' s playing, he is a whole different human being! It is unexplainable. And guys, sorry to bother, but, do you know what guitar is he playing?
@Th0masWarner ¿Did you know that you sound like a marshmallow trying to talk about music? So let me explain to you Bach changed the world using more than 4 chords, and others like Schoenberg changed the world using atonal harmonies, so maybe your poor intellectual capacity doesnt let you apreciate music with more than 4 chords...
Absolutely brilliant technique and a very emotional performance. This is more for people who know what they are listening to rather to than the plank spankers. I have seen Johannes live and his repertoire includes a wide ranging choice of traditional pieces as well as contemporary pieces like this one. He deserves the prize.
@youknowImsaying Erm, stfu mate. You want him to play Cavatina or some shit. Learn something about guitar technique before posting such a fucking stupid comment... dick
@maxsteinhoff six weeks is a lot for someone with that talent, and time to study 6 or more hours everyday without having to worry about anything else on the planet.
I would never enter a competition if I had to play a modern piece like this.
Personally this piece does nothing for me. Not to take away from the work gone into writing it. In the hands of a lessor player, it would be horrible. At least Moller has the technique to pull it off. I prefer Roland Dyens for modern compositions.
This is what I call an true artist ! His compositions give me hope for the classical guitar - they very well could elevate it to an even wider musical audience . I think if more people could hear Johannes´ ¨ whispered by the wind¨ so much guitar activity would be limited to the too often sterile academic environs. And aside from Johannes´ gift and contribution to the instrument , he is an incredibly wonderful human being too! Go on brother !
Do you have the video of Johannes playing the Reverie at GFA 2010? I would love to hear that performance again. Thanks for all the videos and looking forward for more!
His right hand technique needs more control, though.

This is sound quality: when you can hear the sound of the sleeves agains the guitar as he plays as well as his breathing.

Great piece. I just wish he didn't play ponticello throughout most of it. To each their own I guess. Regardless, he's a fantastic guitarist.

for me, this is an awesome composition. I would learn it if i could find the music for it

Extremely impressive, especially when one considers the fact that he only had six weeks to learn it.

@Boldstrummer It's probably the most modern piece of music ever written.

Another modern composition that sucks to listen to. The player, fantastic.

what is that on his lap by the guitar?
BOGZASV8MA 1 year ago
@BOGZASV8MA It is a cushion that replaces the foot stool. There is also the Efel support that replaces the foot stool.

Interesting, he's using a cusion on the left leg, yet still looks like that leg is raised a bit. Wonderful playing.
