  • Ok didn't beleave hho was forreal so I did a test in a glass jar no bubbler and a lighter to the exhaust hose and a 1" by 1" air gap made that jar look like a glass frag grenade no one was hurt but opened up my eyes saftey first

  • Forget HHO, go with a seperator cell. It wouldn't have been so volitile if it exploded.

  • Next time tell your wife man geez you coulda killed her

  • jajajajaja. thats why I dont like to have those switches. Its better to hook it ut to a key switch.

  • What did the police say? What fuel savings were you getting from this setup? Ive got mine hooked up through a relay activated by the the oil pressure light on the dash. Power comes to the relay's normally closed contacts from the ignition switch. The coil of the relay is across the oil pressure light wires. With this when the ignition is off there is no power. If the ignition is on and the engine is not running the oil pressure light is on and the coil is energised, so cell is off.

  • nothing. just responding to call. this one was hoked up to oil pressure switch also. I just had a bypass to check water levels. daughter turned on bypass. needless to say bypass was disconnected :)... as far as savings i only ran it for 2000 miles before taking rig off the road. it averaged 18 mpg from LA to phx with it off and 20 from phx to LA. So no concrete numbers. Havnt run hho in a while. Working too much trying to catch up on bills.

  • Sorry but, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, God damn my sides hurt! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • how about to mount second alternator just to porew fuel cell?

  • Its sad that people are programmed to call the police instead of helping out.

  • can you just hook up to the positive and negative leads on your cell to tha alternator?....

  • Good concept but no it wouldn't work to hook it up to the alternator. Alternators charge wires are always hooked up to the battery directly ( through a fuse or fusible link) 99% of vehicles are wired directly to the bat.

The field wire is turned on or off via ignition but the cell will still get power with key off.

The only way I can think of for the alternator set up is a separate alternator with a self-exciting field ( no battery needed to make alternator work) Thanks

  • THANK YOU for showin us... Poor little air box! Id say you got lucky, caused a rukus though! Just gettin started and glad I came across this.

  • You are welcome. Thats the whole point of the video. Learn from my mistake. This stuff can be flat dangerous and is less forgiving than most combustible gas.

    Have fun and be carefull.

  • We need the old Hobbs 4070-2 vacuum switch (hard to find). There is a seller on ebay. It closes down HHO production when engine vacuum shuts down. It is a worrisome thing to have it on the ignition etc. Thanks guys for all the good posts.

  • look into the idea of the vacuum switch that is used for the four wheel drive indicator light used in jeeps. You could get them at the salvage yards cheap. maybe a buck a piece.

  • I'll look into these 4x4 indicator light switches..maybe we have something going here.

Peope with HHO need a better way to control shut down of production when engine is not running.

thanks for your heads up suggestion.

  • So have you Abandoned us ???

  • No, Just been busy and camera broke. Havnt bought anew one yet. Will be back soon.

  • When are you going to do the spark arester again ???/

  • You mean having every car's exhaust output being cleaner than the air intake is a "minimal return on investment". I see this as cars completely cleaning up our polluted planet's air and that is not only ironic but a GREAT return with a minimal investment and Rob is actively reducing the risks involved, day by day. Give him a break !!!

    Blessings, George

  • Thank you for being honest and caring enough to admit this mistake. Hopefully others will learn from it. While you're at it - thank God that your fuel line wasn't ruptured / ignited with the explosion...

Keep your test rig to yourself or defeat it's operation altogether after each time you park it..

That said - I'm not a huge fan of the HHO because of minimal return on investment and increased risk. Take care and thanks again.

  • Rob, George Wiseman gave me some good advice. I obtained a Hobbs 4070-2 vacuum switch (hard to find) and attached my relay ground to it. It turns the HHO cell on at engine start and shuts it off with engine stop. It is safe.

  • I steel say we need presher in order to control the accerlation problem, and we can control the amount we put under psi. to where it is not as dangers.Plus put a schatter shild around it to stop any dinamic event :-)

  • I meant a "valve" not "value". Also, you may need more than one valve in order to match the HHO gas volume that's being produced.

Please don't let this set back get you down. We need your expertise, skills, test tools, and experience to finish this. Together we'll all be able to contribute and work through what little more that there is yet to be done. You're the best out there to make this new HHO technology break through to be safe and reliable.

    Thanks, George

  • Insert a continuious HHO bleed value, on top of the air intake, since HHO gas is lighter than air. Use a very short piece of see through braided vinyl tubing with a matching SS I.D. ball bearing and a spring. Drill small holes into the tubing just below where the ball bearing rests on top of the spring. Plug the top of the tubing. Now start the engine and watch the movement of the spring & ball bearing @ high RPM's. Adjust spring or cut it until ball bearing drops & closes up the drilled holes.

  • Good thing nobody was hurt bro!

Something similar happened to me the other night while doing my experiment with the PP resin beads. I was so concerned about keeping the resin out of the exhaust from the bubbler I neglected to worry about the beads going out from the cell to the one way valve. I caught it just as my top of the cell blew off but imagine 1.6lpm in an enclosed room for hours and accidentally igniting.

Safety is key. I upped a vid to this one of the power of HHO inna 2 l bottle.

  • YOU KNOW: we can put a shrapnal cover over or around the cell, to contane the dienamics of the cell. We can control the exploshion to a degree that it is not dangerous. So good luck and do not stop yet, for we are not done untel we have our car's runing 100% on hho :-)

  • I guess I didnt specify it in the video. The cell has 0 damage. The flashback device protected the cell like it was designed to. The trucks air intake took all the damage. So a shrapnel device on the cell is not necessary. One on the intake may be in order though. just another added safety to the system.

Thanks for the comment it has made me look to an overlooked safety device.

  • can I email you for some info on hooking up my cell safely? I have a new diamond cell coming.

    thanks

  • On 2nd thought, regarding my previous post, it may be easier just to put time delays on the HHO cell, MAF, fuel pump, and spark plug coil. This would effectively purge the entire system at every engine start up time. However, some sort of temporary exhaust bypass would be needed to avoid a possibly still hot Cat. Converter explosion.

Another guy left his on and after a movie and evening out then he blew his entire intake manifold to shreads, etc. Cost about a grand.

    Expensive night out.

  • *chuckling* You are making it difficult for me to convince my wife into letting me install a cell on the family ride. :)

Sorry to hear about the explosion. Some of the courses of the 'school of hard knocks' can be a little tough. Hopefully you don't need to take that class over again.

You are right, this HHO stuff 'can be' very dangerous if you are not very careful or forget to plan for every possible contingency with your install.

  • If the HHO cell loop is detected as closed or a bubbler sensor detects pressure within the top bubbler area, then a new MAF loop relay & a new spark plug coil loop relay will keep both circuts open when the ignition is turned on. Then pop the hood & toggle the HHO cell to off, take the air filter out, pull the ignition coil & MAF fuses. Then crank the engine to clear the intake manifold.

Hot cells make some HHO even if the engine is off so use a bubbler pressure relief valve.

    Blessings, George

  • That hho is some powerful stuff.Just be glad it wasnt worse. But when all said done ,its no more dangerous than riding around with 10 or more gallons of gas in a tank.Just gotta have all safety stuff thats all..And yes people are stupid for making generators with mason jars..

  • actually in my opinion its safer. if this were gas explosion blazer would have burned to ground. i have seen this on this style motor when plastic injector line ruptures. explosion followed by fire.

  • Rob, Thanks for posting this video. It is thru goof ups like this that might save someone's life. It is just important to show the failures as it is the successes.

    Thanks and God Bless, Rob.

  • That was exactly the point. Always think ahead and never get comfortable with this stuff. I have a good carpenter friend of mine that just cut his thumb off, hes been doing it for 30 years professionally. His reason was " I just got too comfortable with the equiptment, therfore loosing my respect for powertools and I cut my thumb off"

  • WOW sorry to hear about this! glad all are ok! you probably have a few angels who are looking for their ear drums.LOL! my wifes truck does not have a hho cell on it just because i know my wife!!!!! scott

  • lol

  • Glad everyone was okay. I like the toggle switch under the hood. Somewhere the wife will never be. :)

  • Well, I Have to think about under hood still. I am working on some more safetys that will not allow power to go to starter or maf in case the cell is powered up.

  • wire it to your ignition. the ON position not the ACC position.

  • It will still happen. Safest way is trough fuel pump. I was stupid and had it on a bypass. no more bypass for me. if i want to run cell with vehicle off i will have to manually overide it with a jumper wire.

  • oops!!! I'm forgeting my english manners "sorry" glad you and your better half are O.K.(Wife) I was to busy try to get a point across to all. education about this stuff is paramount. Once again ***** stars from me.

  • a voice over would probly save that footage Rob

  • Thanks for the video. I have mine wired to fuel pump only. It's just that I have not thought to have a bypass for my own tests. If I did, I'm sure I would do something stupid. So I am going to learn from this , just to leave my rig as is. Thanks Rob

  • This is a good idea. I am working on even more safety ideas now. Its funny how even on an installers truck any thing can and will go wrong. I am glad someone learned from my stupidity.

    Rob

  • the important thing is the wife is ok and a lesson for all of us to learn to take extra safety measures when hooking up hho to our cars .

    thanks for a great post

  • Yea, there was no one hurt but it sure scared the hell out of wife, kids, and bystanders. I can only imagine how loud it was. There was a minimum of 20 liters of gas in the intake. But again no mattter how experienced you are always put the extra safety in. It only takes one person or mistake to do alot of damage. Handle with care

  • A very good video with an important lesson for all. I appreciate the warning (I have a toggle switch in my cab too = not good).

Good to hear your wife is okay. God bless & be safe (know you will).

    ;)

  • cont:-

if people are to sell these cells to the public, first the seller should be responsible for educating the buyer in the correct use and dangers of the gas produced. I hope you will look at this comment as constructive criticism. Very educational to the idiots still building cells in glass jars and a like. To conclude bubblers should not be made of glass or plastics regardless of small safty features like plastic blow off valves. Great Post.

    Kind regards from The U.K.

  • Thanks for postingPeople play with this stuff and do not realise the energy force released in a small space. This gas does not need air to go bang. I still see people building cells in glass jars with electrical connections in gas pockets, this practice is bordering total insanity I build cells for my own use and do not sell to the public. you hint the nail on the head, You did not educate your wife correctly about the dangers of the gas. How many more wifes have cells in there cars. continue

  • That would have been funny, except the last part of the video. I seen videos from other where the intake went bye bye. I hope there no issues to deal with. And there goes that communication thing again :P In a few weeks it will be real funny. Note to self......

  • Well thankfully I disconnected maf sensor and drove it home. So mostly plastic intake tube parts took the hit. As some of you know the upper intake on these vortecs is plastic, so I was very fortunate. Lesson learned. Even on my own rig i will do thins differently so other drivers cant hurt mt truck!!!!!!
