  • I listened to this song when I was down and living at home when my parents were fighting, and it was so comforting! Thanks for the memories!

  • love my number here , peace!

  • days when people actually played their instruments with out electronic alterations.

  • 24 stupid idiots

  • it's so fun to see these videos...just like being a time traveler..like the name of their cd set.i missed a lot when I was 12 too young to go to the isle of wight...justin put his all into that song..beautiful job justin...on all the songs...after nights.i wanted silence for 5 minutes...

  • Very Best Classic.

  • GOOD GOD HE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HANDSOME.

  • @xxxMarzikinnsxxx

    And so talented!

His wife Marie is the luckiest woman in the world!

He still looks great at 65!

  • ...From The Beginning...His Beauty...And Passion...Of Heart....Shines Through...Even Now ...From ...The Heart... Truth ...And Love ...Passion....Endure....

  • simply great !!

  • well, she says she ll take care of him at 64 and older...i guess she knows he s turned 65.

...and yes, he s still got it. Beautifully aging charming talented lad...cutest grandpa of rock n'roll history! ever!

    :-))

  • This song reminds me of Enya's I DREAMED THAT I DWELT IN MARBLE HALLS

So similar, but from a woman's point of view. Check it out...........

  • :))

  • 0:00 Never reaching the end...

  • @nabbl2006

A really great song! I love how effortlessly Justin sings this song and all they've done too. He has a range from high to low, which is beautiful on both ends. In my mind, he's a great singer. Too bad he and the MB's aren't recognized by induction into the rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland or New York. (like the one in Cleveland better) Lamar

  • @emeraldfrog1 you got that right sir. That MB is not yet inducted into the RR HOF is a sin of great proportions. Time to get a youtube outrage thing going. Or at least serious dislike LOL.

  • Hi there Moodies fan! Check the flute on Knights in White Satin on my channel.

    Have a great day!

  • beautiful.

  • Ah, my favourite Moody Blues song. I just wish I had seen them when Justin was this cute!

  • @moodybluepassions totally agree. I was around when they were touring Europe in the 60-ties and 70-ties and I enjoy this music till today even after 40 years.

  • ................que de beaux souvenirs sur cette chanson ....magnifique ..ma jeunesse mm avec mes 11 ans .......

  • Wow, Justin Hayward was so handsome in his 20s! :)

  • @janelf5

    He still is!

  • He has a good makeup doesn't look like makeup :).Classic and unforgottable song !

  • Your still playing this god damn awful tune go and get some musical taste

    TAG: Pippa Flux

  • Mum get over your addiction of JUSTIN HAYWARD and listen to some different tunes!

  • So totally brilliant.

  • So brilliant.

  • Otra para la colección!!

  • sigh...if your ever alone in the future...i would take care of you ...bring you your tea,,,even when your 64 and older..now that's true love...all your fans will be happy i was around to cater to you jusin...and john..we all love you so much...

  • @robertahartley1 Did you know he is 65? LOL Still looks great though. My husband and I never miss their concerts when they are in Southern California!!

  • they say he wrote this ongabout white satin sheets and love in transiion..sorry I fid that so hard to believe...i feel that justin doesn't even know how deep this song goes...he said once that he wasn't sure at times why he wrote what he did...

  • i just love this song,it's like he sings from the soul..about a past life...i wish I had been old enough to go to the festival..i was only 10 years old...they have always ben my favorite band...i fell in love with this song when I was 12...i always thought it was about a knight...wearing satin...wanting to marry a woman he was not "alowed" to even though she loved him forever and ever...

  • I love his Guitar Chord.

  • THIS SONG IS AS GOOD AS 3 DOG NIGHT IN WHITE SATIN (HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TOO SPAIN--LOL

  • @rollingstopp This song was wayy before that , and still the best =) 3 Dog Night was incredible in their own way but self destructed . How many bands have a career spanning over 40 years ?

  • yes they say this song is really about nights in white satin sheets with a first girl "friend"...or future wife..i think it goes a lot deeper than that and that is my singular opinion...i think its about memories of a past life and true love that was never allowed to be completed and their hearts ache for each other still...

  • this is why i love samples, helps you discover gems like this

  • es muy linda esta cancion y que mas decir que te amo si, te amo...

  • This song was my favorite in 1972; if I'd heard this particular performance of it I'd have loved it even more...

  • この歌は彼等の不朽の傑作!若かりし頃のジャスティン・ヘイワードの☆の王子様のようなクールなイケ面と赤のセミアコ抱え繊細で切ない歌声とメロディー,陶然とします。upされた方に感謝♪

  • 1970. This is the year that I first saw them live in Houston. I was hooked. The rest of the band is great but it's Justin's voice, lyrics, and guitar that make them great. So many think that they are corny. Fools. Saw them 20 years ago with the Houston Symphony behind them. Wow. This is one of the greatest love songs ever written, so simple yet so profound.

  • listen to visions of paradise the actor also..its such a love song lullaby...i listen to it every night before falling asleep...

  • do you all think the ring justin wears on his right middle finger for safety could be the ring that was meant fo him from his past life that was never allowed?

  • listen to question,(knights) in white satin, tuesday afternoon, gypsey, voices in the sky, what am i doing here, king and queen..his best songs are sung from his soul...like a story fromthe past about a marriage that was not allowed to be...so the sad handsome young knight returned to his homeland alone...(john may have been a knight also and his best man...)

  • this is another song about a past life memory of love found, love lost...about his wedding that was never allowed to be...that is why the 2 knights were dressed in white satin, and never reached the end...her father would not let her leave her castle and village by the sea,he missed her beauty because she was younger than him...he didnt notice her for years...i wonder if justin knows at least 5 of his songs tell his story...look at his face at the end of the song...its his soul singing...

  • this is another song about a past life memory of love found, love lost...about his wedding that was never allowed to be...that is why the 2 knights were dressed in white satin, and never reached the end...her father would not let her leave her castle and village by the sea,he missed her beauty because she was younger than him...he didnt notice her for years...i wonder if justis knows at least 5 of his songs tell his story...look at his face at the end of the song...its his soul singing...

  • @robertahartley1 The song is "Nights in white satin"..not Knights...Justin's friend had given him some white satin sheets as a gift..That first line is about lying awake in bed at night. Justin has stated this many times in interviews. Your interpretation is very nice though..just not accurate :)

  • I always thought it was "knights". which is probably more romantic. (but kinda sissy for warriors to wear such a material) lol

    anyway, great song!

  • I have to agree with MsThebeMoon. I two took my Mother to the Moodies along with my youngest daughter and enjoyed both the concert and the reactions from both. Before the night was over had to put my daughter on my shoulders so she could rock out

  • centuries later...fair gwendolyn and her knight still remember the love they had for each other...if they ever meet, and can be with him,she will love him,go anywhere with him,and take care of hi until the end...LOVE ENDURES...

  • the story-the handsome young man rode for 5 days with his best friend dressed in white satin for his marriage vowels with fair gwendolyn?...she wanted to leave the castle by the sea to go with him to his homeland but her father would not give his consent...in this lifetime the young knight married young and his true love married late and had a crown of gold placed on her head...when she looked over at her prince...it was not her true love and she was sad for 20 years until he set her free...

  • @robertahartley1 Ah yes, the 'marriage vowels' of which you speak... I.. U.... and sometimes Why?!!

  • i heard this song when i was 12...i thought it was about my reacurring dream about a handsome older knight wearing a satin shirt riding a white horse by the rocky sea.the princess fom the castle on the hill watched him every day ride into the village.he never noticed her until she was older and smiled at him on her rock,he wrote her a letter but never sent it beause of her overbeaing nobleman father, they wanted to marry, but she never got his blue diamond ring maybe the soulmates will meet soon.

  • Snore.

  • I was born in 1931 and If I had to choose only one group to listen to it would be the Moodies!

  • I love their music! and doesn't matter my age or the age of they all and you all. Good Music is timeless.

  • Saw them live in Brighton last September, still magical xx

  • Born '66 and this is in all the years one of my favourite song.

    Thanks for the video.

  • i seen these guys twice when they came to the woodlands in 2008 and 2011

  • Timeless, absolutely timeless!!!!!!!!!!!! Oldies and goldies! ♥♫♥♫♥♫

  • I love this song, and I'm so glad that somebody thought to videotape this incredible performance of the MD back in the day...these stupid, pointless comments about how that guitar sounded out of tune misses the whole point. This wasn't intended to be a perfected studio recording... just a great rock moment caught on film, appreciate it for what it is...jeeze!

  • A great rock group back in the day when rock music ruled!

  • great art reaches across all generations. I loved this when I was 13 and love it now at 50

  • @krh104 No, I never heard that song. But I'm a Styx fan so, I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

  • One of the best features of this song is its minimal approach to instrumentation. Today so much is over-produced. This is real and human performance, with all its inherent imperfections. This is truly art. I put this song way up there along with Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms" (my favorite of that is the live performance from their "Into the Night" concert.

  • @79hyperwave this is one of the songs that have a message and that you only listen to the tune shows, that you did not get that

  • @1shin123 The message isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about how their instruments are out of tune rendering the music unlistenabiblbal.

  • @79hyperwave So Ray fluffs the flute solo a bit at the end of it; what you hear as out of tune is probably the kinda funky sound of the mellotron.Justin is not singing flat, just kinda jazzy in places. He has one of the greatest voices ever in Rock; have a listen to his performance - solo- in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of the song "Question". The man is a master. They are at an outdoor festival in the days before autotune or good monitors. And he wrote this song at age 19. What've you done?

  • @lynnsaoirse What have I done? You're saying either I have to be a rockstar by the age of 19 to point out that all the instruments are completely out of tune and his voice is flat? How can you listen to this stuff? You must be tone deaf.

  • @79hyperwave Sorry clown, but I am a professional harpist so I tune the equivalent of two string quartets plus a guitar every time I sit down to play; have played with some quite famous people so am not talking nonsense here. I can listen to other genres and hear the bones of a good performance however. I cannot listen to autotune without going mad however, so no Lady Gag Her or most of the top 40 for me. I work with operatic sopranos regularly and certainly know a flat singer from a great one.

  • @lynnsaoirse Well there Mr. "professional harpist," I had 6 years of private piano lessons, I play the guitar as well, and furthermore, have perfect and relative pitch. Don't patronize me. I do not listen to Lady Gaga or any pop music for that matter. I'm not a clown. If you don't have enough of a trained ear to hear that the instruments are out of tune, and that his voice is flat, you're either a moron claiming to be of the Juilliard crowd (a liar), or a just a fuckwit who is.

  • @79hyperwavePlease just go away if you don't like it. I've worked in the music business for 25 years. In the studio people look to me to see if things are in tune. This is obviously not a studio situation, but an outdoor concert; there's a few bum notes&they were also trying to do a jazz/rock thing, plus the organ/mellotron always was a bit wavery on pitch, but that was their sound& it is quite true to the original. I will stand over Justin having one of the best voices in rock. Also,am not a Mr!

  • @lynnsaoirse Okay there, MISS, all I said was it was so out of tune it was unlistenable. I actually LIKE some of the Moody Blues, and I respect them as musicians. BUT- his voice is FLAT. And the instruments are OUT OF TUNE. It is you who come in on your high horse and call me a clown, assuming I don't know anything about music, do not have a trained ear, am a Lada Gaga listener or whatever, and then ask me to leave? You're a snob.

  • I have asked the question, how many? It was set by, the then, British Rail Figures and Ferry Tickets. Allowing for the seasonal visitors, the estimate is still above 600,000. When you think of the Artists who agreed to perform there, from America and the UK, the type of diversity, then no wonder, at the peak, the Gunness Book of Records set's the attendance of up to 800,000!

  • was this festival as big as Woodstock? Seems like it cause of the many people you see in tis vid...

  • muy buena rola me encanta :)

  • omg... this was the true definition of symphonyc rock... really they was genius, and unfortunately, I can't see this in a 95% of the modern bands, I can't see passion and love for the art of the music... I only see passion for money...

  • I am a huge Queen fan, I love Freddy Mercury. I love their music, I love his voice. But, whenever anyone asks me what my favorite song is, I say Nights in White Satin. No other song I have ever heard, can compare to how hauntingly beautiful this song is!

  • @moonriser1 Beautiful song, have you listened to "Suite Madame Blue" by Styx (Dennis Deyoung)? It knocks me off my feet everytime I hear it.

  • Great channel , a lot of memories , thanks for sharing , greetings from France

  • My mother born 1925, my son born 1981, and me born 1959 ... all love the Moodies. This was my mom's favorite all time song. My son took her to a Moody Blues concert in 2000. Her only rock concert she went to and loved it. True legends that span generations.

  • @MsThebeMoon - Bless her. That's so heartwarming :0)

  • omg do not mention todays pop bullshit in 60s-70s videos cuz believe it or not ur actually promoting them....

  • where are those psychodelic choirs?

  • What I wouldn't give for a time machine :(

  • Studio Album-Great! Live Performance-Even Better Than Great!

  • They were spooky and it was beautiful.

  • ah,classic:)

  • One of the most beautiful song of the planet, along with LIGHT MY WAY HOME, the Bangles, and ALONG THE SEA, Ofra Haza..

This song is far out of the ordinary - transcending reality - very beautiful.

    ed

  • @wonderfulvoices have to throw the sound of silence in there!

  • Ah, the mighty mellotron! One of the absolute best songs of all time.

  • ΚΑΛΟ ΒΊΝΤΕΟ ΜΑ ΔΕΝ ΕΧΕΙ ΚΑΛΟ ΗΧΏ

  • nice song!!!!

  • I'll also include "The Who" to make it an even dozen. Can you name twelve current bands that come close to matching my twelve in terms of creativity? I think there days a lot of young bands out there that have good intentions, but they soon realize that if they don't start playing crap, they won't survive. The kids don't want good music. All they want is the next novelty song to download on their ipod.

  • 10000diamondeyes, My top Bands from 1970..Moody Blues, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Derek and the Dominoes, Allman Brothers, Jethro Tull, The Grateful Dead, I'll throw in Santana to make it eleven. What are your top ten from 2011?

  • sounds so oriental to me. i love it.

  • So many great great bands around in 1970..I feel like the music has died.

  • @Equinas i disagree. i bet your parents would say the same thing about this music (that the music has died). just as my parents dont like my generations music.

  • @10000diamondeyes ,

The only things I hear young people listening to now are things like Lady Gaga and rap. If you call that good music then I feel sorry for you.

  • @Equinas theres a million other bands out there. if all you see is lady gaga and rap then i feel sorry for you.

  • My dad was there in 1970. I am so jealous it's unbelievable. Although he was probably too high to actually see anything of the musicians, but he says he remembers Hendrix and The Who.

  • The Who and Hendrix probably overshadowed everyone else's set publicitywise, but the Moodies performance at the Isle of Wight 1970 was sensational.

  • I was so young when they were playing this for this first time I ididnt get it. It took my brother playing the album over and over again before I realized what he was getting and what I was missng.

  • 20 kids who have been force fed by Disney and Nicelodeon, talentless corporate generated stars who can't sing without the aid of autotune, dislike this!

  • "Oh, how I love you".

    What a beautiful song!

Written and sung by the most beatiful man.

  • One of the Greatest Ballads of all Times !!!

  • Merci!

  • BRILIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!

  • pass the doobage!!!!!

  • I saw the Moody Blues twice in concert and neither time did they disappoint!

  • @RamblinHusky

Couldn't agree more. I saw them live in concert 3 weeks ago and they still sound as good as they did 40+ years ago, especially Justin!

    Love the MBs!

  • Awesome, just great

  • This song is pure quality and will always be my favourite as it was for my late father. The people that dislike it are obviously half witted, in-bred chavs!

  • @Josephthebetrothed This was my friends fathers favourite song.. we played it as a tribute to him.. very moving.

  • My fav song.

  • My fav song

  • The drummer is having an orgasim at 3:18!

  • I have only 19 years, the music fascinated me, she is to listen and if you only have 19 years I would love to have lived during the 70 80 years ago it was very good weather and good music this is horrible today as I listen and it's very sad the younger children listen to bad music and listen to the nonsense look horrible nudity ... Simon and grfunkel are very good .... Regards from Serbia!

  • Mesmerizing.

  • Wonderful...

    Jack, from Brazil Moody's fan...♥

  • VELIKAYA PESNYA

  • Lovely performance. Thank you for posting! Love these guys. Sweet Justin only gets sexier. I guess I'm giving away my age. This is my favorite song from back in the days in the summer before 8th grade when there was nothing to do on a Friday night but sit in the dark and listen to this kind of stuff. If you were really lucky you were with some friends who had a joint to pass around. No more weed for me now, but I can see them in concert. I really miss Ray on tour, now.

  • FUCK FIERY CREATIONS THEY ROBBED ME.

  • Justin Hayward..

  • Who the fuck is kidding who THEY PUT THIS FESTIVAL NEXT TO A HUGE HILL ON PURPOSE KNOWING THAT THEY COULD USE IT AS A SCAPE GOAT AND BLAME THE POOR RECIEPTS ON THE HILL, WHO THE FUCK WAS COUNTING, I worked for Fiery Creations and they was raking it in as Exhibition Caterers was doing, This was all smoking Mirrors.

When I went to the site prior to its opening I looked up at the hill and thought what a great vantage point.

FIERY CREATIONS WAS EVEN trying to cheat its employees.

    SCOUSER MICKY.

  • The greatest love song ever made !!

  • COME LISTEN TO MY VERSION of NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN!! :)

    -ZANDER BLECK

  • @Zanderbleck No!

  • Pure unadulterated quality. What a great live voice, the modern music industry could learn alot from this and stop putting out all that mass produced crap they call music now...

  • @SHEKRA1 They would probably stop but not until robots mechanial fked up human beings stop buying it... Do you really think there is one producer left who has the sincere intention to produce good music? No way

  • Pure unadulterated quality the modern music industry could learn alot from this and stop putting out all that mass produced crap they call music now...

  • Right @ 0:22 that guitar cord gives away the era! Great Music - Great Band.

  • Uhmmmmm .... I just love this song. So tender and romantic. wooow ;) :P

  • Oooohhh......, how many Joints we Smoke. Time, come back to me, just for spend a other Night together.

  • so beautiful

  • The look on the drummers face at about 3:20 says it all.Eyes closed and just flowing with the music!!!Hes gone to that magical place that all good music takes you.Within, without and all around!!

  • Classic ! One of the most creative pop music tunes ever.

  • 18 people are totally tone deaf and probably like Justin Bieber

  • idiots they are

  • @5theend1 You are an idiot creep!

  • @HellHammerX Who the hell is this guy Justin Bieber you mention here?

  • @HellHammerX

    You got that right!!

  • Breaking out after decades of people hiding their feelings, that was the revolution of the 70's. People finally telling that they have feelings and the best way ever is music. Most musicians now care for the numbers of records they sale and how many magazine covers they'll have.

  • @Lilianna222 Well put! :)

  • This piece always transports me to a French Impressionist painting scene in Paris. Although I loved the MBs for their unique mixture of moody social commentary, this love song has got to be the most moving of any I've ever heard. It terms of evoking tender emotions, it rivals some of Eric Satie's famous short piano pieces.
