@Hail2TheVictorsBaby Congrats...you won a lot of games between 1897-1951. Since then, OSU has the advantage. You guys were really good when leather helmets were "in". Good luck in 2010.

@Hail2TheVictorsBaby We Buckeyes know you are all desperately looking for any shred of hope you can find…but getting all jacked the fuck up over narrowly beating I-AA UMass by 5 points is a new low for Michigan fans. This may be my fav OSU/UM game of all time. A)It came after years of suffering. B)Tressel's comments the previous year. C)It was in Ann Arbor. D)We were supposed to get killed and of course it was a win for the Bucks!
The first ohio state touchdown. 2001-Remember him LOOK at the number "28" and look at the name "Wells" RB for osu. 2008- Number "28" name "Wells" RB for osu. Entering the twilight zone.
and about the big ten being a mediocre conference its just having some down years but look at it in 05 i think 6 teams went to major bowl games except for michigan 2 went to bcs bowls
Yes they can. Just look at Illinois in 2007, Ohio State in 2005 and 2006, penn State in 2005, Purdue when they actually ahd good athletes, or Florida and LSU against Ohio States defense in the title games. God, I'm sick of everybody saying the big bad Big ten defenses are gonig to stop RR's spread offense. its such bullshit
Yeah, we can always rely on our runninggame. Apparently RR runs a zone scheme with his O-line, and thats exactly what Michigan has been running the last 2 years. Its not going to be as hard for the o-line to adapt as the doubters think
Gee if this is how they adapt I hate to see what it will be like when they dont..LMAO..Not talking all that smack you did before the season are you..LMAO
You all make the spread offense sound impossible to defend...well, the same was said 30 years ago when Texas used to run the Wishbone and Nebraska was dominating with their option runs. And now look at both...and defenses caught on to them after awhile.
The same will happen with the spread offenses of Dick Rod
"You all make the spread offense sound impossible to defend"
right now, it is. Look at all the success RR had with it at WVU, Clemson, and Tulane. the last three NC's all ran the spread offense. And the last two heismen winnders were spread offense QB's. I'm sure there will come a day when the CF coaches find answers for the spread offense, but that won't be until, like, 2020 or later. In the meantime, RR's spread offense will wok wonders in Ann Arbor. Go Blue!
It took 30 years for CF coaches to figure out how to stop nebraska and texas triple option offenses. I'll bet its going to be awhile before the spread offense is figured out (particularly the spread option offense). Also, tressell hasn't proven yet that he can stop the spread offense. He went down and talked to some SEC coaches about how to stop it, but i'll believe the buckeyes can stop it when i see it
Here's why I think Michigan will beat Ohio State in 2008:
1. Rich Rodriguez brings an offense to Ann Arbor that Ohio State is absolutely horrible and pathetic at defending: the spread offense. Illinois, Florida, and LSU all tore the Buckeyes a new asshole by running the spread offense on them, and the Buckeyes defense crumbled like toothpicks each time. RR is the God-father of the spread offense, and he's going to find ways to pick apart the weaknesses in Ohio States overrated defense
2. RR is going to be running the spread offense with a bunch of 4 and 5 star prospects, whereas at WV, he was running it with 2 and 3 star prospects. Considering how well he did at WV with that 2 and 3 star talent, imagine how well he's going to do with all the 4 and 5 star talent he has at Michigan.
3. Because of all the talent RR has to work with, and because Michigan will be running the spread offense against a team that is horrible at running the spread offense, Michigan is guaranteed at least 21 points in next years game (injuries notwithstanding). Ohio State's offense is one dimensional with beanie Wells, who dominated us last year, but despite that fact, the Buckeyes only scored 14 points.
They are going to have to score alot more then 14 points to keep up with Michigans offense, and they can't do that, as their passing game with Todd Boeckman sucks, and as Michigan returns 7 of 11 starters on defense.
4. Motivation. Michigan has a chip on their shoulder after losing 4 straighht to the Buckeyes, while Ohio State is going to get complacent after dominating the rivalry for 7 seasons. It looks more and more like 2001 all over again, where the team that is dominating the rivalry assumes they'll continue to dominate, while the team that is being dominated plays their hearts out and earns a huge upset on the road. Ohio State did it in 2001, and its Michigans turn to do so in 2008
5. Intimidation. Tressell is already sweating at the thought of going up against RR, as he proved by criticizing RR's recruiting schemes. Ohio State's players, coaches, and fans know in the bottom of their hearts that they can't stop RR's spread offense, or any spread offense, and they are petrified at the prospect of having to stop his offense
I never said tressell was a bac coach. I think tressell is the best coach in all of college football. But give me a break: Ohio State is horrible at defending the spread offense. that is a fact you cannot argue with, so don't even bother.
Are you on dream land..lmao.First of all you need talent to run that offense..you have QB or a offensive line. Next Illini beat us once in how many times with that type of offense. Next I will give you the Florida game. But we outgained LSU in the game..mistakes cost us the game..not a excuse just a fact.
"First of all you need talent to run that offense..you have QB or a offensive line"
Wrong. We have plenty of talent everywhere on offense. What we lack is experience, especially at QB and the offensive line. But we will have plenty of experience at both positions by the time we play the Buckeyes.
"But we outgained LSU in the game"
I know that, but their offense still toasted your guys supposedly "spectacular" defense
Thats what everybody said about Urban Meyers spread offense when he arrived in Gainsville. "Oh, that offense is not going to work against the brutal defenses of the SEC! No fuckin way! Meyer is going to be out in 3 years! The MWC isn't the SEC!"
Well, in year two under Meyer, Florida won the national championship.
"Illini beat us once in how many times with that type of offense"
Illinois finally had some talent to work with in 2007, and sure enough, they toasted your guys overrated defense. face it, the Buckeyes defense feasts on teams like Akron and Youngstown state, but then they get crushed by teams that are good, and more importantly, teams that run spread offenses
No. We are 1-7 against you guys because Tressell routinely outcoached Lloyd Carr. And oh yeah, that Troy Smith guy was one hell of a football player as well. Lack of talent has NEVER been a problem at michigan, and too suggest otherwise is naive and stupid.
Doesn't matter. You said that Michigan has been losing to Ohio State because of a lack of talwnt, and you are dead wrong. Michigan has been losing to Ohio State for two reasons:
1. Jim Tressell and his staff have completely outcoached Lloyd Carr and his staff
2. Troy Smith was the best player in the history of the rivalry. He almost singlehandedly led you guys to the 2004, 2005, and 2006 victories.
This was a great day. Ohio State fired John Cooper the year before and a man named James Patrick Tressel was hired as head coach. It was an odd year (2001) so the Buckeye had to go north for THE GAME. Last time the Buckeyes came back with a victory from up north was 1987. Earle Bruce was our coach. 13 years with only two wins!! I was scared to death to watch this game. But, things worked out. Tressel worked out well for Ohio State.
Man, was this a sweet win. And I still want to know why UM hasn't had an appreciation dinner for Cooper - all he did was go 2-10-1 in 13 seasons against them.
Well...no. Actually OSU was playing Krenzel in his first career start. Had they had time to script more than 16 plays with him they probably would have kept surprising Michigan in the 2nd half too. And Wells got hurt after burning Michigan in the first half. Easily could have been about 46-0 under better circumstances.
This may have been my favorite OSU-Michigan game. When thier backup QB watched teh snap go over his head, everyone I was watching the game with busted up laughing. This was the changing of the guard in the greatest rilvary in all of sports.
I actually despise our Rb in the QB costume. Tate forcier shouldve been given better chances.

Man, was this a sweet win. And I still want to know why UM hasn't had an appreciation dinner for Cooper - all he did was go 2-10-1 in 13 seasons against them.

Who the hell is calling this game?

The play-by-play guy is Terry Gannon (member of NC State's 1983 national championship basketball team). The color guy ... no idea.

Well...no. Actually OSU was playing Krenzel in his first career start. Had they had time to script more than 16 plays with him they probably would have kept surprising Michigan in the 2nd half too. And Wells got hurt after burning Michigan in the first half. Easily could have been about 46-0 under better circumstances.

That was just a shit game. Michigan played much much worse against their underdog rival than OSU did against UMich in the 1995-96 seasons.

This may have been my favorite OSU-Michigan game. When thier backup QB watched teh snap go over his head, everyone I was watching the game with busted up laughing. This was the changing of the guard in the greatest rilvary in all of sports.
