  • This is called "Gallows" which is from the ALBUM The Collective.

  • @Iliketacos091 As much as I want to believe you, hence my devotion to all things metal, if you can't provide proof, your statement then becomes void. I'll even jump the gun and say that metal perhaps makes you a presumptuous moron.

  • sounds like joe satriani and isis had an audio baby

  • @Iliketacos091

there is a lot of thought process and lyrical genius behind rap as well.

  • This song owns. \m/

  • ''No description available''

    Damn right!

  • will be there thursday drivin from cinci to go. pth is who im mainly goin for though

  • we could just send all you haters and complainers to their label-mate Animals As Leaders and then you'd stfu.

  • Saw these guys last night with Protest the Hero, it was amazing. @Coexistentialism you will not be disappointed

  • @K1ngOfKings322 Seeing them on thursday... Glad rody wasn't as shit faced as usual should be sweet!

  • @Iliketacos091 I really hope you're just trolling or trying to give metalheads a bad rap. The music's alright, but it's not fucking magical. And if you're that clever, the very least you could do is cite your sources.

  • @CapybaraOnTheKeys Well, he just said it's been tested. He never said it was proven : P But still, I love metal.

  • When are they going to come out with a CD? <---- Custom with money ready to purchase one please sell me one thanks

  • @Coexistentialism thats right ill see you there

  • Seeing them Tuesday in Chico with Protest the Hero. Mind will be blown.

  • @Coexistentialism Seeing them Wednesday with PTH. See you on the other side! (implying that both of our minds will be sufficiently blown)

  • @Dishstony I'm gonna be seein em wednesday too, should be a good show.

  • @VonCarnstein Sweet man, see ya there :P

  • Animals as Leaders and Scale the Summit need to tour together

  • @ddustbuster agree I NEED TO SEE THEM B4 I GET OLD!

  • dig it, but have to say ... Animals as Leaders > Scale the Summit

Seems like STS are trying to be way too precise, really trying to emphasize certain notes and accents, all the while trying to maintain a certain flow and direction to the songs, and after a while it becomes predictable and unsatisfying. I enjoyed 'Carving Desert Canyons' more.

I think they have the correct style and potential to unleash an absolute masterpiece in the future, they just need to get it right.

  • @rocksoulreggae Nah, I think you're overcomplicating it. Two different bands, two different styles...your tastes just cater more to the other.

  • Hopefully, I'll see them tonite with Cynic and Obscura! Just heard them for the first time... I like!

  • @bsk777 Dude, Cynic Obscura AND Summit? Are you trying to make me ejaculate?

  • @rjgrand666 IT WAS ABSOFKINMAZING

  • @bsk777 Goddamnit you lucky bastard, I would die happy after seeing a show like that lol

  • @DoubleEdgedSword12 It's been a while since I went to a metal concert, so I got home with a signed LP from Obscura, 4 CDs from the bands and a Cynic t-shirt! :)

  • @bsk777 Niiicccceee

  • God, I can't decide if I want to buy this album or wait for AAL's Weightless to come out and get that instead. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • @Iliketacos091 But what about Cynic's new EP?

  • @Iliketacos091 this album is more enjoyable than new aal in my opinion

  • @taylorshred Weightless needs a few listens to sink in, once it does, oh man.

  • @IcarusCinematics fuck yeah man i know what you mean man, ive been listening to both of those albums non stop, soul crushing shit.

  • @IcarusCinematics got any favourites off weightless?

  • Heroic BSOD at 3:48

  • 0:25 sounds like a slayer riff. i don't like that.

  • thumbs up if you think Opeth should've toured with Scale The Summit instead of boring gay ass Katatonia

  • @SpartanLaserCanon katatonias not gay but at least these guys are touring with cynic

  • Check out this band CHON. It's instrumental prog metal. Crazy shit.

  • @grahamcrackerlvr4578 chon is the shit niggy!!!

  • @grahamcrackerlvr4578 I make my breakfast listening to them, I make love listening to them, I make turds listening to them, I make Z's listening to them. Sometimes I listen to Scale the Summit, too.

  • @grahamcrackerlvr4578 I'ma have to check CHON out. I would like a link if you will, good sir.

  • @ChapelofSuicide

    watch?v=HG5raDMRZa4

All their stuff is on their fb page too.

  • @grahamcrackerlvr4578 Yeah, I didn't wanna wait, so I managed to find 'em. Not bad at all.

  • This song put the picture in my head of a swarm of ants racing to take over some helpless insect, but the insect fending off the ants and flying away. leaving the grounded ants far below.

  • @tdoro89 but then the bad ass ants with wings killing it to death in mid air?

  • this band is playing at my band's practice space on november 21....my band is called brutal acclivty......god im fuckn stoked

  • AAL ftw

  • Some subhumans accidentally visited this page and their puny brains could not comprehend what they heard, so the disliked the video. Poor subhumans, they know not what they miss.

  • this is the kind of music i like to hear while snowboarding

  • @BeADjent 84753457234857348957384, sorry, just counting the number of people who copied me

  • this band lost all value when i heard animals as leaders.

  • @ibtrey13 WHY...THEY BOTH ROCK

  • @ibtrey13 wtf!!!!!!!!!! both bands are sick

  • Seven strings power

  • @DonCuloAmargo chris plays and eight although its tuned like a seven with a high g string

  • @comatosepuma It really sounded like a seven string guitar. I feel like a douche now, you are a bad person );

  • I fucking love bands like this <3

  • @S1ghtl3ssK1ll yesssssssssssssssssssssss!!

  • The great thing about instrumental music, is that when it is as good as it is here, you don't need lyrics to portray a message or story. These fine musicians give you the opportunity to create your own scenarios, draw your own understandings and relate the music to any situation you please. Doesn't get much better than that.

  • @SASPython I really understand what you are saying. It happens alot that when I listen to music, some songs reminds me of a part of my life or even make me think about a scene of a movie. Sometimes it's just my own imagination. Music is awesome.

  • @SASPython so true

  • @SASPython It's like comics vs. novels. Finally, some people get that vocals aren't needed.

  • @SASPython what's funny is that this song has more meaning and depth to it than the songs of lil wayne's or wiz khalifa or whatever the fuck people listen to these days does.

  • As soon as a that caption at the bottom came up, I immediately tried to close it... :P

  • We worship you guys, instrumental music is great.

  • No matter how hard I try I can't seem to find a reason why someone would dislike this song

  • You know what is awesome about instrumental bands? You don't have to not like them because you don't like the vocals.

  • @mcbombshell39 This is how I mostly am about Dream Theater.

  • saw them play this song live..... i don't understand how they can play this with only 4 people?!

  • @danevati Only one Guitar player?

  • @NipplesMagee wait what?

  • @danevati My bad, I was asking if they only had one Guitar player, but they don't, lol. You said 4 people so I thought they only had one Guitar player.

  • @NipplesMagee Haha well how could it sound this good with only ONE guitar player? :P

  • Is this the stuff where they use fractal patterns and algorhythms to create the rhythm and beat?

  • @Lewislpalm If you mean Math Rock/Mathcore, then no, this is prog. What your thinking of is more like The Dillenger Escape plan.

  • all the songs sound the same...

  • @VelaToNorma7 What amazing? Yes I agree.

  • basically math rock, with a few metal-ish parts

  • @gomer1021 You're joking, right? This sounds nothing like math rock.. i'd say post-rock tops, but still.

  • masterpiece

  • hell fuckin yes!

  • Well, as for me, I don't find it boring at all. Yeah, it might be a little different from the previous releases. But, as for a musician, BORING is to stick to just one sound. It would be like eating licorice for a year, and licorice was your favorite last year.

  • @kmoj12345 just to let you know Gallows is one of my least favorite tracks from the album, i would check out Whales, The Levitated + Secret Earth, Alpenglow, Drifting Figures, Balkan, this isn't their best album but like somebody said earlier it's different but still a great album

  • "no description available" haha more like "no description needed"

  • @im7onthe7th I think you mean "no description possible"

  • @im7onthe7th more like "no description possible"

  • Why 6 dislikes? this is good music.

  • Not as melodic as I thought it would be, still great.

  • 6 people just don't get it - their brain is too slow to understand the music.

  • @AmIEvile Eh, it's completely understandable, a little boring. There's too many bands relying on polyrythms and subtle melodies like this for it to be all that interesting.

  • @AmIEvile Like, I just dont see a point in putting a dislike button on a Scale The Summit video, how do you dislike this, I can see it not being someones cup of tea, but voicing your distaste of it is just weird to me.

  • @Djentleman111 People do this because it's not, let's say, everyday, easy-to-listen music. More and more begin to dislike and say that it's not music, among other atrocities, because they don't even try to understand it. And that's wrong, because in order to appreciate this genre, you need to feel the song, not just hear it. Hence the dislikes.

  • @AmIEvile The other two missed the like button.

  • @AmIEvile Y'know it's actually been tested that when you listen to metal and other fast paced music like this, it gives your brain a workout. So usually the people who like metal are the smarter ones and the people who like, for example, rap are less intelligent.

  • Scratching a record backward and grabbing your nuts found its way into The American Music Awards. Now that is far from being intelligent.

  • @Iliketacos091 how do you even go about testing that theory?

im open ears to every genre of music, ranging from this, to techno, to folk, to rap.

i dont like one more than any other, but rap can be pretty fast and very intelligent depending on if you listen to the main stream bullshit or some quality underground shit. its also pretty hard to keep a flow to the beat and not mess up

  • @nakedmongoose123 I have no idea how they tested it. Maybe surveys? and yeah some rap is alright. but most of the "mainstream" stuff is absolute shit. i do realize it would be hard to keep a good flow, but that isn't related to intelligence, just musical/rhythmic talent. in short, i agree with you. my first comment was just an interesting fact i read somewhere.

  • @SpartanLaserCanon FLAG THE SPAMMER

  • @Iliketacos091 lollllooololol

  • @Iliketacos091 That's a pretty lame comparison. I would say people who listen to any shitty unimaginative music, whether it's rap, pop, metal or whatever are less intelligent. Just because rap is dominated by clowns who rap about bitches and bling, doesn't mean that there aren't good rappers out there who make you think. I would go as far to say that people who look down on other types of music simply because they think their favourite genre is better are less intelligent.

  • @rage1331 I was just sharing a fact that I found interesting: metal can make you smarter because it takes more brainpower to catch all the fast rhythms and notes. I know plenty of smart people who listen to both metal and rap. I don't usually like rap, but there is some that I enjoy.

  • @Iliketacos091 Also when it's off beat and syncopated songs like this that require technically challenging instrumentals in which the listener must appreciate the skill required to play them, your brain gets a workout from trying to understand the beat and shit like that

  • @TheZohaun exactly.

  • @Iliketacos091 Maybe if you break the music down in your mind

  • @Iliketacos091 lol, I'd like to disagree, but I can't manage to find any flaws in your logic.

  • @Iliketacos091 pahaha are you actually suggesting that people like Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks and Akala are NOT intelligent. Granted theres alot of shit out there but alot of underground rap out there is INCREDIBLY intelligent. I listen to old school death and thrash metal mostly however but i do not claim that they are more intelligent than other genres. In fact i would say of lot of metalcore and hair metal is INCREDIBLY stupid lol

  • @ArseLoad0fMetal666 I don't listen to a lot of underground rap. I just know the mainstream stuff is shit. And yes, there are metal bands that suck and are stupid coughcoughBVBcoughcough.

But bands like Scale the Summit, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, and Protest the Hero ; bands with lots of technical stuff are really intelligent and awesome. That's all I was trying to say.

  • @Iliketacos091 - you have a link to this study?

  • @FLDisaster nope. i read it a while ago, forgot where.

  • @Iliketacos091 Unless you pay attention to the lyrics...

  • @Iliketacos091

Suicide Silence listeners are an exception.

  • @unhallowed45 touché

  • @Iliketacos091 Judging an entire genre like that is actually really stupid. That's saying it's okay for people to say that all metal sucks because they heard something like Black Veil Brides or Waking the Cadaver.

  • @SlayEmAll1986 There are shitty metal bands. But I'm not talking about the genre's quality I'm talking about how it affects your brain.

  • @Iliketacos091 Citation needed

  • @Dualhammers go on google and find the article yourself

  • @Iliketacos091 That's fucking stupid. Can you give a reference to how and who tested that? Bullshit or not your theory that follows is weaker than this bands polyrhythms.

  • @Cowphat1 So you're saying that a band has to have crazy polyrhythms to be any good? That's fucking stupid. Can you give a reference to what God came down and decided "METAL WITHOUT POLYRHYTHMS IS SHIT"

  • @Iliketacos091 just so you know, there is plenty of rap/hip hop out there that is quite intelligent and sophisticated in its lyrics. Just gotta look for it. Now as far as the "hip hop" that the radio plays, I agree with your statement 100% lol

  • @calypso1799 Jesus Christ, just go back and read some of my other comments. I explained that, yes, there is good rap, but most super popular stuff is shit.

  • @Iliketacos091 [Citation needed]

  • @Iliketacos091 Deathcore is fast paced and yet a lot of people who listen to the generic part of the genre are most of time not really smart.

  • @Iliketacos091 it all depends on the artist and song, listen to some tech nine.

  • Pretty sick, very metally sounding song. For Scale the Summit
