You all are ignorant clowns. I hate to break it to you hippies, but reusable grocery bags are made out of PLASTIC. If you read the tag on any reusable bag, it says "reusable and recycleable". You CANNOT melt down 'cotton or hemp' and mold it into a new bag.

A normal plastic bag has 16 times LESS plastic than a reusable one (prove me wrong), therefor takes 16 times less time to break down. Brainwashed idiots are growing and destroying our world, not plastic.

A plastic bag is the most and excellent bag you can have. PLASTIC bag is resistant, reusable countless times, washable, you can use it even for food and wash it again. Plastic bag will perdurate so much time to you USE it. Paper bag is trash, its hard to reuse it, you can't wash it, you can't use it with heavyweight, paper bag is trash waste. Plastic bags is better, reusable, multipurposes. People have given a bad use for it... so sad and now plastic bags are SATANized.

Get fucked; normal people do use totes and crazy people do use plastic/paper and vice versa. Totes are strong and durable and they do help to reduce an individual's plastic usage. Though they are more expensive,they are the right choice as opposed to plastic fiber. The people who buy the $2-$5 plastic fiber totes and use them for everything from their laundry to their groceries are the people who don't know anything. You, sir, are an environmentalist. the type of plastic bag matters.  here in Norway, they're almost exclusively bio-degradable, and a study found that 90% of the shopping bags are reused as garbage bags. in other words, if plastic shopping bags were banned, people would have to buy an equivalent amount of garbage bags instead, so there's nothing to gain from a ban. still, it's good to be concious of wasteful packaging etc.

only plant-based plastic will decompose, not oil-based. what do you think that happens with things in nature? they disappear? conservation of mass. things only transform into another thing. if you burn plastic, you'll get ash and co2. if its not burned, it will photodegenerate and now in oceans there is 6 times more plastic particles than plankton. what are fish and whales going to eat? fish stocks are already declining. we dont need more of that in oceans.

wow, I've been brainwashed while growing up that plastic bag are awefull, now someone ban it and people complain about how worse paper bag are. this clip shows that plastic bag is much better than paper bag, so it was in fact a good invention and it was progress. now i'm pissed off at all those who preached that plastic bag would bring our world to destruction.

Did you not watch the video? both plastic and paper bags are bad. And what they don't mention when talking about the costs of paper bags, is that they at least do break down in sewers, in the water and in landfills, unlike plastic bags which can clog those things and of course kill wildlife and will stick around doing both, for many many years. Whereas paper bags do breakdown fairly nicely.

When I lived in Europe they charged for plastic bags. I own eight regular totes and one insulated tote. I still end up with plastic bags! They get in under the radar the little bastards. I give those to the local thrift shop. I wont have them in my house. My garbage cans have buckets inside that I take out to the trash cans and I wash them regularly. It's a little more work but I would rather do that than see another plastic bag blow by on the wind...

thank you for the great movies, but the statistics here are misleading because plastic bags weigh so much less than paper ones. according to many studies, plastic bags cause much less pollution to air and water (two plastic bags compared to one paper bag) and while they may not biodegrade, they cause no harm in the ground while paper bags create a lot of toxic chemicals in production and recycling which we breathe and drink.

growing up and we used paper bags, they were reused as trash bags in the house, then they said plastic bags were better for enviornment, so we changed, and now those bags get recycled at store or used as trash bags at home. I have a large family, I shop once a week and it take me about 20 bags to get it all home, I dont want to be harming the earth,but how do you judge how many bags you will need and where are the cloth bags sold? thanks your videos are always good.

I always keep at least 3 totes in my car for grocery shopping. And when I used to live in a city just blocks from the store I'd just lug those festive looking bad boys w/ me! Plus as incentive most grocers take a few cents off your tab when you get rung up if you supply your own bags.
