I peel and dice up fresh Turmeric root. I put one heaped tea spoon of Turmeric & 1/2 tea spoon of black pepper into a cup and fill it with just a little bit of water, I whirl the cup around then shot the mixture.
I fired my doctor. ALL he cares about is cholesterol levels & practically everyone who comes into his office is put on Metformin. My cholesterol was lowered, but the reason I fired him, was because his mind was closed to anything I had to say about the benefits of natural products for healing. Also, he puts people on Vicodin for pain & then if they miss 2 appointments, he attacks them & acuses them of buying it on the street! No lie. I've started organic juicing & doing great without his drugs.
@WermGut good stuff! dont trust the doctors, they are part of socities that tell them to lie to you....agenda 21...depopulation.....call it a conspiracy theory but isnt it weird the doctors are so ignorant about their practice.....
Hi dr. mercola. I really love your videos and your website. You provide such a wealth of wonderful info. I was wondering if there was a such thing as overkill of supplements? I had cancer and also have cfs and fibro. I was prescribed the vitamin c in ascorbic acid form, as well as E, vit d, b12, and folapro by my immunologist. However, I'm also taking Krill oil, primrose oil, coconut oil, co-q10, l-carnitine, bee pollen(and royal jelly), as well as tumeric. Is this too much?
It's best used too cook with, curries are golden because of it. Anyway the other method is boiling it in water till it's rusty reddish orange, instead of yellowy. Drinking it like a teat, it's tasty with honey or agave in it. Capsules pointless, dry powder that hasn't been reconstituted is pointless as well. The Ayervedic thing is to cook the dry powdered herb down in water till it turns into a paste and then adding a tablespoon to warm milk every evening before bed. Cooking is fine...
one raw teaspoon of turmeric mix with a quarter teaspoon of black pepper and one Tablespoon olive oil i think is a good way to consume turmeric each day, i use water to take it down. i wonder what Dr. Mercola would think of this approach.
Turmeric has lowered significantly the cravings and my desire to drink alcoholic beverages and liquor. All alcoholics should try it. It also seems to be a good anti-depressant.
Indians use turmeric everyday (with warm milk, curry, vegetables, stew ) for general well-being . Turmeric is very helpful with inflamation, alzheimers ,cough&cold,
cancer, arthritis, boils, worms, anameia, measles, I buy pure and pesticide free turmeric from Indus Organics online at affordable price.
And I use turmeric, garlic, palm oil, wheat germ oil, astaxanthin, zeaxanthin, acerola, anthocyan, polyphenols, fish oil, vitamin D 25microgram/day, fish oil capsules, lycopene, rock salt, glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate.
I take Meriva Curcumin Phytosome and since taking it, I noticed my recovery times from sports related injuries to be much quicker. Which is great! Also my asthma has receded from a roar to a whimper. But my only concern is that is Curcumin like a NSAID in the sense that it inhibits inflammation to speed healing but where the tissue is not healed or remodeled correctly? In other words, is quality sacrificed for time?
I use turmeric regularly. I have an extremely bad knee and turmeric has helped heal and repair my knee better than any other thing that I have tried. I use the liquid extract and find almost immediate relief from swelling and pain. It is AMAZING!!!
what about using haenero peppers will they work as well as the black peppers? Also at th efarmers market I saw some turmeric from jamacia is that a good one to buy?
I'm just wondering if the below information (garnered from the nih site) would put Turmeric in the category of a dangerous anti-inflammatory such as the ones below which are implicated in an increased risk for heart attack??
"Taking turmeric along with medications that also slow clotting might increase the chances of bruising and bleeding.
meds such as aspirin, (Plavix), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen, naproxen, etc"
@mercola, In your video on turmeric, you mentioned a hyperlink re your trip to India. However, it is not currently available in the 'description' of that video.
Here is a nice recipe that includes turmeric powder: Sauté chopped onions with oil, then add artichoke quarters from a can and then add tumeric powder liberally. Let is sit and simmer for 10 to 14 minutes. Stir occasionally. Serve with bread or rice. You can add a little bit of butter and of course salt as desired. All ingridients at your local superstore. If you don't know which aisle, ask. After enjoying the meal, DO NOT forget to brush your teeth.
@TheKarima34 You're very very right. Always chew few Black peppers before consuming Turmeric. Black pepper contains a compound called 'Pepparine'. It helps better absorption of 'Curcumin' a miracle compound found in Turmeric. I'm taking this combo regularly for last few months. Always eat raw turmeric don't cook it or boil it.
@simonw1485 I would assume, as they are always saying that Freshly ground spices are better, for example, Garlic powder is pretty much useless, being that it's active compound allicin pretty much disappears within an hour of crushing the Garlic. Like Mercola said though, Spices in these types of forms could still produce some benefits. Cheers!
@ErmUhOkFine You're right, it looks like it's supposed to be spelled and pronounced tur meric, you would think someone of Mercola's caliber would get that right, maybe it is misspelled/spoken in a lot of circles?
@ericsbuds Are you referring to that GROUP thing that it appears that "Myster Ey" put up? That's the only strange thing I'm seeing on his main page... ??
Motherwort leaf, saw palmetto berry, Rhodiola rosea root, and red clover blossom interacted strongly with the rats' estrogen receptors, indicating that they have a strong estrogen-like effect in the body. Dang gui root, black and blue cohosh, vitex berry, hops flower, wild yam, and licorice root also showed some estrogen-like effects. Maca root, cramp bark, and turmeric root showed the weakest estrogen effect.

@SkaRocksYea Yes it does, but try to get these food items, as close to organic as you can, because I buy organic everything, when I can... also remember my blood pressure was extremely bad, I remember I at 3 whole cloves of garlic, and after about maybe 5 minutes or so, It felt like someone poured ice water in my blood stream, and I felt so cool and relaxed that I immediately feel asleep, then I woke up and checked my blood pressure, and it had gotten quite a bit lower, so I continued this.
