"drifting" with AWD cars is not hard, I got some prety crazy drifts in my Evo V with about ~550hp. the best and most challenging drifts will always come out of RWDs
But FR and 4wd cars each have their own personalities and the theories and techniques for drifting them are different as you probably already know....
however, they are both fun to drift in their own respects. One reason y 4wd drift is fun is that after you initiate the drift, you can then control the car through the entire corner with just the accelerator without even touching the steering. even exiting to the straight with zero countersteer
Yes I have. But I didn't like the physics at all. It has a more "arcade" feel to it which turned me off. I am so used to gt3 that it has become THE game that I compare ALL other drifting to and so far, nothing has even come close to the drifting in gt3. Perhaps if I took the time to actually get good at gt4, maybe my opinion would be different but seeing as how I've been playing gt3 for about 8 years since its release in 2001, gt4 has a long way to catch up. Maybe I'll try it again just to see..
well I found different settings on the limited slip and turning down certain driving aids I could get some rwd cars like sileighty and silvia to drift.. its pretty hard to control tho. i havent tryed drifting a 4wd car tho.
When you say "regular", I assume you mean grip driving right? Racing for the fastest time...? I totally agree with you but drifting is more challenging and just plain fun! There are so many more variables involved and its not about winning but more about style and technique.
Well, I like your attitude better than that guy you harass every now and then, who states that, "... drifters are faster than 'grip drivers'...". LOL
I'd never even heard the term "grip-driver" before. I thought it was just plain "driving"!
Just for giggles, I ran that lap in the same car... I'm sure you'll agree that 20+ seconds is quite a margin between the two styles. The other guy would probably say I cheated, but that's alright. LOL
Which guy are you talking about that I harass? By the way, I only give stupid answers to stupid questions and dumb comments back to ignorant people if you know what I mean.
In my mind, "grip" is the opposite of "drift". Ever heard the phrase "drift for show, race for dough"? Pretty much says it all...
What kind of tires you have on and how much hp when you ran your impreza? I only use simulation tires and I think this car has around 400hp.
Well, you specified Stage 1 weight reduction and ~450 HP. I had 444 HP, and used racing tires. I drive for best times only. I suppose I could drop 40 HP and slap Sim tires on and see what time I get.
Thats not bad for a controller, you should try getting a steering wheel, even a cheap one doesnt have to be a force feedback wheel or anything, check my videos i only use a dodgy wheel, makes your drifts look a lot better without the wheels flapping around everywhere when you try and adjust

so808, can u PM me your settings for that subaru? because i have been trying to drift with 4wd cars and its HARD.

Actually, I don't even pay attention to the lap times AT ALL. To me, its all about long, smooth, linking drifts and clean lines.
You got any replays? Post them up!

That's cool and all, but regular driving is faster, more consistent and better on tires.

I have tried the GT Force Pro but only for few sessions and that sucka is tough. It was fun as hell though but I wish I had more time to learn it.
By the way, do you have any other GT3 vids with an FR?
