keeping my bengal away from my food is a constant battle. even a 10 months he still wont mind his manners. oh and i found the other day, he wont just eat my greek yoghurt.... he'll eat the black cherry compote too!
@notofuspeed They get less vocal if you don't encourage it, but they do tend to remain more vocal than most cats... my bengals have all been very laid back and tolerant but when there is something the don't like they get vocal... they have different cries for "I want something" or "I'm upset"..... and a definite growl for "I'm angry"...
@notofuspeed Bengals are breed down four generations or further from an Asian Leopard Cat. They are wild animals, and as a result some of their qualities still precide in the domestic kitties we've come to love as Bengals. Many (esp males) will have those wild vocalizations from time to time, but normal meows are most common. Usually you'll hear these wild sounds and chattering during Anger, protection of food or treats, hunting, etc.
I think that the gender may be helping you too, lol but I am not sure. My boy is just stubborn and he knows it is wrong, like he knows he should not be doing that, but he tries to get away with it anyways, whether its raw or cooked, it doesn't matter as long as it is food!
He always had and has a big plate full of high quality cat food, I also feed him wet food for diner... he is just a wild cat that likes to steal our food... he is now very very nice he won't whine like he used to be, this video was posted because i thought it was funny... i never intended people to think that Bandit was not being fed or whatever, some people need to stop worrying... i love my cat, you have your opinions? get your own cat
When Bandit was a kitten he was just hilarious totally wild uncivilized i dunno if u have or have had any bengal cats but it was just so much fun to see him stubbornly trying to steal our food even if we were there so 1 day i decided to take video which resulted into this About him not sounding happy well of course not since he was not getting what he wanted but i can assure you that Bandit is a very happy cat he now understands that is my food but when im not looking he'll still try to steal it
Yup, mine was the same way. It took awhile to train him.
Had troubles also with him biting friends and visitors, sometimes drawing blood and my friends were scared of him, Haa Haa. Grew out of it as he got older.
I am already regretting it sometimes! Because he will steal our food in the first chance he gets, if i get busy for a second and turn around and i happen to leave my plate unattended he will go and try to eat it, the other morning i made a sandwich to my husband for work and left it inside the baggie on the table and Bandit stole it! I try to teach him that it is wrong, how do you teach yours?

is this an F1 or F2, and if he is aggressive maybe neutering might help reduce that.

Hi, do all Bengals generally have those distinct wildcat like vocalizations? Or you have to get lucky?
notofuspeed 2 years ago
He had that wildcat vocalization when he was a kitten, but as he grew up and socialized with other cats, his vocals sound normal now.

I'm lucky that my girls aren't that interested in human foods. The only type they get excited over is when there is raw meat in the grocery bags.

You are kind of not being nice, they way you keep pushing him then tossed him on the floor. Why not just pick your plate up?
