  • I thought this was going to be a joke when I clicked on it. I was right.

  • q bajos mas para horribles

  • Not only is it a 12 string, but it's fanned fret and headless

  • holly f..k !!!!!!!

  • Just wierd... Like a babe with 12 fingers

  • I wouldn't call it a bass guitar, it's more like a bass zither.

  • 12 string bass ... that's just ridiculous. At that point you may as well get a Warr Guitar or a Chapman Stick.

  • @propyro85 heck, even passed 6 strings, you should just get a stick or warr guitar.

  • DROP TUNE THAT BITCH!

  • the israelites crossed the red sea with this.

  • that must be fucking uncomfortable to play

  • tarded

  • that thing is an optical illusion

  • Fucking ridiculous.

  • y it no have head stock???????????????????

  • @amungthechaos it doesnt need a headstock with tuners on the bridge! plus no headstock would mean a lighter neck and i think you would want to shed every pound off of this guitars weight

  • @deicidalmaniac ya sorrry its just that ive never seen a guitar without a headstock it does sound like a good idea on a bass this big

  • Nice skateboard?.... that's a bitchin' SURFboard.

  • The back of the neck looks like a giant piece of bacon!

  • The whole bass is a neck!

That must be a bitch to tune!

  • They need to inlay "EPIC" on the fretboard.

  • Comment removed

  • ain't anybody gonna play that monster???? ;)

  • Thats gotta be a pain in the ass to tune

  • "Yes...I'd like a new set of strings for my bass please" "sure sir, that'll be 800.00$" :O

  • broke trees to make stupid instruments

  • Perfect pitch = when the bass gets tossed in the dumpster without hitting the rim.

  • can you play on tree?? :O

  • Headless, which would make it even MORE painful to tune.

  • pointless....... All I need is a Bass with 4 strings.

  • @jazzfusionsoul nah brrrooo its all about that 6 string bass xD i do thing tht is unnessecary tho....

  • that's... really stupid

  • What's next 32 strings?

  • Thats not a bass.

    Thats a keyboard.

  • I am a lifelong bass player - expert level -

That is an hilarious oddity unless you are 9 feet tall and have 12 inch fingers.

  • thats not an instrument, its an oddity, a sideshow circus freak. I guess this is the world we live in. always feel the need to make something bigger and better and more sophisticated. But simplicity is where its at for me.... pass.

  • @RedroomStudios It's not an oddity. It's innovation. Simplicity is fine, but if everyone stood by boundaries and simplicities, then there would be no progress in the slightest. I understand it's not your thing, but this is a legitimate instrumental progression. Listen to Jean Baudin, he is a prime justification for this kind of instrument.

  • 0:10 ".....wow"

  • that is chuck norris' ukelele

  • @elfrijolero10 This is rather Hagrid's ukulele!

  • @elfrijolero10 That's Clint Eastwood's toothpick.

  • Whats the point of this shit?

  • Fail

  • wtf? it's like buying a ps3 with 24 controlls... you don't really need that much

paganini made magic with a 1 string violin

  • silver surfer, meet bass surfer..

  • do a F#

  • So.... It's a surf board with bass strings on it?

  • Nice Seinfeld background music.

  • no. i've said repeatedly during this back and forth that 4 strings is right on in case you've missed it. i was humoring you about the 1 string bass, but i suppose that went over your head. but no i really must not be getting what you're saying because what sentences you do manage to type out correctly stress the compositional desire to express range of tone over functional playability. and that boils down to a matter of taste, over which there's no point in arguing.

  • @nowweareone once again YOU are missing the point here.

What is right on is SUBJECTIVE. your opinion DOES NOT MATTER IN AN ARGUMENT.

Functional playability and range of tone. Listen, some things are not able to be played without this range of tone, the two things are in many cases mutually inclusive. Ofcourse the best amount of strings is a matter of taste, which is why you can't say that 4 strings is all ANYONE really needs.

  • @lusteraliaszero another day of this? let it go man. you started this back and forth by disagreeing with an opinion. you would have accomplished way more by just disliking my comment.

  • @nowweareone Your viewpoint is an incorrect opinion. my viewpoint isn't an opinion, it's a fact.

  • @lusteraliaszero i disagree

  • It's a harp with a fretboard ;)

  • i like how the company is called prat

  • Must be a bitch to tune.

  • THANK GOD MY PENIS IS HUGE!!!!!

  • 4 is all anyone really needs.

  • @nowweareone bullcrap.

  • @nowweareone yes. there are plenty of things that aren't doable on 4 strings, or atleast much less feasible. 12 is pretty dumb for the most part, tho

  • @lusteraliaszero If there were any real need for more than 4, Cliff would have used them.

  • @nowweareone That's seriously one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. For real.

Cliff was a soloist in a metal band, he needed something speedy that he could manipulate.

but what if someone wants to mostly make harmonies and have a wide range of tones? That's completely different. hell, one of the greatest rewritings of cliffs music IS on a 7 string.

  • @lusteraliaszero like i said, 'any real need'

  • @nowweareone what a cop out. peoples tastes differ.

  • @lusteraliaszero right, peoples tastes differ. my taste in playing doesn't really extend into 5+ strings range. thats why i stated my preference for straight 4. why you called bullcrap and proceeded to start a discussion about a topic that really comes down to a matter of taste on a youtube board with a stranger is beyond me.

  • @nowweareone yeah, that's why you said '4 strings is all ANYONE really needs' in the first place the issue WAS that you didn't take anything into consideration

  • @lusteraliaszero ok. i apologize to you, lusteraliaszero, for not taking your personal feelings into consideration when posting my opinion about bass playing. had i known how sensitive and delicate you are about this matter i would not have stated my opinion.

  • @nowweareone not my personal opinion, just, any opinion what so ever except your own would be fine.

But you are right, I am a bit sensitive towards hardcore stupidity

  • @lusteraliaszero so believing that all a guy needs to rock is a 4 string is stupidity? don't tell Lemme that.

  • @nowweareone No, believing 4 strings is all ANY guy needs, that is stupidity of the highest degree, I mean, SEVERELY retarded.

  • @lusteraliaszero 4 strings is. additional strings is a matter of want, not need. you may Want the 'harmonies and [to] have a wide range of tones' that additional strings provide. you dont Need them to rock.

  • @nowweareone it's a matter of NEED to play certain songs.

  • @lusteraliaszero so what if the guy with a 12 string Needs it to play certain songs? you've stated that having that many strings is dumb. what makes his 'need' any less dumb than yours with however many strings you play? just how many strings are needed before your position advocating 'more harmonies and wide range of tones' itself becomes over the top and dumb? i appreciate your last comment, its good to read a reply that doesn't include demeaning banter.

  • @nowweareone @nowweareone he doesn't. I doubt he really utilises all 12, and even so, I only said that 12 strings is dumb FOR THE MOST PART.

Personally, I don't play with more than 4, so please, don't make assumptions. you're acting like a wide tonal range and harmonies are a matter of choice, when they are simply essential to some things. You keep straw manning by picking out some of what I say and leaving some out.

And I dunno dude, some of your shit is a bit condescending too.

  • @lusteraliaszero good. 4 strings is all you really need. no need to curse.

  • @nowweareone when did you come to that conclusion? I just explicitly said this wasn't the case, and you didn't bring up a counter argument

You NEED a 7 string to do certain things, and you NEED these things to play certain songs.

  • @lusteraliaszero you just said that you play a 4 string. - so bass players need 7 strings in order to rock?, they do only if they've written such parts for themselves, that is, as you say the 'tonal range and harmonies' they've chosen to write for themselves. You say that tonal range and harmonics are 'simply essential to some things' as if bass lines magically write themselves. If you have a 4 string, you're going to write music that is idiomatic for 4 strings; same with 5,6,7, or 12.

  • @nowweareone I said I play a 4 string. But SOME bassists need 7 strings to play their stuff. you're retarded if you say that all something needs is to play the same shit over and over again.

Basically, I play rock, some play classical, we have different needs.

Originally you said 'all anyone really needs is 4 strings' But not everyone wants to 'rock'.

Do you not realise how dumb you sound? Then I could say 'all anyone needs is 1 string' because some songs can be played on 1 string.

  • @lusteraliaszero you said 'you're retarded if you say that all something needs is to play the same shit over and over again.' i cant argue with you when you're not making sense.

about the 1 string point: you would be right if 1 string basses were made. last time i checked though the fewest number of strings constructed on a bass is 4, which is all anybody really needs in my opinion. Mark Sandman strung his with two, so i would assume i'd be debating this point with him and not you.

  • @nowweareone there are some custom 1 string basses out there. you can play very few songs on them, but you can play some, so that's all anyone really needs in your opinion. and that you actually agree just shows how dumb your position really is.

Do you really not get what I'm saying? Can you seriously not grasp the concept that some people need the bass to play something with more strings? Hey, you can play something with a single tone, why do you think people chose not to? It's retarded.

  • I dont think it playable, I think its just a sculpture, i.e. the lack of tuning head and funky looking pickups, please correct me if you have legit info.

  • Just because you can doesnt mean you do!!

  • Nice skateboard.

  • "No, sir - you're holding it back to front. That's right... like that. No, no, wait... if you hold the strings to your chest it doesn't work... hey, maybe you should start with a 4-string bass, after all."

  • it doubles as a surf board...

  • How the FUCK do you tune that shit? xD

  • no offense but all i need are four strings, sometimes five :P

  • that's retarded

  • ...y'inz have th' cash, th' talent and equipment...go ahead! Buy the instrument!! Make a wonderful noise!!!

  • have fun tuning that shit

  • nice surfboard brah !

  • anyone else notice that beard holding a bass?

  • Just buy a fuckin guitar

  • @L2PlayMusic Can't tell if trolling or is just retarded...

  • I would love to see someone play the highest fret on the lowest string. Wtf

  • @mso872 you could tap it with your right hand. in fact that's the whole point of the instrument, is two hand tapping.

  • Love the guy athe 0:44, saying : Nobody else wants too try it... XD

  • somebody call 911, they stole my snowboard!

  • that would be like alot of weeks of allowance

  • why would you need all them strings

  • @primus696969 I would like to see what Les Claypool could pull off on this bass. lol. And if there is a brown note in the world. It would be on this bass.

  • @HarvestYourDead Yes indeed nut Les Claypool kind of limits how many strings he uses, but i can imagine you are right the best bass player around

  • 3 hours later it's all tuned! See how simple?

  • thats up there with the most gimmicky instruments i've ever seen

  • with that i could shoot twelve arrows at a time

  • whats the price tag on that beast? looks fuckin sick.

  • Cool Surfboard Bro!!!

  • how many frets does this have cause it looks a lot more than usual

  • that is a bass I dream to have. I love my 6 string but I really want a 9 or 10 string. a 12 string if I could ever afford it. believe or not 9 strings aren't all that expensive :)

  • This makes my back hurt... alot

  • thats more of a harp with a fretbored than a bass.

  • @Awsomeman365 isn't a harp with a fretboard all guitar-like instruments?

  • @detectivepope basically lol

  • Have fun with restring this :)

  • SWEET BABY CTHULHU ON A POGO STICK! Ok, this thing...not for me. I'm a 4 stringer all the way. But, more power to whoever feels it's necessary.

  • no....just no...

  • this bass is like a chunky booty piece of meaty round juicy butt! not only my fingers would appreciate stroking it but my... too!!

  • This... Thing.... is beyond ugly... How the fuck do u play that "bass"?

  • In the UK, a "Prat" is the kind way of saying someone is a smart arse.

  • @CorrosionMedia You prat :P

  • It is not a bass guitar.. It is not an electric guitar.. It is not an acoustic guitar.. It is.. a guitar.

  • a bass should have more strings than a guitar. thats a rule. thats not a bass.

  • @terraking258 So whats wrong with this bass?

  • WHAT DE FFFFAAAAAAA

  • WHY? So you can play a 4-octave run without changing your hand position? I don't get it.

  • @ericx777 so you can get really high/low notes without having to tune it up/down :P

  • oh my got...maybe itÄs just me, but i would never ever think about playing this bass! Never...I mean what the fuck there are so maaany songs with 4 and 5 and even 6 string basses...I don't see a reason for this..and it think it's way to hard to play it. For me it's unnecessary ^^

  • @masterspeed94 For some its to show off, but i think the main reason is the possibillity to tap everything you want, even notes, that are as high or higher as on a guitar.

  • @MrEinOempel a 12 string bass gives you the same tonal range as an 88 key grand piano

  • @MrEinOempel If you really wanted to have a way to tap everything you wanted to, becoming a successful rock star works too.

  • Now bust some Pentatonic!

  • I'm in love.

  • How'd you play a bass like that in church?

  • i much rather pick up finger and play with that at :05

  • show us ya 5k fukn tree trunk !

    what a heap of shit

  • why?

  • HOW IN GODS NAME DO YOU PLAY THAT?

  • give each string a harmony string and make it a 24 string bass

    i is clever, no?

  • lol thats retarded

  • why

  • that thing is an optical illusion.

  • Never though an instrument could look scary but this beast really does!

  • wow. thumbs up if you think that's a huge waste of money

  • @JoeGoesGrr

How is that a waste of money? It's great for a collection and if you actually want to play it, you could have have so many different tunings on a single guitar. No roadies required ;)

  • how the fuck would you even play that effectively, im sorry there is no comfort in that at all its just to show off. It defeats the object of bass in my opinion

  • bass in soviet russia?

  • Anything more than five strings on a bass, and... It's over kill.

  • You can get this,or two guitarists and one bassist.same ammount of strings

  • it looks fucking disgusting i want to puke

  • how you tune that shit??

  • who else paused to count the strings?

  • All bass no treble!

  • thats not a bass its a fuckin tree!!!

  • how do you even play that?!

  • thats not a bass...its an ego machine.

  • i would like a little body with my neck...

  • its a tree, dude!!!

  • All I can think of is...why? I'll stick with a 'typical' 12 like Tom Peterson plays.

  • Wow, that neck is almost as thick as my dick! Almost....

  • Give it to Les Claypool!!!!!

  • waste of wood
