reese deserved it. lets get real. she was PERFECT as June Carter Cash, i was not expecting her to be good and honestly did not like her much before i saw the film- i went in with low expectations thinking "this is going to suck she is going to be bad"----but she was almost EXACTLY like the real like June Carter Cash, AMAZING, she deserved it. lets be honest people. and relax, keira will get an oscar someday if not many oscars, she's only 24 and has countless roles and her whole life ahead of her

i like keira but she did not portray an even remotely accurate version of Jane Austen's character Elizabeth Bennet in her classic novel "Pride and Prejudice"...hard-core Auten fans who have read the book 13 times or more are disappointed she was even nominated and think she should have been nominated for another role in another movie. sorry im just being honest.

Dudes and dudettes have you seen any other screen renditions of Pride and Prejudice? I like Kiera very much yet i must be honest...yes she is pretty perhaps one of the most beautiful girls on the entire planet (but that doesn't make her oscar-worthy and should never be a factor...i don't know if it was but anyway) and yes she was very good...but honesty honesty there are 10 other actresses who have played the role of Elizabeth Bennet on screen who did so better than she did. Not oscar-worthy.

@PianoMan1191 YES thats what i am talking about soooo many actresses have portrayed the role of Elizabeth Bennett of Pride and Prejudice in on-screen adaptations much better than kiera did, wonder why they did not consider atonement because kiera was EXCELLENT in atonement and compared to all those other actresses who have played elizebeth in P&P she was bad. ugggh people read the book 13 times and watch all the screen versions of P&P. kiera was not a great elizabeth yet outstanding in Atonement

Keira and Jennifer are so different from eachother in the same role. Keira is more.. furious and Jennifer says things more politically correct.. on a normal tone. Like them both.

I think Keira lost because she did a role that was uhm, over-portrayed and that the Academy felt that they wanted someone who could act different in comparison to previous roles.

the reason keira knightley did not win is because her acting as elizabeth bennet has been as well played (or, perhaps better played) by jennifer ehle. Meanwhile, no one else has played june cash as well as reese.

@davelex08 kiera's done better. how much do you know about June Carter Cash, the character Reese played. she was 100 percent perfect, so true to the real-life June Carter Cash i was blown away and i went in to see the film expecting her to ruin the movie (i did not think much of her before i saw it). kiera was not good in pride and prejudice to be honest when you compare her with 10 other actresses off the top of my head i can think of who have played elizabeth and you've read the book 13 times
