I like this very much and wonder if the orchestra is that of Ed Kirkeby or an ARC studio band, say a Sam Lanin group? Both were given the Ed Loyd pseudonym.
@pax41 I can't find this specific record in Rust - he didn't attempt to list all Ed
L(L)oyd recordings, just noted that most records labelled with either spelling were by Ted Wallace and his Orchestra or the ARC-Brunswick studio bands. (Ted Wallace was another pseudonym for Ed Kirkeby.) What a bundle of fish hooks poor old Brian Rust tried to untangle! I'd like to think it was Ed K. - it has such a beautiful polished quality.
Wow, what a beautiful song! It is true that this Helen Ward sounds completely different that the one of her Goodman's days. I would like to see the movie too.
Wow, you have been really busy this morning! I thought you would have gone through most of my recordings by now. The later posts are better due to sound quality. Thanks for all the comments!
This is an excellent version of this song, but in my opinion the all time best is Connee Boswell's.

@fatsfan70 Does Rust list who it might be? It sounds more like Ed to me.

only in that they used parts of the lyrics and re-interpreted it. it's not exactly like this.

Loyd's records are usually great, and the vocal is wonderfup!

One has to listen carefully to tell that this is the same Helen Ward of just two years later. A lovely song.

Both sides of this record are really nice. Helen does a wonderful job on the vocal.

I like both sides too but this one the best.
