I am terribly sorry, Dr. Cox, but I have to be a bit of a pedant. It wasn't Richard Feynman who gave the quip about the electron, it was his advisor: Dr. J. A. Wheeler. However, I agree that it is quite interesting to consider that there is but only one more electron than positron in this universe.

This is quite possibly my favourite QI episode ever. You couldn't have got a better person to play off Brian Cox than Ross Nobel. If they'd replaced Sue Perkins for Dara Ó Briain it would've been absolute gold... (Sorry Sue)
I am watching this episode for the Nth time, and paying attention to Brian especially, I noticed that there was so much more he could have brought in, but got run over by the flow of the show. He's so nice and brilliant. I hope he comes again and not being a first timer he could have more confidence.
I've watched this episode four times now just so I can listen to Brian's lovely voice... As well as every other video of him on Youtube. Ask me about physics, I know it now! Lol
ooh, taking a shot at mtw, very cheeky alan, brian is always one of the best guests, tossing off ewoks into lakes of methane is very poetic, thanks so much for sharing these videos, i laughed until i cried, cheers from san diego
@Jillianna that s odd, i never get even the slightest hint of arrogance from him, i do think it s cool that everyone asks him about even the most random of topics, be it jet ski s or star wars characters.. ta
Excellent show. I've added another name to the list of people that I will search out. Thanks to QI I've found Dara O'Briain, David Mitchell and Sue Perkins and Ross Noble. Now to look up some of the Professor's documentaries.
I wondered who could dislike this episode. Then I figured it out. They are puppet lovers.
@RealtorJeff Check out the one Brian Cox has done with Dara O'Briain in January of this year called Stargazing LIve, it's three episodes, one hour each.
@quite1nteresting I'm don't want to burden you but could you recommend some good bbc show. The opened a new ABC shop and it also sells quite a lot of BBC stuff.

if the supply is set at a finite level and then the demand for helium increases then you would run out. yes you can reclaim but you cannot create more
@Denseus1 and that is where you are wrong, we cannot create more YET. but it is actually already believed that the future of energy on earth and the way of solving the energy crisis will be fusion. and fusion generally entails creating helium from hydrogen, creating so much energy that actually stars burn on the very reaction
@hell043 i suspect that you may be referring to helium-3 not helium, helium-3 is a non-radioactive isotope two protons and one neutron. It is rare on Earth, and is sought for use in nuclear fusion research. They are talking about helium-4 which is two protons and two neutrons and is what people refer to when saying helium.
also, the possibility that we may be able to create more helium in the future is irrelevant if we do not have the ability by 2035 as that is when we may run out of helium.
besides the main reason of us running out is the usa actually keeping the price low because they are dropping their helium stocks, filling balloons at $5 a balloon is something noone would do
i have had roses and other flowers frozen in liquid nitrogen and shattered off of my naked body. is so stunning and beautiful, and when the shards of petals thaw the fragrance is just incredible.
Wow, my state got rather a nice call out tonight, hooray. Of course, I'm also a Kentucky Colonel--my college civics professor had some connections and got the whole class, er, coloneled, I suppose. I wish Brian had answered Ross' question about taking a Sat-Nav into space. Satellites use GPS too, but I don't think the International Space Station is in your average Sat-Nav's database. What's it going to say: "Go straight up for 1 hour then turn left"?
@GravityWell34 John session is another bad know-it-all but there was a bloke who was in the pilot episode and he was amazingly intelligent but really cool at the same time i have forgotten his name

What a breath of fresh air this episode was, compared to the previous. I think Brain Cox did a great job keeping the science down and to an entertaining level, and it suited the others aswell, I felt. Extra points for Ross' ewoks and mr Fry's excellent tie.
brian cox might be smart, handsome and sympathetic but since i'm especially moronic when it comes to physics and find him in no way funny or at least entertaining, after a while my brain drowns him out with david mitchell's voice ranting about cool good-looking science dudes... or something...
@tommarjuki I think his intelligence is a factor in his attractiveness, but without his good looks people would not be that interested. If you look at Mick Jagger on his twenties he was rather good-looking.
The nitrogen being heavier than air is of course not correct (it is slightly lighter), but because it is colder (as it evaporates at its boiling point) it will be more dense than the rest of the air in the elevator and cause the problem mentioned.
People say they are attracted to Brian Cox because he is intelligent but I really think it's because he's handsome. If he wasn't good looking no one would be saying they find him attractive based off his intelligence
@pacmansays That's arse, yes he's not ugly so that helps but people are also attractive for their personalities or talents. Mick Jagger is ugly as hell but people are attracted to him because he's talented and has charisma.
Not sure if thats true. At least not that last bit (that no one would say they find him attractive if he wasn't good looking). Im attracted to Stephen Fry and its not because I find him particularly beautiful. Its because he is funny and intelligent. That being said: Brians apperance surely doesn't hurt him.
@pacmansays You know when Dara O'Briain first caught my eye? When he was on QI and answered the question about the triple point of water. I just thought that was so awesome. It's the same reason I love Stephen Fry - because he's both extremely intelligent and also funny. Brian Cox would be just another forgettable "pretty boy" if it weren't for him being so intelligent and personable.
Brian Cox is damn old, looks so young.

A few, choice, brilliant moments here:
1. Sue's reaction to Alan saying Mock the Week was a degrading experience
2. Brian's answer to Ross' query about Ewoks
3. Stephen is wearing a Q.I. pin! Look at the lapel on the left of his jacket (his left, not ours)
4. It's nice to know that Stephen is also sexually aroused by knowledge
5. "Well done everybody especially me."
My summary of probably my favourite episode. <3

Interesting: When you want to share the knowledge because you personally find it fascinating.
Annoying: When you want to share the knowledge because you want other people to think you're smart.

@pacmansays Don't agree with that, personally I find intelligence a huge turn on. Having said that, Brian's looks certainly do him no harm.

I wanted to give this a thumbs down, not because it isn´t brilliant, but just to see what reactions I would get, but I just couldn´t do it.
