Here is a question for you then. As Heatley dropped his head while cutting to the middle, what should Dion Phaneuf have done? Should he have let him walk around? If head shots are going to be taken out of the game, the responsibility should be shared and players should be cautious. Heatley is a great player, but it was stupid. Taking open ice head shots out of the game is will create similarity to turning your back in the danger zone along the boards because you know the player can't hit you.

The announcer is only saying its an elbow because its sportsnet east so they are biased and favour Ottawa, that was just a good clean hit by Dion, no elbow at all. Phaneuf is just a good solid hitter, thats what hes known for, but I wouldnt expect a team like Ottawa to understand what a hard hits looks like so I guess thats why they tohught it was dirty

Phaneuf had his elbow tucked into his side. His arm popped up after the collision. I saw a better angle on NHL network and it was clearly a clean hit. That is why there was no penalty.
