Toyota vehicles are developed in Japan and have been launched worldwide in many countries and have undergone five or more than 5 modifications as mentioned in case of Corolla History on Toyota bharat website. Each generation is of approximately 5 years starting from 1966 -2011
This is one of the reasons for Etios to fail because Etios is raw vehicle and and it requires 2-3 modifications/generations before the modifications can be adopted. We will have to wait till then.
This is an Indian Domestic Market version of the 1999-05 Toyota Platz/Echo 4 Door Sedan and through 2008, the Chinese Domestic Market version of the FAW Vela. In addition, the related 2003-06 ASEAN Domestic Market version of the Toyota Soluna/Vios/Limo. Last but not least the 1999-03 First Generation Toyota Prius. It is NOT however related to the 2007-11 Toyota Belta/Belta based Vios & Yaris.
