  • in the last 10 secs, insetead of logging in as admin, you should have already logged in with hakir, D:

  • cd %windir% would be easier :)

  • He just changed the name of the program or not?

  • in cmd you could just put in

net localgroup administrators "desired username" /add and you have a new administrator account

  • I tried this on my XP home lappy but osk.exe was being copied from somewhere other than the dllcache. Also, when I tried to replace the osk.exe it renamed my executable osk.exe.tmp instead of copying my executable then it replaced osk.exe with the original.

    DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE.

  • @boriddlin Yeah you should probably try it with a clean install of XP SP1 without installing updates or anything.

  • @boriddlin Yeah you should probably try it with a clean install of XP with Service Pack 1 without installing updates or anything.

I wasn't aware that dllcache could be overwritten in such a manner

  • cool! I think you can also replace the file that is invoked when you press shift 5 times (sticky keys or something like that), I think it's called sethc.exe :D

  • Neat trick! I was also thinking for a moment that a batch file could have done the job but your way is the best.

  • Thank you ChaperonNoir for your comments, I appreciate that you take time to leave comments on the videos you like.

Yes, you are absolutely right, the trick could have been easily done using a batch script, but I wanted to program an executable to replace the osk.exe file to show how you execute windows programs from C code!

    Thank you again.

  • The old ms-dos commands for windows XP work. attrib.exe command and dir /a to list all files. Really cool video.
