This was a chance wasted!! This should have been a National Monument Park a gateway to the Allegany National Forest a testament to the coal and railroads of PA!! A park where you could camp, cabin, excursion Train, etc. This could have been the most popular national park to visit proven by visitors from other countries. Dmn diphits couldnt figure this one out!!
Thanks for posting this video, the song goes great to it. Born in Bradford, Pa, the bridge will be a memory to everyone. I took a ride on the steam engine number 58 with the family when I was five years old.
To marshalljimduncan....."there have been reports saying people have committed suicide off of that bridge"
Very good video. We used to go to visit the Kinzua Bridge and Dam every year when I was a child. I had not been there for several years and my wife and I stayed in Kane in 1987 when they first started the excursion trips to the bridge. I visited it again a few years ago. It is sad it is gone.
Rode the steam engine over this bridge back in the 90's. I have some great pictures taken from the bridge. The train stopped on the other side and allowed people to disembark and walk out on the bridge.
Wonderful video.... thanks so much for sharing the info and story. I also love both songs you used to carry the emotion. I'm not sure what that second song was, and I'd love to add it to my library! What was it?
What an amazing engineering feat, and what a tragic ending for the span. Thanks for providing all the different aspects and angles before and after the tornado.
I was born and raised in Bradford Pa. My Granparents had a farm in Kinzua. My sisters and myself lived there in Kinzua with them for a few years. I remember all the floods. The gov't purchased the land to buld the dam and flood the area, so my grandparents moved to Roulette. My screen name on the computer is Kinzukate. People as me where I got it and I explain where.
I live 165 miles from this bridge and have visited it a dozen or so times. I was awestruck the first time I saw it. Walked across it, peered over the edge, walked through the valley below. I was also awestruck seeing it lying in ruins. I've been back a few times since it has fallen. It's sad to see such a beautiful piece of history gone. Thank you for posting the video.
Very nice video. I grew up there and spent a lot of time on that bridge. I eventually moved away and didnt hear about the tornado. I went back to visit the bridge and seen it torn down and it was almost like seeing my best friend at a funeral. Again Excellent video!
The Bridge had never been repaired in over 100 years. The bolts were rusty, and easily snapped whenever the wind tilted the bridge that little bit off center.
i remember sittin on my dads shoulders walking across this bridge it is such a sad sight to see i love the festival there i had the honor to be a singer for the concert there
My family and I just moved to this area in January this Tornado touch down in our next door property when it was a Micro-Burst then it proceeded onto Mt Jewitt. I will never forget that day it was like a Welcome to the neighborhood comment one that Philadelphians are not quite use too.
i miss this bridge so much because my dad would take me on it all the time when i was a baby i took my first few steps on this bridge without any help so this is a big memory in my life!!!i miss it so much!!!!!!
I rode across this bridge in the 80's when the K&K started using it. The state of Pa. was rebuilding the bridge when the tornado hit, the rebuilt parts did not fail. Maybe some day a governor will see the need to repair it, until then I have the fondest memories of our trip! It was a great ride!
this was my favorite bridge in the world because it is only about 2 miles from my house!!i started to cry watching this!my grandfather helped build it and my dad replaced some of the boards.i wish this would have never happened.they cant rebuild it because it is way to bad but i wish the would.
Great video, i was just there a cpl of weeks ago, i remember going up to the bridge at like 1am a cpl weeks after the tornado with a spot light, it was crazy the destruction, not only the bridge but all the trees in the parking area. Very sad
Is there a trail or someway to get down to the valley? My mom and dad take me to alleghany every year and we always go to the bridge and dam. Very nice video
Very interesting. Thank you for posting this video. That bridge is amazing. Is it near the Kinzua Dam? I have read about UFO sitings in that area. And Big Foot.
Is there any hiking in area? i've checked with DCNR, but they were highly vague...

I have a camp on Smethport-Ormsby Road and every time I drive to the cabin, I'm always sad about the great piece of PA history laving in the creek.

kinzua sky walk! its opening in the fall of 2010, you will be able to walk to the end of the bridge, and it will have a partial glass floor!

This is a gorgeous bridge. It's kind of weird/symbolic how it just disappears into nowhere, too.
Unfortunately I live in Lehigh County so it's not exactly a short trip, but I would like to see this bridge someday.

It would be great if they could rebuild it, it's sad to see something like that come of what was once a grand structure.

I have read about many strange occurances happening by the dam. Thank you for your reply. I very much enjoyed your video. :)
