Xavier, thank you for sharing this. Igor Gorin was a personal friend of my family, and he sang the Lord's Prayer at my wedding 48 years ago. My wife just passed on, and I am trying to find digital copy to play at her memorial service. Could you possibly send me a copy that I could put on an IPOD or burn to a CD? Thank you. jam@magill.us
IGOR GORIN SURPASSES ALL THE BARITONES ON THE PROFESSIONAL OPERATIC STAGE who do not understand that singing IS an ART that requires TOTAL CONTROL, DYNAMICS, BRILLIANT TONE and SPONTANEITY the HALLMARKS of BEL CANTO
Yes Wikipedia gives a complete story of his early life and singing as a Cantor, also he spoke 8 languages fluently ----- Born Ignantz Greenberg (1904-1982)
Igor Gorin's recording of The Lords Prayer was also special to my father, who passed away in 1975. I can still hear my father telling me how much this recording meant to him, and now to me also.
indeed!!!....a nearly perfect voice!!...the power...control...brilliance!...i fear we have lost our ear...if this man was up and coming today, would people even care?...unless he was on America's got "talent?" type of silliness?...where we call Paul Potts and Susan Boyle, amazing??....please!....Mr. Goran....Thank you!!

there are a handful of baritones, that irrespective of ones personal tastes, must be acknowldedged as great. This man is one of them. I just listened to Warrens recording of this piece, and love it, but I must say, Gorin moves me in a way that Warren does not. If I had to choose five of the greatest baritone voices , Gorin would be among them. Joining him would be Tibbett, Thomas, probably Stracciari, and fifth would be a toss up btween perhaps 3 or 4 others. thanks for he post.
He was a lyric BARITONE but has a little of a Warren like sound here . Born in Russia his name was Greenberg and he had a hard life when he was a young man.
Yes, lost and forgotten because the human voice has been manipulated to generic tone. Everyone is shouting without any center to the tone because of "teachers" and impressarios who do not have the "vaguest' concept of what singing is all about. Logic should tell them that one violin string can be heard at the back of a 2500 seat auditorium
What a blessing! About 6 years ago my dad requested this specific rendition. He loved hearing it at the Church he went to as a young man. My sister & I have been looking all this time to no avail up to now. My Dad is turning 85 yrs old on May 3, 2008. This is the best Birthday present ever. He is going to be so surprised. We are so very thankful to you! I know your Dad & Igor are making beautiful music right now with the Heavenly Host. God Bless you.

2:20 til the end is probably the most amazing section of any song ever.

Igor Gorin, a Rabbi, was a splendid singer who was superior in his interpretation of
The Lord's Prayer. He became "NOTED" for this song.

One of the very greatest renditions of this profound hymn. Beauty, heart, deep emotion and
impeccable singing from the great underrated Igor Gorin, one of the greatest baritones of all time.

Stunning. No one on the operatic stage today can match Gorin.

Thanks for this post, Xavier. As a singer and former student, I have to agree with Gorin when he said, "My boy, it's like getting an extra lesson."
