I cannot speak for anyone but myself, but one of the main reasons I enjoy the show is because how it does NOT insult your intelligence, unlike almost any other show out there today. It gives a nice contrast to have a show where characters are not only well defined, but original and diverse, and stay that way throught the series. It's quite unlike shows such as How I Met Your Mother, Family Guy or 2½ Men, which all rely on cheap, shallow jokes, with occasional satire.
