  • In This Clip, From 2:19 To 3:20, It Was WFAA-TV's PM Magazine Video Promo For Fall 1980.

  • In This Clip, From 1:19 To 2:19, It Was WFAA-TV's Local Programs And Local Entertainment Video Promo For Fall 1980.

  • In This Clip, From 0:00 To 1:19, It Was WFAA-TV's You And Me And WFAA Video Promo From Late 1980.

  • I am assuming that the ad for the 3pm movie meant WFAA Did not carry ABC's the edge of night after General hospital ended, does any longtime viewers know if they blacked out ABC promos for EDGE and the stay tuned 4 edge at the end of GH,Did they tape delay edge to a early morning time slot, does anyone know if KTRK carried edge as well, except 4 ABC owned and operated stations , many major markets did not clear EDGE using that 4pm/3pm ct time slot 4 local programming .....

  • Chip Moody died several years ago, Troy Dungan retired, Tracy Rowlett was on Ch 11 up until a couple years ago, and Iola Johnson still does occasional news specials in DFW.

  • I am going to be a "Channel 8" disco dolly for Halloween next year! All I have to do is get a silly moustache and a spandex onesie with a glittery 8 in the middle!

  • I'm Ron Burgandy...you stay CLASSY Dallas Ft. Worth!

  • what kind of Ikegami is that they're touting so heavy?

  • HA HA HA!!! At 4:31, I can just hear Vern saying something like, "Alright! I don't know what son of a bitch messed with my tie, but I am gonna get to the bottom of this horse shit right now!"

  • Nice to see Mike Shapiro and Bert Shipp again.

  • I don't think Mike and Jane have been at KXAS that long. Finfrock, however, I think started as weekend meteorologist under Harold Taft in 1974.

  • I 'loved' Liza Gibbons when she was on PM Magazine. (What guy didn't?!) I remember in '80 or '81 catching a flight at DFW to Atlanta and there she was (standing beautifully) at the same gate about 15-feet away. I was like 20-years old and tried to keep from drooling on myself as I pondered over whether or not I should ask for her autograph (or maybe a hug), Anyway, brings back LOTS of memories from my days watching Dallas TV from Abilene. Thanks for the post!

  • This is terrific! But how sad it is that local TV stations have since discontinued local programming.

  • Wow. Just... wow.

  • Love it! I hope they can do it again with todays newscast! =)

  • WFAA still had the 8-ball logo back then.

  • wasn't disco dead by 1980?

  • no disco died in 1987

  • At 1:49, I feel the nostalgia coming on. Oh how I remember being a 6 year old little boy again. Religiously, I'd wake up at 6:00am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, long before my parents awoke, just to watch Peppermint Place on 8. Sigh, I still miss Muffin, Henrietta Cluck, and Mr Wiggly-Worm. Those really were the days...

  • As enjoyable as the whole promo was, the highlight was seeing Troy Dungan in bell bottoms and that shirt!

  • I love how at 4:35 they show the channel 4 and channel 5 news logos and brag about how their news teams didn't last. That took some balls lol...

  • It took some guts, but the fact of the matter is...it's the truth. KXAS (Channel 5) has had been dead last in the quality of their news product for years, and has gone through reporters every few months for decades. No one seems to stay at KXAS. KDFW (Channel 4) has kept a decent news product down through the years, and longtime star anchor Clarice Tinsley has helped with that.

  • I believe that's George Riba (still at WFAA as a sports reporter) at :45 in the yellow shirt.

Clarice Tinsley can be seen at 5:30 into the video. She is still anchoring at Channel 4 (KDFW) by the way.

  • Wow, can't believe I worked there! :>)
