Just now seeing this..amazing videos! My dad was from Metropolis...house is at 6th and Catherine. Is the water up to 6th yet? He used to tell us of the flood of 1937 and how they rowed down their street! What's the latest? Not seeing this on the news.
@carolrw54 the crest this time was 5 feet lower then 1937. 6th and catherine is quite dry but 6th street and catherine street have places that are underwater. The water crested yesterday. it's going to be a long drawn out process of the water going down.
Thank you for posting this! I'm from Metropolis (now in MD), my father and sister live on Ferry St., near the ball fields. And we all lived on Carter Drive 35 or so years ago. Went through a flood there back then, but nothing like this. I've been watching videos since I heard about it, but nothing ever showed this part of town. Thank you.
@brolinofvandar It's been very trying here and I've just been trying to catch as much as I can. I am posting everyday so please subscribe and check back with me.
@amcmillan2008 I believe everyone is doing everything they personally can and think is best for them and theirs. This event is seriously overwhelming.
Again wow... never say flooding this far into the city...spent many summers there as a kid. Be careful and thanks for keeping us posted on the water levels.
