@CaelahBethyBear I think you miss the point of the song. She is not denying the greatness of God. She is in the fetus position crying for Jesus to touch her with His kindness. At that moment she doesn't need a God showing off His might by throwing fire from the sky. Now sometimes she did and she experienced the greatness of God in showing His wonders, power and greatness, right? I think God did get small, very small in Jesus indeed. Thank you Jesus for washing my traitor feet.

The song acknowledges that God is great. The petition is not meant to be a literal request for God to become smaller. It is a plea for God to be concerned and involved in our lives in small ways, even has he is capable of infinite works.

This is one of my favorite songs. Right now in my life it feels like the trials will never end and at times I feel like this...." tonight my heart is heavy and I cannot keep from whispering this prayer...are you there?....Oh Great God, be small enough to hear me now" Whenever I pour my heart out to him He is ALWAYS small enough to hear me and GREAT enough to comfort me even though he does not see fit to remove the trials right away.
