Depending on where in america u go depends on what you do. Like we got a transfer student in my high school who is sweetish (I don't think I spelt that right) and he thinks we are really smart and emotional and hard working. All he had to do to fit in was to be funny, make lots of friends who are all different and to play video games/ read 2 books a week or 1 book with 700 pages or more in one month. Where I live we all read a lot of books, I can read up to 1,400 pages in two hours. ^^

I would think, in my own opinion... an American has at least one favorite country song which they own. An american enjoys the little things. Like hanging out with family every day. I think you are... in an interesting place to ask how to be more american!! On one hand, it's kind of the wrong place to be. With so many other cultures in New York City, you're actually talking to many immigrants, and not Americans. But on the other hand, those immigrants too have found their own piece of America, and their definition really is what has shapped Aemrica in the last 50 years or so. If you were around 50 years ago, the definition of America would be very different!! :)
