Mitt Romney's Mormon "problem" isn't any different from Harry Reid's Mormon "problem" - and that fact doesn't seem to be altering Mr. Reid's ability to advance his poltitical ideology.
The video is wrong about one point, where says there is no scriptural justification. There IS Mormon scriptural justification in their Book of Moses and Book of Abraham.
@ Alma 7:10 in Mormon "scripture" tells of Jesus' birth in the wrong place AFTER he was born. even if joseph smith was sincere he was deceived. The bible warns of an angel of light bringing forth a false gospel. And YES I know Mormon doctrine very well it does not reveal the same Christ as the bible(Gods infallible word) does!
The speaker in this video is right. I was taught that all statements for those in the Authority of the Church are scripture. Racism is bad. Not only is an apology needed, the Mormon justice system has robbed blacks and it is time Truth and Reconciliation. They need to restore to the last penny what they damaged.
There are more to "mormon scripture" than the standard works. If you're going to comment on someone's faith, you should do more than a cursory study of it.
The book of Mormon says there were elephants, horses, large advanced cities with caucasian people in the Americas before Columbus. Yet none of these have been unearthed anywhere. No caucasian skeletons, no horses or elephants. No hebrew or reformed egyptian writing. The Mayans didn't even have a 7 day week (no Sabbath to keep holy). just go to the Bible vs the Book of mormon archeology ( on youtube) and see what archeologist say about it.
You will all become Mormons after death, when you will be baptized by proxy into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mitt is simply fulfilling prophet Joseph Smith's directive to make the Mormon Church the central and foremost Christian denomination in America. It WILL happen.
@TracheaPuncher So you deny that there are fundamentalist Mormons who refused the new church policies and branched off from them ?? Polygamy is believed and is practiced by these fundamentalist not only in Utah but across this beloved nation of ours.
@TracheaPuncher I'm not Mormon and I also live in Utah and I am very aware of polygamists living in this state. They live under the radar since polygamy is illegal.
Well first off it didn't mean that blacks were second class citizens or that they were less than whites. It simply was that blacks are the dissidents of cane and in the scriptures it states that the dissidents of cane can not hold the prestood because of the choices that he made. So please do your research before you rag on a religion. I sure hope you don't see your self as a christian because it is not Christian like to talk bad on a religion.
Most Americans don't care if mitt is a Mormon. The only people who care are extreme Evangelicals and other right-wing fringe types, who are doing their worst to undermine Romney. If it weren't for the efforts of Bible-thumping fanatics, the Republican race for the nomination would be over, and Romney would be setting his sites on Obama instead of trying to defend himself from unelectable clowns like Santorum.
I don't think Obama is going to bring this up as an issue, because Romney could easily spin this and put Obama on the defensive as one not knowing or really understanding Mormonism. This is not going to come up as an issue, except for a few pundits and people like you.
this has EVERYTHING to do with the posters issues with mormonism...
Baptists owned slaves and made they werent allowed at white churches... institutionalized racism has existed in religion long before mormons blah blah blah
@yomommadid1973 Very understandable but nor as being from God. This is where Mormonism is different. ALL Racism is from God according to all Mormon's.
A Black mormon by default must except an inferior status psychologically to accept this nonsense. Black people will investigate and this religion will be exposed. Just watch.
The 99% of blacks who are going to vote for obama don't need any further argument. Unless Mitt's planning to throw $100 bills out of a helicopter over Chicago and Deroit he won't get their vote anyway.
Mitt Romney’s idol, Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon church, was so persuasive he managed to get 35 wives (proposed to one 12 yr old girl who later said she felt like an abused child & 11 who were already married)
Joseph Smith also ran for President of the United States & met w/ the President & members of Congress about his plans to turn the country into a "Theodemocracy" because his Mormon group didn’t believe in a separation of Church & State, but that Church Rules trump State Rules.
@-Joseph Smith sent campaign managers to the different states & was so certain of winning the Presidency he even sent ambassadors to different countries. But he was assassinated & Mormons wept. Now 150 yrs later the Mormon dream is about to come true in the form of Mitt!
Smith had 2 great Apostles -Brigham Young (56 wives) & Parley Pratt (only 12 wives because the husband of 1 wife killed him). Romney is a direct descendent of Parley Pratt who believed blacks were “cursed” & inferior humans
@- Mormons believe in having multiple wives b/c they believe Jesus had 3 wives & convinced married gals to marry them b/c it’d be a special “celestial wedding” which meant they & their kin would have a special place in Heaven
Parley Pratt's son Helaman Platt (4 wives) fled to Mexico after getting out of the pen. Miles Romney (5+ wives) lost his US citizenship rights to vote or serve on a jury, jumped bail & also sought sanctuary & citizenship in Mexico so he could continue to practice polygamy
@- Pratt's daughter Anna m. Miles Romney’s son Gaskell in Chihuahua, Mex & they had a son George Romney & though they’d lived in Mexico for years & set up schools & houses, a revolution caused these Mexican citizens to sneak over the USA border into Tx.
George Romney was 5 when he came to the USA as an illegal alien but was still allowed to go on public welfare & to Tx schools at taxpayers expense. B/C Mitt’s dad was an illegal, Mitt will never take tough actions against illegal immigrants
You don't know everything. You act like you have all the facts...so you lead people astray... You know somethings but you don't know the whole truth. Too bad you are trying to lead people to believe things are are only partially true. We don't live in the past of what the religion used to practice....We believe in modern day revelation. With Yes, one prophet on the earth who receives revelation for our church. Mitt is a good man, being a Mormon isn't a bad thing.
@caseydague1 That's easy. He wud not have simply said as a bishop. Sorry wrong skin color. More to it than that and the blacks in examples this guy uses wud know and understand what anti LDS will never get. He also misreps when sayin the prophet cudnt hear god. I think all denominations need to stand up and apologies for standin by while blacks were enslaved and lynched.. Not I may add. By Mormons .
@bryjb10 LDS have never disproved of blacks being members. We don't think any less of blacks.Read your bible.See how much God practiced segregation against certain peopl and cultures thruought OT. Just as in the OT only the Levites were permitted to hold the priesthood. Their was a reason why the Lord allowed or disallowed certain people's to not hold the priesthood. He does not allow woman the priesthood does that make Him discrimatory?
@atdd22 Ther are as many differences between the differing Christian sects as well. They all differ in so many ways and on very important doctrinal points. Yet they all claim to be christian and claim to have the truth. Who is right. Who has the correct interpretation of holy scripture. Christians differ as much among themselves. They are a house divided and as Christ said...will not stand.
@runningchance Barnum is often quoted as saying there is a sucker born every minute but that's not actually what he said. He didn't say " sucker". He used a different word.lol
@cdowis I'd agree completely save that you're dead wrong. Jesus wS only 'ministering' to the gentiles? That would be news to Jesus - you should let Him know!
Just curious. Have you ever read the Old Testament? Were you aware that the priesthood was limited to only one tribe of Israel, the Levites. Were you aware that Christ was only ministering to the Gentiles when He came to the earth? Are you going to call Him a racist, that Moses was a racist?
You say that it was just policy? This quote proves you wrong...
"The attitude of the Church with reference to Negroes remains as it has always stood. It is not a matter of the declaration of a policy but of direct commandment from the Lord, on which is founded the doctrine of the Church from the days of its organization, to the effect that Negroes may become members of the Church but that they are not entitled to the priesthood at the present time."
at 7:40 of the video you say that Mormons need to proclaim that they are for (social) justice: but, you and I both know that Mormons only know how to GET IN LINE WITH THE PROGRAM !
And, up pops that dufus idiot, Dallin H. Oaks, who says to the members not to criticize their leaders: EVEN IF THEY ARE WRONG!
So, to all good little spineless Mormons without a backbone: just SHUT UP & PUT UP !
Great video with a lot of truth. However the racial stance that Mormons took was part of their original scripture. It has since been removed in the current versions.
Mitt’s idol, Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon church, had 35 wives (proposed to one 12 yr old girl who later said she felt like an abused child & 11 who were already married)
I can believe young gullible teen-age girls believed Joseph Smith’s story about him becoming a God with his own planet, but for 65 yr old Mitt to believe such stuff makes me wonder if anyone can fool him.
@ When Joseph Smith ran for Pres of the US he indicated he wanted to set up a ”Theodemocracy” because he didn’t believe in a separation of Church & State. He was assassinated & Mormons wept. They’ve waited 150 yrs for the new white hope, Romney, to come along
Smith had 2 great Apostles - Brigham Young (56 wives) & Parley Pratt (only 12 wives because the husband of 1 wife killed him).
Romney is a descendent of Pratt who believed blacks were “cursed”
US ECONOMY COLLAPSED COS EUROPE CREATED EUROS! EUROPE CREATED EUROS COS REPUBLICANS WERE OCCUPIED WITH MONICA LEWINSKI DRESS! CONCLUSION; REPUBLICANS DESTROYED US DOLLAR! NOW CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME HOW MUCH WAS LEWINSKI CUNT PAID TO HAVE HER MOUTH RUNNING FOR LONG TIME, I WANA NO WHO PAID HER AND KENNETH STARR AND HOW MUCH DID THEY GET PAID ? PEOPLE WHO PAID TO LEWINSKI DO THEY PAY TAXES ACCORDINGLY 2 THEIR INCOME ? CAN US GOV. INVESTIGATE WHO DOES THEIR TAXES, ALSO WHO DOES ROMNEYS TAXES?
You're being dishonest. The Book of Mormon AND The Bible BOTH discriminate against people of darker complexion - it's there in black and white. This video reeks of Mormon and Right-wing apologists...
@Mixxiah Obviously you haven't read either, or if you have, you don't understand them. Spewing your hate is truly uplifting isn't it? Why don't you do something worthwhile and positive besides spread ridiculous lies about something you have no knowledge of?
@guylstephenson You're laughable at best. True to form like the rest of Delusional believers - you just refuse to break out of the bubble. Truth and Reason starting to get to you? Yes, I have read both books - have you? Put away the Kool-aid and maybe read a Science journal for a change...
@Mixxiah hahahaha.... what a broken record. Kool-aid! Wow.. that' brilliant dude. Truth is reason, truth is eternal. It comes from God not man. Without God's spirit you can't understand the things of God or of spiritual things. I know where my knowledge come from. Yes, I have read and daily read both the Bible and Book of Mormon, and listen to a living prophet of God. The only bubble here is the one you live in that keeps you bound from seeing the truth because you have no desire for it.
Typical "Mormon" bashing by ignorant people who have nothing better to do than criticize something they have no comprehension of. What a ridiculous video. Anyone with real intellect will ask themselves, why are people so ready to spew venom over a religion that does so much good. Christ taught "by their fruits ye shall know them." An individual with a pure heart and desire for unadulterated truth will seek to learn the truth directly from the source, not from pathetic videos like this.
@guylstephenson Mormon bashing? Joseph Smith committed adultery, lied about it and it led to his downfall. There are many lingering fruits of Josephs church. Polygamist groups, Mountain Meadows and racism are just a few out of many. These are the fruits of Mormonism.
@awolLDSasap Nice try but doesn't fly. You're showing your ignorance as much as some of the others. It's painful and I feel sad for you. You only see what you choose to see apparently and the facts don't seem to matter here. As Jesus said, "having eyes they see not, and having ears they hear not." Without the Spirit of God you cannot possibly understand the things of God. Therefore your father is the prince of lies and you do his bidding.
@guylstephenson This spirit you're talking about is evidence free spiritualism. What Mormonism calls facts is historical whitewash. Junior did commit adultery with Fanny Alger long before his polygamy revelation. He lied to Emma and the congregation. He destroyed the Expositor to hide his adulterous ways.
W.W. Phelps, in 1861, recorded that Smith received a revelation in Missouri on July 17, 1831, that directed Mormon men to intermarry with "Lamanite" (Native American) women. Smith and Sidney Rigdon, while staying with the Johnson family, were dragged from their beds in the middle of the night and tarred and feathered. A Dr. Dennison was brought along to "perform a surgical operation, but he declined when the time came to operate."11 11 Journal of Discourses, LD Book Depot, vol. 11, p. 5;
no they will not not if they find out what the church believes in the african situation is the least of what they believe, they are a different kind of crazy,on and on with the black thing ok we get it
It doesnt matter if mormon leaders were the same as all racists in society, except for the fact they professed to be the only true church. That their founding Prophet is suppose to represent the Only True God in things as significant as this. God is not a respector of people and doesnt care about color, Thats something the saints should have known.
Mitt Romney: brought to you by the Mormon cult: Proudly oppressing minorities since 1830! First your cult wouldn't allow people like ME (black folk) into your temples or in places of leadership, and now you have used your money and influence to discriminate against gay people. Who's next? I know you also treat women like property, too.
I agree. I think the other candidates could beat Obama, but not Romney and this is a large part of the reason why. I can just see the media frenzy about this subject, possibly igniting "unrest".
Dude- don't believe what they do, that is fine. But trying to say that they are stupid because you don't agree with them? Not only are you making your own stupidity obvious, but also your ignorance, narrow-mindedness, and ego-centrism.
There are people out there who believe things different than what you do, and they are clearly more intelligent and logical than you are. Do yourself a favor and keep your thoughts to yourself until you can be a mature AND intelligent adult.
Uh, Romney did not deny any person the preisthood because of their skin color. He was not a Bishop until 1981. A Bishop is the one who decides who gets the preisthood.
In the earily 70's there was still segregation in the US, it wasn't till the mid 70's that bussing happened and during this time there were riots in schools and police dogs. God has a timetable and knows what was best for the blacks and the timing. Blacks could still be baptized. Fact is there was still persecution in America outside the LDS Church,it was hard enough just being a mormon, now add the priesthood etc to it? God knew the timing, it was right, there is no apology needed.
Plus, as a person I know once said, "The church isn't always true, because church is made of people, but the gospel is always that thing that must always be true, because the gospel is made of God."
How come no one complains about Moses refusing non-Levites to the Priesthood, when he had to say, "Sorry, wrong family."?
They don't just say, and never do say, "I don't know, ask one."
I am Mormon and disapprove of Mitt Romney. But this is absolutely ridiculous when you attack us on our religion. Your history was all screwed up. Descendants of Cain could not hold the priesthood because God made a covenant in the Bible that only the descendants of Abraham could. Just like only the Levites could hold the priesthood before. You're wrong on the Black temple marriage thing too. It was not just a "policy".
@AbsoluteMonarchist Hey, I don't like Mitt Romney as much as the next person. Nor do I like Gingrich. This is a game to them. The only person that doesn't treat it like a game is Ron Paul. I'm simply defending my faith.
@masterskyrunner Okay, I agree with you and respect you for that. I don't like Gingrich either. However Ron Paul is everything people say he is. I'm a libertarian-leaning conservative AND a constitutionalist. Ron Paul is a fraud. He's a paleolibertarian crackpot. His positions equate to allowing states to run abortion warehouses, allow state recognition of gay "marriage" and legalize heroin. Paul is on the far-left in terms of social and foreign policy. Santorum is the best candidate.
People outside the church totally misunderstand this issue. Mormon history cannot be understood outside the context of the times -- they suffered extreme persecution, which hasn't completely died down (witness this video totally distorting that history). Blacks gained the priesthood after they stood up for themselves, took responsibility for themselves, and freed themselves by their actions in the civil rights movement (my opinion). It did seem rather late in coming, but who am I to judge?
Mormonism was created by a Man, Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith was PROVEN a false Prophet and Interpreter. Mitt doesn't know the history of his own religion. What other mistakes from History will he make? No matter, his largest contributors are the same as Obama... I can't believe people think he is a solution to Obama? He is a military-industrial complex shill!
@AreaOfThoughts Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God and I have the sure word of God on that and can testify with absolutely perfect certainty that he was. He has never been proven to be a false prophet. You're talking of something you know nothing of and spewing your hate and ignorance does nobody any good including yourself. Want to know if he was a true prophet... pray about it and ask God if he is. The truth can be had if you're willing to be honest and humble.
Romney actively demonstrated support for the draft but did no serve in the military! He lived it up in France instead of serving! He is a huge Chickenhawk!
@AreaOfThoughts No we just have brains. Republican ideals are closer to conservative principles and Christianity than Democrats who embrace socialistic principles that have always failed and create division, hate, and ignorance.
@DillonDee1 That's a bunch of baloney. Harry Reid is a "mormon' too but sure doesn't act like one. The church does not dictate political policies and does not get involved in politics at all unless there is a proposed law that would violate either the Constitution or the values and morals of Christianity and the traditional family unit of one husband, one wife. Members do and say as they please just like any other church or organization.
I see all these comments from people who obviously dont know what they are talking about... I am 16 years old and have been LDS (mormon) for almost all my life. Although im only young and dont have as strong of a testimony as some others, i know that this church is true! There is nothing "BAD" about mormons in fact, most mormons are goody-two-shoes, like straight "A's" year round, bi-lingual, and play at least one instument.
Satan has been almost successful in destroying the 10 commandments. Many religious leaders say o that commandment does not mean that, or that commandment was done away. Each with their own excuse. But when it all said and done, Jesus declares it is done, let him that is righteous be righteous still and he that is filthy be filthy still. God's wrath commences in the form of 7 devastating plagues. Then they will know truth, but to late! Study the Bible for yourself! Escape the wrath to come.
The world is coming to an end, everyone an see that. Only those who are diligent students of the Bible will see the great errors proposed by the enemy of souls. Satan as an angel of light has come to men in the form of different religions. This so called angel of light Satan has been very successful in his deceptions with man. Read the Bible and follow it as it reads. God created the earth in 6 days He rested on the 7th day he blessed it and sanctified it. Who Honors this command?
@ApolloKnowsAll And if a white guy walked into an all black church it would be at the very least awkward and uncomfortable. Black like their own little cliques and culture just like any other group., and are just as exclusive and racist at times as any other people. I've seen and been through it. No one is perfect or without some degree of guilt on either side. Isn't it time to drop the race card and start being united as Americans.
Ok folks, election year, you will see race injected into the mix cause the current president will try anything to remain in office. On the other hand, religious association will also come into the mix.
The problem I have is I despise both sides and really do not want to vote for either party. Both sides, equally bad.
I do not belong to or support any political parties, they're all corrupt, they truly have no desires to represent the citizens of this nation of ours.
Evangelicals are.so brain washed they couldn't see the end of their nose despite their own face, wow! Hitler's wet dream come true. I find the evangalicals intolerant of others and often misinterpret the bible or do not think for themselves. These people are not what u call thinking Christians. Now thre are those few Christians who actually use their thought process and use common sense.
The narrator sounds like a typical biased, left winger. Do not agree with Mormonism. This piece is politically motivated by those in favor of continued prejudice toward others whom they disagree with. U truly need to examine our current president, he really did not do much about race relations. He is divisive. Examine his so called speeches, We as a nation must be impartial when it comes to various hot topic issues. Not saying u should agree either.
and other unproven (in fact, archaeologically speaking, disproved) crap that mormonism spews. Either Romney hasn't examined his cult carefully, or he has and doesn't seem to care. One says poor judgment; the other stupidity. Neither are attractive qualities in a president, and neither are conservative qualities.
book called "one nation under gods", is highly recommended to anyone who is interested in an unbiased history and biblical examination of what mormonism really is all about
@guylstephenson A guy who doesn't understand the difference between "you're" and "your" probably should refrain from lecturing the world on who's ignorant and who's not.
If coherence is an issue with you, I could tutor you on basic English skills. I used to do that for money when I was in university for my undergrad. My forte was physics and calculus but since we're talking elementary English here, I'm pretty sure I could handle it.
No, Mittens' problem is that he's a mormon, period. That's why, beyond his leftist views (which is why conservatives won't vote for him), 'Evangelicals', as you call them, won't vote for him either. I'd sooner have an atheist for president - as all the democrat presidents have been for decades now - than someone who believes in holy underwear, priests fondling children through a curtain, nephi, moroni, Jesus planning a day trip to America ('cause who wouldn't want to see Hollywood, right?)
@Loonieburger2 Oh for heaven's sake, what a thing to say! I'm a convert to the Mormon church and what you are saying is SOOOO untrue! I've been a member for over 30 years. I read all this anti-Mormon stuff and things about "magic underwear", etc. years ago when I was first investigating the church. I took the time to learn the truth. Iknow there are things written and said about Mormons that are taken out of context, distorted, and just plain false. If I believed half the stuff I've seen online
@Loonieburger2 about Mormons, I'd think they were nuts! I'm glad I know the true gospel and understand the church. Take the "holy underwear", for instance. I've explained this numerous times online, but have you seen what I wrote? No. Okay, I'll explain ONCE AGAIN. You know how in other churches, the clergy are paid? They wear their robes and garments to show who they are, the covenenats they make with the Lord, etc. These men and women are paid to do their jobs so they wear their appropriate
@Loonieburger2 attire. In the LDS church, we have a lay clergy. People are not paid in the individual chapels. The Bishop of a congregation may also be the local car mechanic or dentist! (And in my congregation we've had both!). Other people have "callings" to fulfill various positions in the church as well. All Mormons who meet certain requirements (to attend the Temple, etc.) wear their garments underneath their street clothes, because of this lay clergy where members are not paid for what
@Loonieburger2 they do. It's just a symbol of our covenants with the the Lord, a reminder of who we are, so to speak. It's very simple. And the garments are unassuming white tops and shorts, no big deal. I will admit that when I first heard about these when I was investigating the Church, I was surprised. I had grown up Episcopalian and we sure never wore anything like this! The clergy wore elaborate robes and such but not members! And I had dressed in short shorts, halter tops, etc. and never
@Loonieburger2 thought a thing of it! But in the LDS church, if you are wearing these undergarments, you have to dress somewhat modestly in order to cover them--which means nothing sleeveless, no tank tops or halters, and no shorts. For example, women would wear a short-sleeve t-shirt and culottes or capris in the summer, but not sundresses or shorts. But anyway, there is no secret or weirdness about this at all, and it's just a symbol of who we are, a reminder of our convenants.
@Loonieburger2 Pathetic and shameful. You're ignorance and disrespect are astounding and the very reason Obama is in office. You say you'd rather have an athiest in office.... you got it. A socialist, anti-,American treasonous fraud. Hope you're life is better for it. America certainly isn't.
@guylstephenson I object! I am not ignorance and disrespect are astounding...
But just to clarify, I am life is not better for having a socialist anti-,American treasonous fraud. Maybe that's because I don't know what an ',American' is.
Poor grammar aside, you can claim disrespect, but not ignorance. Cindybin2001 can lie all she wants about the mormon cult - I've taught an apologetics course, have several mormon friends, and know how to read. I know whereof I speak. If you're a mormon
@guylstephenson yourself and feeling a little marginalised, then I can empathise. What I cannot do is divorce myself of reason and intellect in order to make you feel more comfortable with your ignorance of this cult. The 'holy underwear' is not as innocuous as cindybin makes it out to be - it's just that the truth is much more embarrassing to her. Anyway, I know where your vote's going. Enjoy splitting the vote or ending up with a Romeny RINO. Sounds like he's your president. I live in Canada.
I can't understand why a Black person would join the Mormon faith. Mormons have the right to believe as they will, but I suppose Blacks have a right to be mentally enslaved.
@hammerogod - Those who are "sign seekers" never have the faith sufficient to warrant further spiritual instruction from God because they require physical, worldly proof of every little tidbit they are fed. They stunt and hinder themselves from receiving more spiritual knowledge because they trust more in man's explanations than in God's.
@hammerogod - clearly, you have NO idea what the role of a prophet entails. The Bible only shows small snippets of some of the more impressive parts of their ministries, not all of what they are called to do. Only a handful of times is prophecy used to point out temporal facts. The greater portion of the time it is meant as spiritual guidance for the believers of their time
Explain me this - there are over 1 million black members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and those numbers continue to grow every year. How can you explain that? And don't just say they are all ignorant because they are NOT.
You propagandist! At that time blacks were considered "second class citizens (your words not mine)" everywhere. The church evolved well before the full civil rights movement won their battle. This is a doctrinal issue.
Very good video. I always new the Church had a ban, but I didn't realize how it impacted the daily life of black church members. It does reflect badly on Romney if he actively participated in this.
@HyrbidHermit Don't believe this crap... it's a fanciful fable created by ignorant and disrespectful people who have no clue what they're talking about. Want to know what Mormons believe? Ask a Mormon. I certainly wouldn't learn about Baptists by asking Catholics.
Um. "that man" (Gordon B. Hinkley) He isn't our prophet anymore. He died a few years ago. And did I hear you say "One and ONLY Prophet"? Before President Hinkley was our prophet, there were many, many more. Like Joseph Smith. Whoever made this video isn't good at their research I see.
@supersticky87 Get over it already. Mormons believe in and worship Jesus Christ and God the Father, and no one else. What do you believe in? In my book, that makes me a Christian pure and simple.
Ok there is WAY too much generalization on here. I was raised Mormon but I disagree with a lot of the religion so I left. I can see this argument from both sides.
Here's the thing-not all Mormons are racist. The religion they follow did have a racist history and the leaders today may or may not still feel the same. Racism, religion, politics, whatever. That's a PERSONAL decision.
By definiton, Mormons are Christian. The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints. It's in the name folks.
Mormons weren't the only ones who were segregated at the time. It doesn't make it right, but that was the stigma for the time. The LDS Church is notorious for prejudice behavior not only based on skin color alone, but for who you choose to spend your life with-homosxuality. This focus is narrowed too much on race. There's so much dirty laundry that isn't being aired here. 8:The Mormon Proposition. Watch it. You will be enlighthened. Made by a homosexual ex-Mormon.
@sierranicole217 God's law is law, and is not Mormon law or Christian law or Islamic law or Jewish law. God says homosexuality is wrong and depraved, immoral, unnatural, and a sin in his eyes. That's God's word, not mine. I suppose you're greater than God and know more. If so, go create a Universe and then we'll talk. Morality has nothing to do with religion or race.
@guylstephenson Did God say that, or John, Paul, and the other disciples? I never supposed to being greater. It seems like you're the one with a God complex here, oh Christian Crusader. Judge not others. Golden rule. Did Christ judge Mary Magdelene? Did he shun lepers? No. And the God that I believe in would not shun or judge anyone for loving another person how they will. And why does anyone care what they do in the bedroom? It's their own judgement that they'll deal with.

@bolan1109011090 A few differences differences between Christianity and Mormonism: 1). Whether there are other Gods 2) Baptism of the dead 3) Role of good works in salvation 4) Whether Christ Died for all sins 5) What is taught about what happens after death 6) The definition of the Trinity 7) Man can become a God 8) human pre-existence as spirits 9) Skin colour a factor 10) Melchizedek priesthood is unique to Christ. There are a few more of course but I'm running out of space.
@atdd22 The definition of a Christian is a follower of chirst, someone who beleives that Jesus himself died on the cross for your sins... This is what we beleive and what we are taught... Its even in the Book of Mormon that Jesus died for us, in order to save us. Disproving points: 1( We beleive that Jesus, as well as God, are Gods. 4(Christ DID die for our sins. 9( Skin color is no longer a factor. Running out of room...
@bolan1109011090 Proof that Mormons are not Christian? The mormon Jesus was the spirit brother of lucifer, "in context, lucifer is a Babylonian king". The Father became a God somewhere in the kolob system? That is not Christian. That's evolution in Neverland.
What is your problem with mormons.... If you dont remember LDS churchs had helpped to Haiti and other disasters if you dont remember they were the first ones to help when nobody did.. mormons are not racist anyone can enter if they want to and if they accept to god they are welcome ... mitt doesnt have to say bye to LDS cause Mormons ARE CHRISTIANS we believe in God & in the truth!
@awolLDSasap Robert E. Lee was opposed to slavery and would abolish it if he could, but he was the Commander-in-Chief of the Confederate Army. You obviously don't know what the civil was was really about. Slavery was only a side-problem. The real issue was States' Rights, which would prevent monolithic government from taking over...
@masterskyrunner Brigham would have fit right in, "states rights" but he had another problem that kept Utah from statehood, "polygamist adultery". I think Brigham had a mental disorder. He was OCD,,, obsessive compulsive collecting over 50 wives. Later in life he got really fat and stayed hidden indoors. Was the OCD compounded with agoraphobia?
@awolLDSasap More like the Union army seeing how the north was more racist and the South actually had rich black people and black leaders, get your history right.
Because I thought I'd delivered some smooth lines in the Texas dance halls, but this smooth-talker convinced young girls in their early teens to come be his wife & have sex with him even though he had other wives because they could be with him in Heaven when he got his own planet to rule!
Mitt Romney's Mormon "problem" isn't any different from Harry Reid's Mormon "problem" - and that fact doesn't seem to be altering Mr. Reid's ability to advance his poltitical ideology.

DillonDee1 2 weeks ago
@-Joseph Smith sent campaign managers to the different states & was so certain of winning the Presidency he even sent ambassadors to different countries. But he was assassinated & Mormons wept. Now 150 yrs later the Mormon dream is about to come true in the form of Mitt!
Smith had 2 great Apostles -Brigham Young (56 wives) & Parley Pratt (only 12 wives because the husband of 1 wife killed him). Romney is a direct descendent of Parley Pratt who believed blacks were “cursed” & inferior humans
DillonDee1 2 weeks ago
@- Mormons believe in having multiple wives b/c they believe Jesus had 3 wives & convinced married gals to marry them b/c it’d be a special “celestial wedding” which meant they & their kin would have a special place in Heaven
Parley Pratt's son Helaman Platt (4 wives) fled to Mexico after getting out of the pen. Miles Romney (5+ wives) lost his US citizenship rights to vote or serve on a jury, jumped bail & also sought sanctuary & citizenship in Mexico so he could continue to practice polygamy
DillonDee1 2 weeks ago
@- Pratt's daughter Anna m. Miles Romney’s son Gaskell in Chihuahua, Mex & they had a son George Romney & though they’d lived in Mexico for years & set up schools & houses, a revolution caused these Mexican citizens to sneak over the USA border into Tx.
George Romney was 5 when he came to the USA as an illegal alien but was still allowed to go on public welfare & to Tx schools at taxpayers expense. B/C Mitt’s dad was an illegal, Mitt will never take tough actions against illegal immigrants

Anyone with real intellect will ask themselves, why are people so ready to spew venom over a religion that does so much good. Christ taught "by their fruits ye shall know them." An individual with a pure heart and desire for unadulterated truth will seek to learn the truth directly from the source, not from pathetic videos like this.
guylstephenson 1 month ago
@guylstephenson Mormon bashing? Joseph Smith committed adultery, lied about it and it led to his downfall. There are many lingering fruits of Josephs church. Polygamist groups, Mountain Meadows and racism are just a few out of many. These are the fruits of Mormonism.

@awolLDSasap Nice try but doesn't fly. You're showing your ignorance as much as some of the others. It's painful and I feel sad for you. guylstephenson 1 month ago

W.W. Phelps, in 1861, recorded that Smith received a revelation in Missouri on July 17, 1831, that directed Mormon men to intermarry with "Lamanite" (Native American) women. Smith and Sidney Rigdon, while staying with the Johnson family, were dragged from their beds in the middle of the night and tarred and feathered.

Satan has been almost successful in destroying the 10 commandments. Many religious leaders say o that commandment does not mean that, or that commandment was done away. Each with their own excuse. rltroup33 1 month ago
@Loonieburger2 That was not the most intelligent or coherent statement I've ever heard. You're ignorance on the subject astounds me.
guylstephenson 1 month ago

@Loonieburger2 i totally agree with you i really hope the united states never allows such a cult believer to lead there country

@melglen1 Ahahahahaha......you don't even know the meaning of a cult. Look it up! lol

If I believed half the stuff I've seen online
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@Loonieburger2 about Mormons, I'd think they were nuts! I'm glad I know the true gospel and understand the church. Take the "holy underwear", for instance. I've explained this numerous times online, but have you seen what I wrote? No. Okay, I'll explain ONCE AGAIN. You know how in other churches, the clergy are paid? They wear their robes and garments to show who they are, the covenenats they make with the Lord, etc. These men and women are paid to do their jobs so they wear their appropriate
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@Loonieburger2 attire. In the LDS church, we have a lay clergy. People are not paid in the individual chapels. The Bishop of a congregation may also be the local car mechanic or dentist! (And in my congregation we've had both!). Other people have "callings" to fulfill various positions in the church as well. All Mormons who meet certain requirements (to attend the Temple, etc.) wear their garments underneath their street clothes, because of this lay clergy where members are not paid for what
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@Loonieburger2 they do. It's just a symbol of our covenants with the the Lord, a reminder of who we are, so to speak. It's very simple. And the garments are unassuming white tops and shorts, no big deal. I will admit that when I first heard about these when I was investigating the Church, I was surprised. I had grown up Episcopalian and we sure never wore anything like this! The clergy wore elaborate robes and such but not members! And I had dressed in short shorts, halter tops, etc. and never
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@Loonieburger2 thought a thing of it! But in the LDS church, if you are wearing these undergarments, you have to dress somewhat modestly in order to cover them--which means nothing sleeveless, no tank tops or halters, and no shorts. For example, women would wear a short-sleeve t-shirt and culottes or capris in the summer, but not sundresses or shorts. But anyway, there is no secret or weirdness about this at all, and it's just a symbol of who we are, a reminder of our convenants.
cindybin2001 1 month ago
@Loonieburger2 Pathetic and shameful. You're ignorance and disrespect are astounding and the very reason Obama is in office. You say you'd rather have an athiest in office.... you got it. A socialist, anti-,American treasonous fraud. Hope you're life is better for it. America certainly isn't.
guylstephenson 1 month ago
@guylstephenson I object! I am not ignorance and disrespect are astounding...
But just to clarify, I am life is not better for having a socialist anti-,American treasonous fraud. Maybe that's because I don't know what an ',American' is.
Poor grammar aside, you can claim disrespect, but not ignorance. Cindybin2001 can lie all she wants about the mormon cult - I've taught an apologetics course, have several mormon friends, and know how to read. I know whereof I speak. If you're a mormon
Loonieburger2 4 weeks ago 3

MrApollonox 1 month ago
@hammerogod - clearly, you have NO idea what the role of a prophet entails. The Bible only shows small snippets of some of the more impressive parts of their ministries, not all of what they are called to do. Only a handful of times is prophecy used to point out temporal facts. The greater portion of the time it is meant as spiritual guidance for the believers of their time
MrApollonox 1 month ago
Explain me this - there are over 1 million black members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and those numbers continue to grow every year. How can you explain that? And don't just say they are all ignorant because they are NOT.
godsavetheusa2012 1 month ago
You propagandist! At that time blacks were considered "second class citizens (your words not mine)" everywhere. The church evolved well before the full civil rights movement won their battle. This is a doctrinal issue.
godsavetheusa2012 1 month ago
Very good video. I always new the Church had a ban, but I didn't realize how it impacted the daily life of black church members. It does reflect badly on Romney if he actively participated in this.
HyrbidHermit 1 month ago
@HyrbidHermit Don't believe this crap... it's a fanciful fable created by ignorant and disrespectful people who have no clue what they're talking about. Want to know what Mormons believe? Ask a Mormon. I certainly wouldn't learn about Baptists by asking Catholics.
guylstephenson 1 month ago
Um. "that man" (Gordon B. Hinkley) He isn't our prophet anymore. He died a few years ago. And did I hear you say "One and ONLY Prophet"? Before President Hinkley was our prophet, there were many, many more. Like Joseph Smith. Whoever made this video isn't good at their research I see.

supersticky87 1 month ago
@supersticky87 Get over it already. Mormons believe in and worship Jesus Christ and God the Father, and no one else. What do you believe in? In my book, that makes me a Christian pure and simple.
guylstephenson 1 month ago
Ok there is WAY too much generalization on here. I was raised Mormon but I disagree with a lot of the religion so I left. I can see this argument from both sides.
Here's the thing-not all Mormons are racist. The religion they follow did have a racist history and the leaders today may or may not still feel the same. Racism, religion, politics, whatever. That's a PERSONAL decision.
By definiton, Mormons are Christian. The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints. It's in the name folks.
sierranicole217 1 month ago
Mormons weren't the only ones who were segregated at the time. It doesn't make it right, but that was the stigma for the time. The LDS Church is notorious for prejudice behavior not only based on skin color alone, but for who you choose to spend your life with-homosxuality. This focus is narrowed too much on race. There's so much dirty laundry that isn't being aired here. 8:The Mormon Proposition. Watch it. You will be enlighthened. Made by a homosexual ex-Mormon.
sierranicole217 1 month ago
@sierranicole217 God's law is law, and is not Mormon law or Christian law or Islamic law or Jewish law. God says homosexuality is wrong and depraved, immoral, unnatural, and a sin in his eyes. That's God's word, not mine. I suppose you're greater than God and know more. If so, go create a Universe and then we'll talk. Morality has nothing to do with religion or race.
guylstephenson 1 month ago
@guylstephenson Did God say that, or John, Paul, and the other disciples? I never supposed to being greater. It seems like you're the one with a God complex here, oh Christian Crusader. Judge not others. Golden rule. Did Christ judge Mary Magdelene? Did he shun lepers? No. And the God that I believe in would not shun or judge anyone for loving another person how they will. And why does anyone care what they do in the bedroom? It's their own judgement that they'll deal with.

bolan1109011090 1 month ago
@bolan1109011090 A few differences differences between Christianity and Mormonism: 1). Whether there are other Gods 2) Baptism of the dead 3) Role of good works in salvation 4) Whether Christ Died for all sins 5) What is taught about what happens after death 6) The definition of the Trinity 7) Man can become a God 8) human pre-existence as spirits 9) Skin colour a factor 10) Melchizedek priesthood is unique to Christ. There are a few more of course but I'm running out of space.
atdd22 1 month ago

That's evolution in Neverland.

awolLDSasap 1 month ago 5
@awolLDSasap Robert E. Lee was opposed to slavery and would abolish it if he could, but he was the Commander-in-Chief of the Confederate Army. You obviously don't know what the civil was was really about. Slavery was only a side-problem. The real issue was States' Rights, which would prevent monolithic government from taking over...
masterskyrunner 1 month ago
@masterskyrunner Brigham would have fit right in, "states rights" but he had another problem that kept Utah from statehood, "polygamist adultery". I think Brigham had a mental disorder. He was OCD,,, obsessive compulsive collecting over 50 wives. Later in life he got really fat and stayed hidden indoors. Was the OCD compounded with agoraphobia?

I wish I'd met this Joseph Smith.
Because I thought I'd delivered some smooth lines in the Texas dance halls, but this smooth-talker convinced young girls in their early teens to come be his wife & have sex with him even though he had other wives because they could be with him in Heaven when he got his own planet to rule!
The guy was good -- HE WAS DAMN GOOD!
