I saw this show when I was a kid-wow! To see Janis on tv, at that time, was amazing. To see Swanson, was double wow! Both of these ladies, and they were ladies, were bigger than life, and real. We have, thanks to all the PC, nothing this original or authentic.
Seeing flashy, glamorous, fun, people like these 2 ladies makes me feel like I've lived a sheltered, dreary existence so far. I agree with Gloria's view on romance, marriage & children. =:)

Not only was she classy, but even at an older age notice how she has a very sweet, "young" voice. Close your eyes and she sounds the age of a woman not older than her late 20s.
I have such a low opinion of Dick Cavett. Such a poor interviewer. He kissed Katharine Hepburn's ass and other stars but when a lovely woman like Gloria Swanson comes on he treats her like crap. Very unprofessional. I've seen other interviews with him; he comes across to me as being arrogant and for some bizarre reason he thinks he is some kind of comedian.

Cavettbiter I don't see it as her "bitching", she seemed a romantic who after five marriages is talking about her experiences in love. Too bad, she seemed like a wonderful woman and sun set boulevard does not do justice for her great looks, considered she was 70 or 71 in this clip. and I do not see the shiney forehead that is indicative of a face lift so I am assuming she lived well!

Wow Gloria Swanson sure had a great surgeon - she looked fantastic - but the most amazing thing about her are her eyes - just captivating and very blue. Sunset Blvd is in Black and White and of course all the silents were so it's great to see her in colour.

Not only was she classy, but even at an older age notice how she has a very sweet, "young" voice. Close your eyes and she sounds the age of a woman not older than her late 20s.

I have such a low opinion of Dick Cavett. Such a poor interviewer. He kissed Katharine Hepburn's ass and other stars but when a lovely woman like Gloria Swanson comes on he treats her like crap. Very unprofessional. I've seen other interviews with him; he comes across to me as being arrogant and for some bizarre reason he thinks he is some kind of comedian.

In my opinion dear, you can't compare a singer to an actress (unless they are a triple threat). But comparing the two is quite silly. Gloria was a cinema queen and Joplin was a rock diva, got it!

WHat a lovely lady, the epitome of class. Really sharp too- seems her ideas and thoughts were never dated- perhaps because the twenties were so mad anyway!
Great lady, great actress. Stars of her character are in short supply now...if they even exist...

Gloria is one rare treat! A great Star from the Silent era that went into the "talkies" She also made a fun appearance on " the Beverly Hillbillies" She really was a true giant. Janis Joplin was a goos singer but showed lack of taste in this show. It's liek speaking to your mother or grand mother in that way. Just rude and not funny. Keep that humor for ppl your own age and not make a joke out of someone who is way older.

Ms. Swanson had beautiful skin and gorgeous legs. I know that she was something of a health fanatic--but with great results.
I think it's great to see three generations of people talking on stage here.
Janis' "head" comment was clearly understood by Cavett --but Ms. Swanson, although she gracefully ignored it, did too.
