I love this song! I have sang this for many things. It is nice to her someone else that was my age doing this! Man I was born in the WRONG time! Go watch my video doing this.
I thought I recognized the man who plays "Sam," and sure enough, he played one of the cowboys in "The Harvey Girls" in 1945. He's the one to standing Judy Garland's left as she steps off the train. Even though it was a bit part, I liked him in it, as I like him in this clip. And Janie is delightful, as always.
Jane's performance is great but the original was by Jeanette Macdonad in "Naughty Marietta.... Italian Street Song" (Youtube search between the "s). Her song starts around 2:30, the foreplay sets the scene. It 's worth view, promise.
a true coloratura soprano of the first degree!!! You'll never hear someone like her from the garbage of performers we have today... singing has changed so much that it has become mediocre... these were the days when singers were singers!!! Thanks for posting!
How true. Truly this is the age of mediocrity where profanity and vulgarity have taken over society giving rise to drugs, crime and a sordid scenario, reflecting the decline of the American West. The Music of the Masters that inspired film attendees is lost to this generation
@canadianclarke lol true, my mistake...but they do look alike. I was going through this phase a couple years ago where I was obsessed with Hayden Panettiere (big Heroes fan here) and I got a set of old movies as a birthday gift. One was a Jane Powell movie and when she came on screen I thought maybe I was just imagining the resemblance because I was so obsessed with Hayden. But I see I'm not the only one who thinks so :)

@AnoukRocher92 This is from "Holiday in Mexico," from 1946! Jane was around 15-16 years old then.

Thank you so much! As for performer's of today, many would be lost without the mike stapled onto their head and cheek!

Where exactly should NaPPoli be?
Very fine but I would prefer if light sopranos wouldn't harass parrots!
