Nope sir... it's not a distortion switch. It is the switch between the piezo and magnetic pickups. Piezo pickups make that natural acoustic sound (you just connect it to the PA system or an acoustic combo) and with the flick of the small switch, it changes the output to the magnetic ones (there is two holes for instrument cable in the guitar) which sends the signal to your amp and if you use distortion channel in your amp, you get the distortion sound.
