However, I would point out that the hardcore bands of the early 80's were not trying to have an "image." They were simply dressing the way they always had; something that can certainly not be said of MCR. I, and many others, honestly love the way bands like Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat and Fugazi sound and I especially love their lyrics. To say that it is "NOT quality music" is your opinion but I disagree. Furthermore, your assertion that My Chemical Romance is somehow superior to hardcore bands because "at least they can play their instruments" is down right absurd for 2 reasons:
1 It presumes that being able to play your instrument well is needed be a good band. The opposite, in fact, is usually true. The Ramones barely knew how to play their instruments but had far superior songs than Journey (who had technically "superb" musicians and a singer with great vocal range). Why? Because rock n roll (and yes whether it's hardcore or punk or metal or whatever, it's all rock at it's base) IS NOT about being talented at an instrument. It's about passion, rebellion and youth.
2 Sorry dude but MCR aren't any better at their instruments than hardcore bands anyway! Seriously dude, I listened to your little vid and, frankly, it's simple, distorted, chord progressions.
