  • i love her face at 2:12

  • One of the few cases where the band is just as good if not much better live than they are recorded

  • She's cute.

  • only one word: formidable!

  • HOLY FUCKCKCKCKCKCKCSDHOUZKVLAOU8DKYCGLEFKSYZCULUADIOS:ZÇÂÁD

  • the things you can do with feedback and 2 boss dd's

  • camera work/editing is horrible. great band

  • wonderful

  • okmaybe i was a bit extreme but you can definately hear the pumpkins influences in there, i just dont get the arcade fire comparison at all

  • FIXED GEAR BIKES ARE FUCKING GAY

  • I don't see how a person could have it in them to perform a show like that more than twice a year.

  • What is up with all these Indie Rock bands lately? They all seem to be trying to rip off Arcade Fire's sound. The point of Indie or "Alternative" Rock is to come up with something uniquely you. Something that sets you apart from the rest. The Joy Formidable are good, but they sound like a clone of Arcade Fire to me. A lot of Indie Rock bands today seem to be clones of Arcade Fire to my ears.

  • @TwistedSpeech arcade fire? call them a female lead smashing pumpkins but they do not sound like arcade fire

  • @greenmachine72 They sound nothing like the Smashing Pumpkins. I grew up with that band. They sound like an Arcade Fire clone, nothing more.

  • @greenmachine72 dude definately not a female fronted smashing pumpkins dno how you came up with that thought to be honest

  • @TwistedSpeech What? lol, they sound nothing like Acade Fire. In what way do you think so. Arcade Fire doesn't use theatrics, they have a male singer, and they usually have guitar, drums, bass guitar, piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, French horn, accordion, harp, mandolin, and hurdy-gurdy. Joy Formidable has 3 Pcs and theatrics

  • @ososuperpowers Arcade Fire uses an overabundance of reverb, so does Joy Formidable. Arcade Fire does have a female who sings lead on some tracks. The sound is raucous and chaotic, just like Arcade Fire's sound, so yeah they're a shrunk down version of Arcade Fire.

  • @TwistedSpeech I couldn't imagine a band sounding LESS like Arcade Fire than Joy Formidable... have you even listened to Arcade Fire?

  • @mrkrono Yes, and with a comment like yours you obviously haven't.

  • @TwistedSpeech Why don't you go ahead and tell me what the number 5 most listened to band is and what the number 30 most listened to band is from my Last.fm account? My username is mrkrono. I'll save you the trip: 670 listens for Arcade Fire and 208 for Joy Formidable. I know both of these bands. They are not alike.

  • Her stare is so cute/creepy. Never knew that was possibly.

  • i think this band has the best vibe between each other on stage out of any band i've ever seen.

  • @xlrious1 Yeah, you can tell that they're all really good friends. I dunno about the drummer, but Ritzy and Rhydian (singer/guitarist and bassist) have been in bands together for a long time.

  • Saw them in Colorado Springs with my daughter. One of the best shows I've seen in my 50 years on earth.

  • too bad the drummer doesn't have any knobs to play with at the end...

  • 2 thoughts. Hook-esque Lead bassist,and Dinner plate pupils.

  • 8:11 What the heck, clap, scream, are you even living?

  • Most of those people have no idea what the fuck they just witnessed. If that didn't wake them up, they'll be asleep forever.

  • I've seen them 5 times so proud, Leeds always attracts the best live bands!

  • HOLY SMOKES jizzz in my pants , first time i hear em

  • She's got that crazed look in her eyes. Ha sounds good for a live set tho!

  • shes on a lot of drugs

  • This is 9 minutes of ripping your face off. Long live rock and roll.

  • What an odd group but they make great music :D

  • Way to make the last song last - kind of reminds me of the open mic people with their "one song" - but the song is like 10 minutes. :)

  • she's beautiful .

  • My smile just kept getting bigger and bigger as the seconds rolled by. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Wow, that look at 1:21 is priceless. Genetics ain't fair - how is it that one person can be a talented guitarist & songwriter, sing great, and be so damned cute? See also Annie Clark of St Vincent.

  • "alright you guys, we're gonna do a show in a bike shop."

  • The Drummers face is priceless

  • 4rescue says women stop playing rock guitar!

    STOP!

    4rescue says STOP!

    You're done.

    Just don't keep going.

He hates to say it, but stop.

  • This performance reminds me of some Smashing Pumpkins performances I've seen, and I mean that in the best possible way.

  • @prtzlboy

  • @prtzlboy i dont see how that at all could be offensive

  • Im pretty sure I am in love

  • Veery nice!

  • Wow they went hard IN THE MUTHAFUCKIN PAINT!! (Not black btw)

  • @4rescue You have uttered misogynistic bulls**t.

  • OMG at 4:50, she is so HOT!

  • Hate to say it, but 99.9% of "Women rockers" have NO BUSINESS playing the guitar... She makes up some of that .01%... SHe fucking ROCKS. I love her style and her intensity when on stage... What a great band aye.

  • @4rescue Just, you know, a little bit sexist right there.

  • @Murrison nah, just stating facts... Still, SHE'S awesome.

  • double bass!

  • The good Music is Back !

  • 6min of jamming ;D amazing

  • DAT EYES

  • Fantastic performance! Nicely shot. Lame crowd response. Were those people even alive?

  • She looks a bit like Hazel O'connor in Breaking Glass....if anyone remembers that, lol

  • ça m'éclate que des gens clique "j'aime pas" ben si t'm pas, en général tu regardes pas ou tu regardes ce qui te plait? makes me smile people who cliq "don't like" usualy if you don't like something you're not gonna spend time watchin'

  • I can't decide whether her crazy eyes freak me out or entice me ... it's a very gray line.

  • @doskearn gray area or thin line? ;-) anyway, I definitely feel you there. whew.

  • The true spirit of music is when he music takes control of you. These guys let music give them PCP. XD awesome!!!

That's why I love her SO MUCH!!!

  • they played great at Madison Square Garden last nite. She threw her guitar at the amp. Is was so fucking sweet.

  • She played this song exactly like this in Atlanta. =)

  • The unconventional use of double kick, is a magnificent idea

  • I so fuckin' love this band! lml

  • that ending.....whoa! awesome chaos or something. i dont know how to describe it!

  • RItzy Bryan brings it, saw them at funfunfunfest, hands down one of the best sets of the weekend, the crowd was really in to them and she owned it!

  • Good stuff

  • Opened for Foo Fighters last night in Atlanta 11/7/11, Whirring live absolutly amazing!!

  • @Hummpy33 I agree man! They were my fave of the 2 opening bands last night at MSG! My reaction to Whirring was the same as Dave Grohls first time I heard it! Blew me away! Glad it did the same for Dave and influenced him to put them on tour with the Foos! TJF really do have a sound! I'm definately gonna keep an eye out for them. South Wales they are from!

  • @Hummpy33 boston too it was amazing

  • @Hummpy33 Man i wish i saw them!! I am from Atlanta but didnt hear about them until 2 days ago..I will see them soon tho..when it is meant to happen i have faith

  • Damn Ritzy can throw down.its been a while since a great thrash bands been out.love em

  • never seen a girls rock so hard

  • Love the circuit bending at the end.

  • Sounds familiar like I hear this on a surf vid from 2007..... Arcade Fire? ..... This band sounds like a uniquely current familiar sound is what I'm saying

  • so far the best of 2011, for me.

  • I usually hear christian music like hillsong and stuff, but ive always had a like for rock music like this. Sounds so fresh

  • This song is Allegra

  • Ritzy Bryan is the best

  • Wow! This video just changed my perception of this band. I can see now why Dave Grohl invited them out on tour. Can't wait to see this live Nov. 7! Keeping rock alive... I love it!

  • They're fucking nuts!!! I love IT!!!!!

  • that drummer is beast.

  • I like the live version better than the recorded one

  • @Taco1011 Every live video I've seen of them is better than their recorded stuff. I first saw them on Letterman a couple weeks ago. I was blown away. Such a breath of fresh ROCKING air for music these days.

  • @mflorida That is very well put my friend!

  • Ritzy Bryan is kinda like the girl version of Kurt Cobain in ways.

  • the best part was at 8:58

  • @SPOOKSTR great joke bro, i bet you like all the best music.

  • woah dude that toilet paper taped to the fan they call "effect" at 5:10 blew my mind.. -_-

  • @iforgotmypen why cause she acts eccentric? I can tell you right now she's definitely not stoned.

  • @rakuencallisto no because her pupils are huge!

  • Utter insanity...and I f'n love it!!! The most intense, down-to-earth band in quite a while. KEEP IT COMING!!!

  • I look forward to seeing Joy Fomidable for the first time in November when they open for Social D and the FooFighters in Philly. Thanks for posting.

  • That was a perfect display of the spirit of music, amazing!

  • what just happened...

  • how could anyone dislike this?

I mean really, if you dislike this, you literally have the shittiest sense of musical talent ever.

    You belong with Lady Gaga.

  • Just got back from their show here in Columbus, OH. Girlfriend talked me into it, but I actually ended up having a good time.

  • lot of ugly old people in that audience

  • That audiencecsucked!!!

  • HOLY shit

  • they play like theyre posessed and truly enjoy making solid rock. Great job of bringing a metal percussionist guru like Matt Thomas to lead the solid tempo on what could be a super group of our time...very impressed

  • mind=blown

  • Now THAT is a F**K'n BAND!!!!!!!

  • OMG... AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • ширики

  • to many diss likes.

  • Catchy

  • @bastardscum420 can I be your friend pls

  • @ plebusmaximus ....my neighbors did!!

  • IMMENSE

  • song of the year. deadly.

  • JIZZZZ IN MY PANTSS!!!!!!!

  • so much of pj harvey in her voice and god i like that

  • LOVE KEXP

  • 8 people are complete wankers.

  • THUMBS UP if you heard of this song/band because of the UK show "Sirens" lol

  • Previous to being in The Joy Formidable, the drummer was a vampire. See 0:31 - 0:38.

  • @Sub7 Aka black clothing? Okay.....

  • She has immaculate eyes.

  • Would of loved this band to bits but it has one of my most major issues in it. Whats up with bass musicians that want to dress like they want to be in flippin U2.. seriously

  • I love the ad-lib that goes on from about 0:00 to 09:00

Fuck me, this band is amazing.

  • My five year old daughter was dancing her ass off to this song in the kitchen this morning. How cool is that? Man, I boogied too! Great band. And, as one comment below noted, she does put a lot of male frontmen to shame. She's got it.

  • Good stuff. The freestyle jamming in the middle reminds me of the Smashing Pumpkins...

  • Her voice, I am in love with it.

  • Cannot believe what she does at the end with her guitar, the distortion pedals and the amp...she is the female kevin shields!!!

  • fuck yeahhhhhh

  • bands feed from audience vibe, what a bunch of tomatoes

  • @nuclearnuggets Yea but when a band has a lot of heart(like this one) it doesn't matter..they still rock out!! :)

  • @nuclearnuggets I mean really, what a boring fucking crowd.

  • @nuclearnuggets I couldn't agree with you more. The crowd was far too lame.

  • @nuclearnuggets what vampires u mean? what wrong, dont they have their own vibe? that wot u mean?

  • She puts male frontmen to shame. Her performance, her voice and her skill with her instrument are absolutely fucking amazing. The fact that these guys just get up there and have FUN playing speaks volumes about who they are as people, too. I fucking love this band.

  • FUCK YESSSSSS that was awsome!!!!!! my friend told me to check this out and im glad i did. im so glad bands like this manchester orchestra, cage the elphant and new politics are making music not suck any more. finally we got rid of the all the emo bull shit and we ca rock again oh joy.

  • i just fall in love with her.....(what an audience...pffff)

  • I love the way she blows a kiss to the crowd as if to say, "Sorry/ Fuck off/ Thank you" all at the same time.
