  • Thanks so much JoyJigga! Thank you for not only fixing my issue, but also explaining why it was happening and what effect the feather feature has. Knowing why the issue is occurring in the first place is the most important part of learning the solution in my opinion.

  • @gazzajones Thanks for the comment! Glad I could help!

  • Thank you, I didn't know why it started to do that on it's own.

  • @MrHndrinkarim I second this post!

  • What about Ctrl+Click?

Feather is set to 0 px. When I hold down Control key and click to the layer I get this warning..

  • Very useful. Unfortunately I have the same problem using Magic Wand Tool, which does not have feather setting ( photoshop 7). Any idea what to do? The advice to uncheck 'Use video alpha' on Preference> Transparency& Gamut did not help. Thanks.

  • @death21121 Glad I could help!

  • Thank you so much! This just started happening and I couldn't figure out what happened. Like Gnarly, I changed the feathering and didn't realize that is what caused the problem. Amazing how the answer was found on Youtube and not Adobe website!

  • @davidcrdz1966 Yeah, it's one of those little things that adobe doesn't know about. Glad I could be of assistance!

  • Thanks for the help mate!

Spent half a day, wondering why my rectangular marquee tool keeps turning into an oval, until I saw your video

  • Man ive been living with that mistake for two weeks. Although Im sure the cat rolled across the keyboard...Thanks!!!

  • @lbleier Haha, no problem .

  • Thanks for your help! I changed the feathering in error and didn't realize this could be the affect! Problem solved thanks.

  • @GnarlyHuck No problem.

  • I had mine on 0 and i still get the error..

  • mmm.. I took it down to 0 and it still gives me the same message :\

  • Not to make you sound stupid, but did you hit enter after ... ? o.O

  • @JoyJigga

    of course

but Im working with a very small logo to begin with, maybe the size has to do with it?

  • @EliorFein It may be. I have never experienced making small logos with borders before.

  • @EliorFein You could actually drag the feather down to. Instead of typing and entering a number.

  • Thank you very much ... I had this problem many times and it just pissed me off everytime. Earlier I hadn't got a clue what was the reason of an error.

Thanx again ... and have a good day !

  • @JJJawor Glad it helped you! and Merry Christmas!

  • Thank you! Very helpful.
