you're great! So respectful and true to yourself and you're not making fun of religious people. Thanks for posting this video, truth is I don't know what to believe in anymore but now I am even more certain about having to be true to myself. Keep up the good work with posting really interesting videos!
Well dan I think that God let's all these things happen because he's testing your faith. Have you ever heard about the story of the end of the earth? Have you ever heard about Adam and Eve? If your christian than you know that Adam and Eve brought sin into the world. The world isin't meant to be perfect. God knows that the world is horrible but if your christian than you belive he's commoing back andwe'll al live with him.
@pogobat I do however respect what you said about not liking the idea of being completely dishonest to yourself. If you are going to worship got worship him sincerely or not at all. If you don't believe, I do hope you find the truth someday, but don't rush into something you don't understand, it can lead blasphemy. i'm a christian, I understand the teachings I've received but I dont think one should worship cause another said, understand the teachings first. After that, it's up to you.
@pogobat Dan. I think you're over looking one element that the bible acknowledges, Free will. God created the world to be perfect, He gave man free will, the ability to do whatever we please. The bible also speaks of the devil and his temptations. our free will mixed with these temptations cause us to sin, that's why we have an imperfect world. Life is about the decisions we make with the freedom of will, that is the element that judges us.
@pogobat God is a man, reason be is that god created man in his image, woman was created after man, god created woman out of man in order to be a companion to man. Read the bible, there is much more evidence of him being male, that's why we call him our heavenly father. if you cant read the bible and understand it, then don't talk about it, it makes you seem ignorant to those who do understand.
@Dale78ful There are so many different beliefs and so many different thoughts that someone being ignorant about something to do with Religion is almost inevitable. There is no proof that everything in the bible is true, just as there is no proof that there is no god.
@RJLupin6 there is proof, just ones non-believers refuse to objectify. You're right though, it is inevitable, after all, no man truly knows what's beyond the stars. It's just faith I guess.
im catholic and i like my religion. but the only problem i find with it is that we say our creator is perfect.if he is perfect we would be perfect beings on a perfect world living perfect lives were all is good
@geek2thextreme That's exactly how He originally created the universe. But, would He be a perfect God if He created us to be like robots, without the ability to choose to love Him and obey Him. Our relaionship with God is much like our relationship with our husband or wife. It is only truly perfect if we have chosen to love and honor that person till death do us part.
just a thought that I learned from a friend of mine that makes little sense and all the sense in the world.
If god is all powerful, then God could create a rock that he could not lift, but if he could not create that rock than he is not all powerful, and if he cannot lift that rock then he is not all powerful, thus, he is not perfect. Just something to think about. I'm a pagan and do not believe in a single god so, there you have it.
@witchcraft3328 Your friend is an idiot and that analogy is completely irrelevant. That's like saying "If God is all powerful, he can create a human more powerful than he is, and if he can't create him, than he's not all powerful, but if he could coud create him and not beat him, then he's not powerful". You can pretty much say that with anything, your friend is just playing with words.
@Ompmovies It is a powerful argument though, his friend is just being logical. The church portrays God as a being that can do everything. It is relevant because it presents a possibility if God is not what he's cracked up to be. Getting angry for someone using his brain is like getting angry at you for breathing. its normal to think, and its what religion sometimes restricts. thats why some people hate arguing with religious people. they don't want you to think, just follow blindly.
@Ompmovies Before you ask, why of all Dan's three God related videos I chose to comment on your comments more? its one of the most blind, biased comments in his video. Also you even get angry and call people idiots for thinking. Is that what christians like you said are supposed to do? get angry at people for thinking?
@Ompmovies uhh huh yeah my 131 IQ brain is limited for using logic. thanks for pointing that out. So what are you? a Westboro Baptist? an extreme right wing fundementalist? or some other hate group thats intolerant to every other freethinker? because all you ever said in the comments section is how everybody else that disagrees with religion is wrong.
Here's the other thing I find it intriguing you didn't mention. What about all the several polytheistic religions that remain, or were once considered valid and "died off" such as the Grecian gods? You seem very keen on only speaking about monotheistic religions in these videos, I was much hoping you would expand
@KoolThing14 He was raised in a church, so it makes sense his speech patterns when explaining things he talks a bit like a pastor. I was also raised in church, and tend to subscribe to their methods of getting points across. It's not a bad thing, pastors are very good at speaking, regardless of they're open-mindedness (or lack thereof)
Personally, I see no reason to believe in impossible things- I prefer to look at things logically and evaluate what I know and what I understand, but I respect people's belief.
Just a thought though- if there is no God, then how did the ideas for religion come about it the first place???
@QueenOfTheAubergines The illuminati made them up. They wrote the Bible. As a way to control humanity. And i would say it worked pretty damn well. They still control the world today. Theres a movie coming out called "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" Watch it.
I'm just saying, I don't think there can be a God. It defies everything we know about the world. I belive in the Big Bang Theory, because it seems the most logical. But every religion raises questions- If God created the world, who created God? If the Big Bang Theory is correct, then how did it start, and what was there before it?
Perhaps all religions are correct- if there is a God, it would seem right that He doesn't mind how people worship him, meaning that a religion that shows love etc...
You're a thinker. I don't agree with some of it, but I like your ideas. I like that you question everything, and I like that you're open to discuss it.
And about perfection: since the definition of perfection is "without flaw" and the definition of flaw is "the marring of perfection" neither one can exsist without the other, making both words essentially meaningless.
I know you probly don't read these any more since it was so long ago, but I just wanted to share.(:
Also Dan when it comes to the attributes of God you mentioned "all loving, all graceful, etc." you forgot one that most do and that is He is all JUST too. Meaning without His forgiveness and grace we stand guilty of our ill acts. How would you feel about a judge in our country that lets murders, rapist, child molesters go scott free because that judge loved them and wanted to be merciful and all kind to them? Would not be a very good judge would he.
Dan Brown God did create a "perfect" creation however we man kind alowd imperfection into the universe by way of the gift of free will and thus that imperfection festered and changed our universe.
Ok. This may have been covered before, but I want one of you out there in the comments to tell me the answer to this question. "If there is no God, how was the entire universe created." I want someone out there that does not believe in God to give me the answer to this question
@webbjsabrina i would agree with that. i just think we should acknowledge that while people use religion as an excuse/reason to perpetuate violence, it is not the sole cause for that violence, and i would argue that the oxymoron of "religious war" is a perversion of what was created to facilitate love and social harmony, the good things that religion also brings. there are two sides to every story.
@MagnificentMunchlax do some real research and you will find that more genocide was done from atheistic ideas. And if you say Hitler was a Christian then you know nothing but what some atheist told you about him. Read Meinkof and you will see that in actualality Hitler's views fell more in line with atheism/Darwinism than anything else.
@MagnificentMunchlax No men whi misuse religioun cause war. And like I said on here before do your own real research and you will find that most of histories genocide including the holochaust were waged and done by men that held more atheistic/darwinistic ideology. Read Meinkof like I have and you will see nothing of Christianity in there but ideology in line more with atheism.
What if "God" is an extraterrestrial being who lives in a world where creating a "universe" is no big deal. That would explain why God is "imperfect".
i personally am an atheist. as you stated, you can't pretend to believe in what you don't believe in. however i try to be open minded about it. i don't believe that God exists, but if i die and find out that i have made a horrible mistake and was completely wrong, then i would hope that i have lived my life in such a way that i would be welcomed into heaven... if i'm wrong. not all atheists say "THERE IS NO GOD!" and stop there. some of us have thought about the possibility that we may be wrong.
If you think about it, according to most people, all life as we know it was the result of an accident. So if life was an accident, then what's the real point of discussing whether or not God exists? If he does exist, I believe there's a reason to discuss this. I believe in God.
a bunch of Gods, or some other idea. For all we know, every religion known to man could be completely wrong and there could be something totally beyond any humans' belief. I completely agree with Dan when he says to be open minded, so people are just being stubborn trying to stick to one specific idea with no alterations whatsoever. Me being an Agnostic as well, I'm still trying to figure out what I believe in, all through being open minded.
Dan, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one out there that thinks of things like you do (not that it'd be hard to imagine, what with the giant population of this Earth.) I'd also like to say to everyone else here, it's really all about what you personally believe in through the knowledge you have or how you were raised. But honestly, with all of these religions in the world, how could anyone know WHAT to believe in? Every where I go I hear people telling me there is no God, one God, a bunc
Dan, you are very intelligent and I respect that but I read the Bible and God always speak about how imperfect the world is and He is always referred to as a "King". A king is a male so God is a male. I understand that many have different beliefs, (many in which are not Biblical but "made up") but the ideology of God was formed in the Bible. Go to the source of the belief and find out everything for yourself. Incorporate what you've read to the world we live in and you will find your answers.
i have a question to whoever does not believe in god !
if you see a product do you believe that it came out of a factory ? what about human? who created us? chemical reaction ??!! we human have a limit in strength, speed, vision and thinking ! etc.. think about pain. we human are weak! we are tooooo small ( GOD IS GREAT) i respect whoever believe in god (muslims christians and jews) they all believe in one god ! i believe in god and his prophets ! thnx to our god for everything
Dan... you're wrong dude, no one said God made the world perfect, rather they said God himself is perfect. So he didn't fail in making a perfect world, because he wasn't trying to, Nor is this God's idea of perfect, because this is simply our creation. So althought you said God failed, you're wrong, he suceeded in making humans in his likeness that have their own free will to make choices. Earth isn't supposed to be heaven Dan, heaven is.
@Majicjj I get your point but read Genesis again. When it says "God made_____ and saw that it was good...". You see when the KJV was translated it was understood that "good" meant perfect. In todays language everytime you see "good" in Genesis 1 it better translates to perfect. What happened though is that because of our free will specificly Adam and Eve's free will we alowd sin aka imperfection into the world and thus sin started corrupting everything. It also started decaying everything.
Dan, the last point you brought up was basically Pacal's Wager--I'm glad you addressed it because I get so damned tired of hearing it used by apologists and it's false for even more reasons than the ones you mentioned. How about all of the other Gods that are alleged to exist? Maybe believing in the Christian God is hedging my bets, but maybe it's going to get me on the bad side of Zues, Odin, Kali, or Allah.
Your idea of a perfect world without rape or murder or starvation can been seen differently in 3 different ways:
1. We use one of newtons law of gravity. Everything has an equal and opposite reaction. So, maybe god made the world perfect and in that reaction everything equal and opposite happened. Thus an imprefect world.
2. In the bible Adam and Eve where in a perfect world until kick out. Thus are world.
3. Maybe god made one imperfect bean (man) god couldn't control and thus our world.....

I LOVE how you aren't afraid to NOT know. Why are people SO OBSESSED with knowing everything? It's not even freaking possible to know everything! Good for you, you have surpassed the mental stubbornness of 80% of humanity.
i think that after you die -no longer living as a being- lol you remain in the place of death continuing life dead but maybe itz full of demons and other ghost and you live in the same world just that the people alive can only see the alive and the dead can see dead or both but sometimes the alive can see the dead lol ghost adventures hehe and that one movie which shows both worldz sharing, world of living and death
Because of my knowledge of the Bible I have a certain condition called wtf and I face the fact that Humanity has because of its inability to understand the Bible, allowed 1,035,458,000 people to be killed, to starve to death etc. since 1975, my birth.Everything that applies to me applies to you.It is easy for me to put this world in fit shape but men have a hard time with discerning wisdom because they have little knowledge or belief.Anyway fear of God is good until later
Truth, there is The Presence, The God of The Universe, The God of Light, The God and Goddess of Darkness.Humanity as it is is totally unaware of the very special place that has been chosen for them. The game for very few is perfection but perfectionism is the most powerful force but since no man is righteous (because they see and hear not) there should be no government. All people should probably make the choice to support and cherish Life, it is a gift : ) Not a long time.
what if god/gods or whatever (i don't believe in any anyway) made us as a science experiment? if he/she (it??) is not actually a perfect beign but just some alien scientist(s)? and also even though noone can proove that god actually exists/doesn't exist, it's prooven that all religions have something similar to Jesus, and that christians say christianity is supposed to be "the only" religion, even though it has done the worst things in the name of the religion.
...If you think about a child directly disobeying his mother, she will punish him to make sure he does not do it again and possibly hurt himself. God did this same thing to us for the same reasons. Dan, I love your videos, but this one is extremely flawed. Especially since you don't have the facts straight. And I know you may say these aren't necessarily facts, but they are at least key points of a theory you failed to mention.
Dan, I know you've grown up in a Christian/Catholic home, which means that you should have some more knowledge than you've displayed in this video. You say God created rape, murder, genocide, etc. But it clearly states in the Bible that the world we live in now is in fact, very imperfect. God created the world perfect initially, but the downfall of man (Adam and Eve) angered God enough to allow pain and suffering into our world. Now, this seems harsh and something an unloving God would do but...
I'm hoping there is an afterlife. I'm Christian so my religion kinda straight away makes me think that there is an afterlife where you are chosen to go to heaven or hell.
But my personal thoughts on God and all religions for that matter are a bit stiff, so I'd guess I'm more of a Deist then all others.
Anyway, the reason I hope that there is an afterlife is that I just think it would be pretty cool. I mean imagine, you have your own world, like the ghost image of Earth.
I think that an idea of an afterlife is silly. In fact, I think the whole idea of religion is silly. Its how humans made sence of the world before advances in science. People were scared of dying and therefore created an afterlife. When we die, we die thats it.
XD I'm with you on the last question. Wheather god is real or not, is something of your own opinion. I don't want to believe in a god, even if it means never having a eternal bliss. I don't want to live my life in fear because of something I'm not sure of. I want to live my life as it is now because right now, this is all I have.
well i do see your point about imperfection, in my opinion its not gods fault that the world is the way it is. god gave man free will to make the world as how we want it. thats why there is rape, famine, the holocaust, etc. its mans own choice. perhaps however giving us free will was an imperfection? i dont know that answer
@guymanawsome404 No free will is the ultimate gift a loving God could give you. What would be the point in creating a creation that could only choose to love you and worship you. All that would be is a bunch of robots doing what you made them do. Imagine if you locked a girl up that you wanted to marry and told her she could come out of her prison only when she said she loved you. Would she really love you? God wanted us to WANT to love and worship Him.
In regards to your thoughts about perfection and how God could not be, consider that our human comprehension is limited, and that maybe, even with rape, war, famine, etc. that this world is the MOST perfect of any POSSIBLE world. That is to say, this world is the best that there could possibly be, almighty God or not.
i know you probably don't read these comments on old videos, but God created us with free will, letting us do whatever we wanted with the world, so we're the ones who screwed it up and made it imperfect, not him.
Sorry if someone already pointed this out, but BigBlackDan's comment is what is known as Pascal's Wager and is a logical fallacy. Many theists tend to use Pascal's Wager in reference to the Christian god, but what they fail to realize/point out is that there are MANY alleged gods. If you're supposed to believe in one "just to be safe," which do you choose? God, Allah, Odin, Brahma, or Ra?
One of myriad reasons my secular humanism/agnostic atheism has remained intact.
Hey Dan, I'm looking so forward to Dan 3.0 that I started watching some oldschool Dan Brown and I would like to not so much make a point as to throw an idea out there: According to the Christian Bible, God made the world perfect at first but humans messed it up. I know you probably don't have time to read all the comments on these old videos espiceally now that you have Dan 3.0 but I just wanted to throw this out there
@tybkc In regards to your thoughts about perfection and how God could not be, consider that our human comprehension is limited, and that maybe, even with rape, war, famine, etc. that this world is the MOST perfect of any POSSIBLE world. That is to say, this world is the best that there could possibly be, almighty God or not.
Aren't we all just countless creatures constituted together shouting "I" to the world(i.e. we are made up of countless cells with independent lives acting as one)?
So if Hitler really is in heaven, and everyone who has died is in heaven, wouldn't that make heaven just another place like Earth? No one really knows what happens there -- if it even exists -- but if there is a place where people go after death, couldn't heaven and hell be equivilent to each other?
the way other's think now. People use religion now as an excuse to hate people from other religions, or hate people because of their sexuality. I'm not saying religion is a bad thing, because those who see it as a way to positively influence their lives and their actions can do incredible things in the world. It's just the people who use religion as an excuse for hatred that cause problems.
I believe in God. I never used to. There's no way to describe to someone who doesn't believe in God the kind of faith you feel when you do. It's entirely different from deciding you believe in ghosts or something. There's no way to describe it, but I believe God exists and I'm completely comfortable with my faith.
Religion, however, is different from having faith. Religion built the morals of society thousands of years ago and should be a wonderful thing, but so many people use it to manipulate
People who have died would know what happens. My uncle died, but got resuscitated, but I havn't asked him about it because it's kind of a sensitive question to him
A very smart man ( i unfortunetly forgot his name) once said: if it would change something in your life if you knew for sure that there is a god, you need to have a god.
Perfection can only exist if whatever is being described as perfect fully satisfies certain criteria. If, for instance, if the only criteria for our planet are that it must sustain life, than yes, it can be considered perfect.
because there is no true perfection or ideal world (lol) for that matter, then everything Created by whoever or whatever you want to believe is PERFECT
Dan... nobody has ever claimed Gods creation is perfect. Our world is going downhill QUICKLY, but this is not because God CAUSED it. WE humans caused it.
But if he created us, and we are destroying his creation (the earth and in most cases, us) then we are imperfect. If his idea was to make us imperfect and destroy his creations, then he is imperfect aswell.
Obviously we are imperfect, but not because God created us that way. God gave us free will, and we chose sin knowingly. God created the world without sin, and man caused sin to enter the world (hence the state of constant decline the world has always been in)
Bunn, regardless of what God INTENDED, the bottom line is: his creation was not perfect to begin with.
The way I see it, this universe is bound to destroy itself, or, at the very least, damage itself. Things very destructive are in this universe, and I don't think we can say that we caused ALL of it.
e.g. Could we have caused supernovas, engulfing God's creations? Not really.
Either God is perfect, but he didn't INTEND this world to be perfect, or, he isn't perfect.
Yes. God gives us a choice. Its our desicion. Sure, God could control us if God wanted to. But God gives us a merciful choice, and its our part to take action.
@FunnyJunkTV Hell was created only for Satan. However the wages of sin is spiritual death not hell. Spiritual death meaning eternal separation from God and I guess that is something you would want. He is not threatning you with "hell" He is simply giving you a choice and it's all up to you. He simply wants to know "Do you want to spend eternity with Me or not?" He will respect your wishes.
@FunnyJunkTV No I am not a Jerhovah's Witness. The "Lake of Fire" you speak of is not actually hell. It is rather according to the Bible a specific place in hell specificly for satan and his menions when it is all said and done. It will be where he will spend eternity being tormented himself never to be free again and never able to have any influence outside the Lake of Fire. Of course he will be too busy suffering to actually be able to bother anybody else.
God has been a total failure and must be judged as an incompetent moron. That would have to b the verdict if he had ever existed. It is probably kinder to admit he (she, it?) never existed.
@mhpeters121 In your opinion He is a failure. But, your are just a feeble little human being. But, He has done pretty awesome by me. You obviously have not given Him a sincere chance. But, hey guess what He respects your wishes if you live your life wanting Him to stay out of it then He will.
I also beleive that even if God isn't in my life even if he is fake I have done good things for people because I thought it was pleasing to God. im not saying that I fear God and try get a ticket out of hell by doing good things I do it because I feel God deserves it.
Dan my beleifs are that the teachings in christianity are correct and that God is perfect and loving. but I don't judge you at all I think you're an amazing guy and you'll do great things for the world. One thing i want to say is that I don't beleive what I beleive because I was taught it . I beleive what I beleive because I read and asked myself tons of questions and I came to the conclusion that I beleive there is a God
I really do wholeheartedly agree with you Dan! Life after death is a mystery and no one knows for sure. Love the statement near the end, "ideas can change the world." You're quite right, ideas can change the world; and they can also change people's hearts! :D
You're really easy to listen to. I share most of your beliefs (I'm also agnostic) and I am really glad someone voiced them in a more "socially acceptable", because my mom is against my religious choices, and therefore doesn't like me to talk about them.
@AnonimosArtist same here (except for the mom part). but sadly people tend to not respect agnosticism as an actual belief system. i am glad to see that there are so many others watching such an intelligent blog that makes people think.
There are thousands of religons all over the world.
Almost every nation has their own religon, (some of these dissappear when their country is conquered).
And almost every God in other religons can do everything what God(in Christianity) can do.And almost every religon claims that only God mentioned in their "Bible" is the true.
So why only God in Christianity is true and right while others are fake and wrong?
Read the Bible and remember that you can go and do everything you want, but for this you are gonna must respond for them in the face of GOD at the JUDGEMENT!!!
Free will changes how the world is and becauseof that, the world is how it is at this moment, but by this being so God is testing us. Everything that happens predicts your future and the worlds future. Plenty of times natural disasters make the world better. Whenever disaster strikes people work to gether better and will eventually make a way to prevent somthing like Haiti from being as bad... even though the enevitable will happen. Just something to think about....
in genesis he goes on about what he made was good... god works with us always and he wanted to work through us to make it better. its all free will if we want to rape steal you name it
i believe that god is an idea that people use to help them to feel secure and also to try to explain the reason why life as we know it is how it is.The thought of hell is contradictory to the christian teachings that god is all forgiving .Your fan
I think that the reason there are so many bad things in the world is because of the free will God gave us, and the power of the devil (he does have some power, but not as much as God, if you ask me.) If God didn't give us free will, it would basically be a puppet show.
And I see what you mean about the honesty thing, and I agree. The God I believe in would rather see you being honest.
My beliefs on this are long, and my remaining character count is not, so, that's all I'm saying for now.
hmm what about natural disasters that kill thousands of people? not exactly perfect either. Innocent children are dying in Haiti not because of free will.
The thing about your theory of perfection is that God didn't WANT the world to be imperfect, But he also wanted people to have free will. A CHOICE to worship him or love him, or talk to him, not just an instinct or a forced action. That's why the world is imperfect, b/c of humans not God.
and 148thchild don't you think praying is a little insulting? I mean it's like pointing out something " Omnipotent God" doesn't already know, which isn't possible.
fuck no. if god came to earth a long time ago and wrote down some notes, then why is he/she not coming back again? i'm totally tolerant towards religious people but i hate it when they tell me wonderful stories, because they want everyone to think the same way as they do. what is the problem with believing in that illusion and not giving a fuck about other people not believing in god??
Why are you talking just about a Cristian god if you are ment to be a non-prejudgeist person what about the Jews the muslims the Sikhs the Mormons and that
I'm an athieist and I belive the only reson to belive in an afterlife is fear but dude you should cover all bases not to offend
I really enjoyed this video Dan. It was a very heavy topic you were dealing with and you did very well. Hope you don't get too many hater comments for this.
I believe when you die you go back to what you were before birth. And that dosn't mean I believe in re-incarnation. I mean before that. When you weren't anything.
You said you "know" you exist, but now with the Simulation theory, maybe you are only thinking you exist and in reality you are just data on software.... =) (even though the simulation theory is a humongous stretch itself)
My dad is a Buddhist and I look to the philosophy with him. There are many forms of Buddhism and in some forms they do look to the Buddha Siddhartha as a god while others just see him as a teacher to the way one should live life to reach Nirvana and ultimatly enter the state to become a Buddha. So it all depends on how you see buddhism to practice it with another religon and if you do or don't believe in a god.
so you say it's the human's fault? the fault of creations of your perfect god? why is god creating very imperfect beings? for fun? and why is he creating beings who need him? what for?
God made the human race and gave them a choice. The choice was to sin and now there eyes were open to good and to evil. Satan is our enemy and I hope you relize that soon. The path to heaven is very narrow and short and that path to hell is as wide as it can get. God is perfect. Humans are not. IF GOD MADE PERFECT HUMAN BEINGS WE WOULD NOT NEED HIM, THEREFOR WE WOULD NOT PRAISE HIM WITH THE PRAISE HE DESERVES! Im going to pray for you... and I hope you change your ways.
@148thChild yeah so i'm a perfect human being. because i don't need god. fuck when will you ever start to question your beliefs? and not within the borders of your view, but at all. that probably "god" only exists in your head. i know you won't listen to me or won't understand me but i'll try: somewhen the universe developed. nobody knows how, perhabs it has been here forever. i cannot imagine infinity because human brains are not made for. but i'm quite sure that it exists forever...
@148thChild ... and that thers an infinite amount of stars in it. the likelihood for a planet to have the conditions for animals living on it is incredibly low, but because ther#s an infinite amount of stars, the possibility is 100%. it also took that planet millions of years in which live developed and organisms grew larger and in the end of that period, the firt homo sapiens sapiens was born. till then the economic circle of the earth went mostly stable...
@148thChild so us both are lucky to exist in a world that has developed to work correctly. that probably happens just very few times and it takes a fucking long time. you see, in my point of view there's no god and it works perfect without him. i think, saying "theres someone whos good and he clapped and there was the earth. theres alot questionable about him but i don't care. i close my eyes and believe. i know i'm right and the atheists are wrong. full stop." is extremely ignorant and foolish
you're great!

Dale78ful 5 months ago
@pogobat Dan. I think you're over looking one element that the bible acknowledges, Free will. God created the world to be perfect, He gave man free will, the ability to do whatever we please. The bible also speaks of the devil and his temptations. our free will mixed with these temptations cause us to sin, that's why we have an imperfect world. Life is about the decisions we make with the freedom of will, that is the element that judges us.
Dale78ful 5 months ago
@pogobat God is a man, reason be is that god created man in his image, woman was created after man, god created woman out of man in order to be a companion to man. Read the bible, there is much more evidence of him being male, that's why we call him our heavenly father. if you cant read the bible and understand it, then don't talk about it, it makes you seem ignorant to those who do understand.
Dale78ful 5 months ago
@Dale78ful There are so many different beliefs and so many different thoughts that someone being ignorant about something to do with Religion is almost inevitable. There is no proof that everything in the bible is true, just as there is no proof that there is no god.

@RJLupin6 there is proof, just ones non-believers refuse to objectify. You're right though, it is inevitable, after all, no man truly knows what's beyond the stars. It's just faith I guess.

geek2thextreme 10 months ago

I'm a pagan and do not believe in a single god so, there you have it.
witchcraft3328 10 months ago
@witchcraft3328 Your friend is an idiot and that analogy is completely irrelevant. That's like saying "If God is all powerful, he can create a human more powerful than he is, and if he can't create him, than he's not all powerful, but if he could coud create him and not beat him, then he's not powerful". You can pretty much say that with anything, your friend is just playing with words.
Ompmovies 5 days ago
@Ompmovies It is a powerful argument though, his friend is just being logical. The church portrays God as a being that can do everything. It is relevant because it presents a possibility if God is not what he's cracked up to be. Getting angry for someone using his brain is like getting angry at you for breathing. its normal to think, and its what religion sometimes restricts. thats why some people hate arguing with religious people. they don't want you to think, just follow blindly.

@Ompmovies Before you ask, why of all Dan's three God related videos I chose to comment on your comments more? its one of the most blind, biased comments in his video. Personally, I see no reason to believe in impossible things- I prefer to look at things logically and evaluate what I know and what I understand, but I respect people's belief.
Just a thought though- if there is no God, then how did the ideas for religion come about it the first place???

I'm just saying, I don't think there can be a God. It defies everything we know about the world. I belive in the Big Bang Theory, because it seems the most logical. But every religion raises questions- If God created the world, who created God? If the Big Bang Theory is correct, then how did it start, and what was there before it?
Perhaps all religions are correct- if there is a God, it would seem right that He doesn't mind how people worship him, meaning that a religion that shows love etc...
QueenOfTheAubergines 1 year ago

@webbjsabrina i would agree with that. i just think we should acknowledge that while people use religion as an excuse/reason to perpetuate violence, it is not the sole cause for that violence, and i would argue that the oxymoron of "religious war" is a perversion of what was created to facilitate love and social harmony, the good things that religion also brings. there are two sides to every story.
hemsinger10 1 year ago
@MagnificentMunchlax do some real research and you will find that more genocide was done from atheistic ideas. Go to the source of the belief and find out everything for yourself. Incorporate what you've read to the world we live in and you will find your answers.

And I know you may say these aren't necessarily facts, but they are at least key points of a theory you failed to mention.
tr3v0rg1nn 1 year ago
Dan, I know you've grown up in a Christian/Catholic home, which means that you should have some more knowledge than you've displayed in this video. You say God created rape, murder, genocide, etc. But it clearly states in the Bible that the world we live in now is in fact, very imperfect. God created the world perfect initially, but the downfall of man (Adam and Eve) angered God enough to allow pain and suffering into our world. Now, this seems harsh and something an unloving God would do but...
tr3v0rg1nn 1 year ago
I'm hoping there is an afterlife. I'm Christian so my religion kinda straight away makes me think that there is an afterlife where you are chosen to go to heaven or hell.
But my personal thoughts on God and all religions for that matter are a bit stiff, so I'd guess I'm more of a Deist then all others.
Anyway, the reason I hope that there is an afterlife is that I just think it would be pretty cool. I mean imagine, you have your own world, like the ghost image of Earth.
Just sayin'.
EvilMan04 1 year ago
I think that an idea of an afterlife is silly. In fact, I think the whole idea of religion is silly. Its how humans made sence of the world before advances in science. People were scared of dying and therefore created an afterlife. When we die, we die thats it.

@guymanawsome404 No free will is the ultimate gift a loving God could give you. What would be the point in creating a creation that could only choose to love you and worship you. Many theists tend to use Pascal's Wager in reference to the Christian god, but what they fail to realize/point out is that there are MANY alleged gods.

But if he created us, and we are destroying his creation (the earth and in most cases, us) then we are imperfect. If his idea was to make us imperfect and destroy his creations, then he is imperfect aswell.
braddudeguy 1 year ago
Obviously we are imperfect, but not because God created us that way. God gave us free will, and we chose sin knowingly. God created the world without sin, and man caused sin to enter the world (hence the state of constant decline the world has always been in)
bunn1989 1 year ago

IPwnAllAndLeaveNone 1 year ago
@IPwnAllAndLeaveNone It's not really a choice if he's threatening us with Hell in my opinion.
FunnyJunkTV 1 year ago
@FunnyJunkTV Hell was created only for Satan. However the wages of sin is spiritual death not hell. Spiritual death meaning eternal separation from God and I guess that is something you would want. He is not threatning you with "hell" He is simply giving you a choice and it's all up to you. He simply wants to know "Do you want to spend eternity with Me or not?" He will respect your wishes.
GZUS96 1 year ago
@GZUS96 Wait a minute... are you a fuckin JW? Because any other Christian would describe Hell as a lake of fire or something.
FunnyJunkTV 1 year ago
@FunnyJunkTV No I am not a Jerhovah's Witness. The "Lake of Fire" you speak of is not actually hell. It is rather according to the Bible a specific place in hell specificly for satan and his menions when it is all said and done. It will be where he will spend eternity being tormented himself never to be free again and never able to have any influence outside the Lake of Fire. Of course he will be too busy suffering to actually be able to bother anybody else.

@bunn1989 What about cosmological imperfections? Are you saying that when an asteroid inevitably hits the earth, we humans and our "evil" caused it?
Delichtig 1 year ago
God has been a total failure and must be judged as an incompetent moron. That would have to b the verdict if he had ever existed. It is probably kinder to admit he (she, it?) never existed.
mhpeters121 2 years ago
@mhpeters121 In your opinion He is a failure. But, your are just a feeble little human being. But, He has done pretty awesome by me. You obviously have not given Him a sincere chance. But, hey guess what He respects your wishes if you live your life wanting Him to stay out of it then He will.

dan please read the coment below first
I also beleive that even if God isn't in my life even if he is fake I have done good things for people because I thought it was pleasing to God. im not saying that I fear God and try get a ticket out of hell by doing good things I do it because I feel God deserves it.
12comedycentral 2 years ago
Dan my beleifs are that the teachings in christianity are correct and that God is perfect and loving. but I don't judge you at all I think you're an amazing guy and you'll do great things for the world. One thing i want to say is that I don't beleive what I beleive because I was taught it . I beleive what I beleive because I read and asked myself tons of questions and I came to the conclusion that I beleive there is a God
12comedycentral 2 years ago
I really do wholeheartedly agree with you Dan! Life after death is a mystery and no one knows for sure. Love the statement near the end, "ideas can change the world." You're quite right, ideas can change the world; and they can also change people's hearts! :D

You're really easy to listen to. I share most of your beliefs (I'm also agnostic) and I am really glad someone voiced them in a more "socially acceptable", because my mom is against my religious choices, and therefore doesn't like me to talk about them.
AnonimosArtist 2 years ago 10
@AnonimosArtist same here (except for the mom part). but sadly people tend to not respect agnosticism as an actual belief system. i am glad to see that there are so many others watching such an intelligent blog that makes people think.

Great video, Dan!

Sorry about my comment on the last video. I have an open mind, but I'm just to Bible-y in retrospect.

i believe that god is an idea that people use to help them to feel secure and also to try to explain the reason why life as we know it is how it is.The thought of hell is contradictory to the christian teachings that god is all forgiving .Your fan
x1noodle 2 years ago
I think that the reason there are so many bad things in the world is because of the free will God gave us, and the power of the devil (he does have some power, but not as much as God, if you ask me.) If God didn't give us free will, it would basically be a puppet show.
And I see what you mean about the honesty thing, and I agree. The God I believe in would rather see you being honest.
My beliefs on this are long, and my remaining character count is not, so, that's all I'm saying for now.
JanksterProductions 2 years ago
hmm what about natural disasters that kill thousands of people? not exactly perfect either. Innocent children are dying in Haiti not because of free will.

I could argue and debate with you about this, but I simply don't have the energy to.

The thing about your theory of perfection is that God didn't WANT the world to be imperfect, But he also wanted people to have free will. A CHOICE to worship him or love him, or talk to him, not just an instinct or a forced action. That's why the world is imperfect, b/c of humans not God.

@148thChild I totally agree with what you are saying.

haha good job Dan
and 148thchild don't you think praying is a little insulting? I mean it's like pointing out something " Omnipotent God" doesn't already know, which isn't possible.

fuck no. if god came to earth a long time ago and wrote down some notes, then why is he/she not coming back again? i'm totally tolerant towards religious people but i hate it when they tell me wonderful stories, because they want everyone to think the same way as they do. what is the problem with believing in that illusion and not giving a fuck about other people not believing in god??
JohnyWindmill 2 years ago
Why are you talking just about a Cristian god if you are ment to be a non-prejudgeist person what about the Jews the muslims the Sikhs the Mormons and that
I'm an athieist and I belive the only reson to belive in an afterlife is fear but dude you should cover all bases not to offend

So how does the Islamic Calendar which consists of 355 days fit into that.

If God made the world perfect, we wouldnt need him, thus he made the world imperfect. the world was perfect before adam and eve sinned.
148thChild 2 years ago
so you say it's the human's fault? the fault of creations of your perfect god? why is god creating very imperfect beings? for fun? and why is he creating beings who need him? what for?
JohnyWindmill 2 years ago
God made the human race and gave them a choice. The choice was to sin and now there eyes were open to good and to evil. Satan is our enemy and I hope you relize that soon. The path to heaven is very narrow and short and that path to hell is as wide as it can get. God is perfect. Humans are not. IF GOD MADE PERFECT HUMAN BEINGS WE WOULD NOT NEED HIM, THEREFOR WE WOULD NOT PRAISE HIM WITH THE PRAISE HE DESERVES! Im going to pray for you... and I hope you change your ways.
148thChild 2 years ago
@148thChild yeah so i'm a perfect human being. because i don't need god. fuck when will you ever start to question your beliefs? and not within the borders of your view, but at all. that probably "god" only exists in your head. i know you won't listen to me or won't understand me but i'll try: somewhen the universe developed. nobody knows how, perhabs it has been here forever. i cannot imagine infinity because human brains are not made for. but i'm quite sure that it exists forever...
JohnyWindmill 2 years ago
@148thChild ... and that thers an infinite amount of stars in it. the likelihood for a planet to have the conditions for animals living on it is incredibly low, but because ther#s an infinite amount of stars, the possibility is 100%. it also took that planet millions of years in which live developed and organisms grew larger and in the end of that period, the firt homo sapiens sapiens was born. till then the economic circle of the earth went mostly stable...
JohnyWindmill 2 years ago
@148thChild so us both are lucky to exist in a world that has developed to work correctly. that probably happens just very few times and it takes a fucking long time. you see, in my point of view there's no god and it works perfect without him. i think, saying "theres someone whos good and he clapped and there was the earth. theres alot questionable about him but i don't care. i close my eyes and believe. i know i'm right and the atheists are wrong. full stop." is extremely ignorant and foolish
