@wafikhan448 Tick mark Just boot even if your sim card is in your iPhone. Also note that this is an iPhone 3gS and you have upgraded to Custom iOS 5.0.1 So you need to select 'install iPad baseband' option again in Redsnow even if you already have an iPad baseband on your iPhone .

I fixed the problem I downgraded to 4.1 then started over. I was using old boot rom files and I have new boot rom. all is good Jailbroken and unlocked

I have followed all instructions and when phone finishes retire in iTunes with custom ipsw

it says complete and your device will restart.. It does not and is stuck in dfu mode I've tried it twice with the same results. tried to use redsn0w to get out of dfu mode. to jailbreak.and nothing

@gtnoy No worries. You are safe. Since you updated to official iOs 5.0.1 and now you must be at the activation screen. Run redsnow given in this video. Make sure when you get to check 'Cydia' - also check mark 'install iPad baseband' option. Make sure of this. Now redsnow will do its thing and reboot. But it will be stucked on Apple logo so boot tethered as explained in the video. Lastly install 'Corona 5.0.1 Untether' & Ultrasnow. All done. All is demoed live at the end of this video.

Then go through the process. Finally install Ultrasn0w from Cydia. All done. Your service will come back.

@yatindatta All you need to download is custom iOS 5.0.1 and Official 5.0.1 firmwares for your iPhone 3gS. That's all you need. I just checked my links and they are fine. Plz make sure not to unzip them. And download them using Internet Explorer. It will come in 'ipsw' format.

@Androdrol If you have an iPhone 3gS and you need to know its ROM then go to ih8sn0w(dot)com web page and download iDetector. This will tell you if you have a new Bootrom iPhone 3gS or old. Make sure to update to a custom iOS 5.0.1 (not 5.0) if you are an Unlocker.

Thank you very much! I was very nervous about doing this, but your guide was very clear about everything.

You should also know that for me, redsn0w didn't start the tethered boot when I put it into BFU. If this happens to anyone else, all you have to do is hold down home and power until everything goes black. Then, press ''next'' on redsn0w then start using the BFU instructions as if your phone was turned off as redsn0w instructs. Peace out guys and thanks again!

Hi, I have a Question for you? What Version of Itunes are you using? the Latest?? The reason I ask is because I Keep getting the 3194 Error With the Files you Have Supplied with the Links? Should I Try to use Perhaps Itunes 10.4? Also What is in your host file? On Windows, the hosts file can be found here: C:\Windows\System32\ drivers\etc\hosts.

On OSX, the hosts file can be found here: /private/etc/hosts.
