@climber910 And with this line up. If enough people write or email their manager at Quest Management perhaps they'd think about it? A long shot but worth a try. This album still has more resonance than the others.
not that they have best songs, and i know how silly it is to say, cause there is no such thing as best - just unique and less unique maybe.. But anyway, i think this is their best song, most resonant on a personal level perhaps, i was going to say it is groovy, cause that;s my favourite word these days. But this song is not groovy, and not funny, it is deep and brilliant
@redifreddy14 Why does everyone always want to compare every female musician to Kate Bush? She is not trying to be Kate Bush and neither is Florence and the Machine or any other current artists. The day she says "My work is the best since Kate Bush" then you can spout off until then try to appreciate Arcade Fire for what they are. Which is something COMPLETELY different. Not better, different. Apparently no one should ever try to write an album unless they're better than Kate Bush!
@jjochems In case you did not recognise the close parody to the Kate Bush "Cloud Busting"... is the only reason for the comparison... the tone and direction of the music takes a turn at 2.00 minutes... but the intro very much Kate Bush like therefore the Comparo.. Regines Sprawl .. and Haiti are brilliant... and well suited to her voice this was not... rest of your comments are nonsense
the thing about arcade fire is that you hear the version on the album and your mind is blown, then you hear the live version and its better!!, love them
I love how this song has two completely different perspectives to it...the first one so optimistic and happy, and then the second basically completely opposite, basically crushing her dreams and telling her "stop now before it's too late." And then Regine acts it all out so well live, I love it!
This is the song that made me fall in love with this band. The combination of their voices in this just make it for me. It gets dissonant sometimes and that in combination with the great song writing makes it unique and original in my opinion. I like Suburbs alot, but I hope they do not abandon this direction entirely.
Not content with the regular band members being able to play just about anything, up pops Colin Stetson from the back and plays the xylophone with equal aplomb to Regine and Wil. Unbelievable. Big shame those two guys didn't make the 2010 tour. Just noticed the similarity in the harmony with Suburban War.
@bennyuk55 - I do agree - As amazing as they are in 2010/2011 .... I missed the horn section, which adds a whole layer of depth and texture to their sound ..... Dont get me wrong: I saw them and I was blown away ... But it would have been even better to have those horns in certain songs ....
@TrajanGregory I hadn't realised until today that Colin and Pietro Amato are credited with contributions to three Suburbs songs so perhaps it was just a case that no horn player was available last year and they might turn up again in 2011? Fingers crossed.
I love the drum part in Black Wave. I also love the violin and viola part at the begining. One of my favorite songs off of my favorite Arcade Fire album!
this is one of my favourite AF songs, its just plain genius and incredibly underrated. Arcade Fire are just the realest band out there at the moment they are making the music that they want to make and write about what they believe in. They are just one of a kind
i lover this band and i absolutely love this song but its one where the studio version is unfortunately better. Here the violins and regines voice just dont mix like they do in the album
@LeWeYfilms The studio version better? I can't really agree. This one just has more feeling, especially in Black Wave (Win's Voice!)...and JEREMY's DRUMMING! 'Nuff said. :D
maybe my favourite song from "Neon Bible" it's a tie with "Black Mirror", "The Well and the Lighthouse", "My Body is a Cage" and "Keep the Car Running"
2:20, just rocking the fuck outta that xylophone

The part at 01:52 is one of the best musical transitions I've ever heard. The first half creates a great contrast to the second half's graveness.

Stop now before it's too late.
Even in the ghetto on a hundred dollar plate.
Nothing lasts forever that's the way it's gotta be!
There's a great black wave in the middle of the sea.
For me. For you. For me.
So honestly.
